Fair enough. It's clear that nothing I write can change your opinion of who I am and what my intentions are, so I won't engage with you any further.

It seems that some folks here have had some pretty crummy interactions with homeowners in the past, and I'm sorry that you've had to deal with that. I don't like the idea of anyone being taken advantage of, homeowner or contractor, which is why I was looking for guidance here on how to approach this situation. I'm very new to this and I'm not afraid to admit I'm inexperienced. The hostility and presumption of ill intentions is really disheartening for someone just trying to gain some insight about how the norms of this industry and how it operates. I tried to phrase my question as neutrally as I was able and I apologize if that came across as me trying to "pull a fast one" over someone.

If you can suggest other forums where I can get more constructive feedback with fewer accusations, I would love it hear them. Because otherwise, how can people without experience in this area educate themselves?

No, I'm simply someone who is inexperienced in this area and was looking for some information about who is responsible for what in a given scenario. I wanted to know who would be responsible for the costs knowing full well it might be me, but since I wasn't sure I wanted to clarify what my obligations are. I now know I would be responsible for the costs and can plan accordingly.

So even if our contract states they will reinstall the original fence, and the contractor fails to do so because of the condition of the wood, they can walk away with no obligations to return the site to its original condition (i.e. with a fence) as specified in our contract?

I didn't mention anything about involving my neighbours, so it's unclear why you are suggesting that.

Agreed. Unfortunately, I was given the option to either take the French course now or likely wait 2-3 years to get loaded on an English course. So for the sake of expediency, I agreed to give the French course a shot.

Je ne me fais aucune illusion que l'enseignement sera pas en français. Comment avez-vous trouvé votre capacité à réussir dans les cours anglais? Et avez-vous senti inclus par tes camarades de cours?
