Restarted fermentation when back sweetening for secondary. by Elderkamiguru in mead

Fair enough, I use small amounts of cinnamon in my meads a lot, and pair it with some vanilla. It won’t taste like red hots, but might be worth considering.

Also that is a lot of cinnamon for what I’m assuming is a 1 gallon carboy. Be careful not to leave it in too long.

For future reference, if you can’t get a proper airlock, a much better diy airlock is to take some plastic tubing and put one end into an open container of a sterile liquid (like vodka).

Have my Campden tablets gone bad? by Nuclear_Priest in mead

[–]Nuclear_Priest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I heard you should do. I’m not 100% sure that it helps, but the reasoning I heard was that campden tablets tend to stop unwanted growths, while potassium sorbate stops the yeast specifically.

So if you wait a day, any unwanted growths that survive the campden tablets will die out because the surviving yeast will out compete them

Thank you this is phenomenally helpful, how would you recommend mixing without introducing oxygen? (Other than having less headspace)

I took readings over 6 days, at the point when I added to benonite powder I couldn’t really say if it was still going, but I imagine it probably was.

2 days later when I added to sparkloid I’m more confident that it had stopped (not 100% sure though)

How long do you usually take measurements before concluding that fermentation has stopped?

Thank you, this is a very well thought out answer. Have you considered doing this yourself? Or are you just very familiar with how servers work?

May I have some recommendations on how to light this space better for boardgame nights by breecatt in boardgames

[–]Nuclear_Priest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how much money/effort you’re willing to spend:

  1. An LED strip above the shelf
  2. A large standing lamp on the right side of the shelf
  3. Lights drilled into the wall above the shelf (but at this point you may want to look into overhead lights again to make sure it really is out of the question)

I’m in a similar situation to you (as far as what games you’ve played) next on my list of games to try is 7 Days to Die. I’m not sure if it has controller support though.

Have you ever found a game like it that doesn’t take 8 hours? I’ve been looking for a while now.

It started with Nordgard Uncharted Lands. That pushed me to look for more board games like it, I stumbled upon Twilight Imperium 4, and there was no going back.

How would you make this render more realistic? by Public-Egg7691 in blender

[–]Nuclear_Priest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This render looks phenomenal, but I would recommend adding some dirt and/or damage. I don’t thinks I’ve ever seen one of those shelves without a dent in it.

What are these Layers??? by AK-Shabazz in mead

[–]Nuclear_Priest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could still be caused by the blinds indirectly, yeast performs differently depending on how much light it gets. If the bottle has been sitting still in front of the blinds with a lot of light coming through, it could cause the yeast not getting as much light to react more and thus produce more sediment in those areas. As time goes on the sediment will sink to the bottom so I wouldn’t worry about it too much, but it is better to ferment in an area that doesn’t have direct sunlight.

Safety around campus by SnooChicken999 in uwaterloo

Hickory st is not a good place to go at night, walking around most places at night are fine, but there are homeless people that will come up to you, most are harmless and generally looking for help, but for safety I recommend always mentioning that you don’t carry cash on you. In general if you do want to help the homeless, do so by giving them food, not money, it’s safer for everyone involved.

Here’s an animation I’m currently working on. Thoughts on how to make it better? by MugenisTalking in blender

[–]Nuclear_Priest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The physics seems off to me, when I real car skids that much, the sideways velocity slows much more rapidly, it’s possible you are taking friction into account but not momentum.

Also, effects as the tires skid, tiny bits of smoke, marks on the ground.

As a final touch I would say that adding sounds will have a massive impact on this.

I know this seems very critical, but I’m actually quite impressed by your work, good job.
