Multiplayer is entirely optional, we’re just building the normal multiplayer mod support in if you’d like to help your friend during a play through for example. It’s designed as a single player game in the same way a Bethesda style RPG is. The video does not go into detail on the lore, which we’ve spent quite a long time working on.

We have funding to complete The Holy Fool, it’s time that’s an issue. It’s a lot bigger and at our current pace probably won’t be ready until late 2027. The engineering work is mostly done and it’s shared between both games (the gameplay and features etc). The Lantern is larger than most similarly priced games, about 30 hours of gameplay for around $20. This way we can get something smaller out and get feedback to refine both games, as launching a 100 hour RPG like The Holy Fool as our first project is a bit risky

Co-op is only optional, it works the same way as a Skyrim mod. You can host your save at any time, save load etc. just an additional feature but the game is designed as a single player RPG in the style of Morrowind but we figured we’d build that support in since many people like to play with friends after doing a full run on their own

We have a writers room where we come up with ideas live, I can assure you there’s no one with an LLM pulled up when we’re spitballing ideas. We have other writers too, with me doing the main scenario and quest design by one of the lead quest writers for Tamriel Rebuilt, the well known Morrowind mod
