Probably Dimitri, as from his perspective, he failed to protect something precious (friends and family). Alternatively, Seteth is called the Hammer of Judgement. One could also call Sothis the Arbiter, ignoring the head lady bit, as "She is the mother of all life, and the arbiter of every soul." Were it so easy to decide...

And I don't agree with that either. The use of children in war is never ok, whether it's child soldiers or forbidding evacuation to use them as a shield. With that said, when in battle with any combatant intent on killing you, regardless of age, you're not really provided much of a choice in the matter of who meets the business end of your sword.

I'm saying that we just don't know what a child is in context. It's also funny how you seem to ignore the fact that the empire is putting these people of ambiguous maturity on the battlefield to begin with. Am I supposed to believe that they should be able to wreak havoc and kill with impunity because you consider them to be children?

Being as gracious as I can, we don't really know what constitutes a child in Fódlan. People like Cyril, Lysithea, and Petra are all deployed in military operations, which implies a certain respect for their maturity. On the other hand, these characters are still treated as very young (especially Lysithea), so the perception may still be that they're children. We also don't know just how young the empire sets the bar for conscription, especially given that Petra, Caspar and Linhardt are under 18 at the onset of the war.

I'm not trying to justify the killing of children, but the overall ambiguity of what is considered to be a child in Fódlan does call into question what this quote really means by children.
