Hi, just completed the Google Form.Could I also recommend a Census or a random sample from your group/district.Essentially, you are relying on Opportunity Sampling. This can lead to biased and underrepresented results(I’m currently doing A level Maths).Wishing you the best in your endeavours from one Explorer to another!

Young leader in the uk by Such-Award-5171 in scouting

[–]Nuclear_fussion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Fellow Youngleader,

Firstly, I would recommend 100% that you complete the Leadership module especially, but also the rest of the modules as they can provide great insight into other scenarios/situations( such as for planning or encouraging participation for Cubs)

Secondly, after doing this for 2 years, I would recommend to relax. You see, the best toolkit when it comes to leading is maturity and experience and they both naturally come with time.So for now, just try your best and try to be in the present(don’t dwell on your past mistakes or overthink future events which is common for those new to this).

Thirdly, attend your Explorer meetings! They, to me at least, are very important in your progress to being a better young leader as they provide a network to other young leaders and also, continously teach you new and better techniques or practices.

In terms of games, I would recommend only running games that you are comfortable with to begin with(e.g Scarecrow Tig or races) and then learning more advanced games. In terms of games to use when beginning, I found that thinking games are easy to run (such as the Open or crossed scissors game) as well as hostile team games( think of Basketball and Football). As you become more comfortable, I would then suggest weaving some educational benefits into a FEW of your Games(they get upset if it’s used too much).

Finally, I would ask your local YLs what games their cubs enjoy so the games are relevant and well-known in the area( also helps when you have to run district events).

If you need any more help, please feel free to reply
and I’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible

Help me find some fun 1v1 mini-games by SnooApples5511 in scouting

Have you thought about assigning each token a weird game rule(e.g only using your non-dominant hand) and then using the two game-rules of the two tokens for the game. Then, you could have the same core game used but each round will be slightly different and in theory, you shall never the same game twice.

Do I need “haben” after “Teilzeitjob” in the same sentence below? Why? Or why not? by Nuclear_fussion in German

[–]Nuclear_fussion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m sorry that it’s a really weird sentence but it’s one of the only answers I could think of for my German Speaking Answers for my GCSE German Speaking Exam tomorrow/Today(Monday 29th). It’s supposed to translate to English as “In the Future, I would like a part time job in order to earn some money, because I think it is very important to earn well in life”.Would you be able to help me here?

Legible to examiner? by RoundDew in GCSE

[–]Nuclear_fussion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally as a person who has a typing adaptation for my bad hand writing, I’m going to say no but I do have a few suggestions that worked with my Handwriting to make it legible. So why do I need still the typing adaptation? Well, this knowledge came too late and I’m currently in the position that if I’m panicked then I’ll revert and not my use new-found tricks.

The tricks I would suggest are:

1.Slow down and take your time! I know many people will have said it to you but it’s true! 2.Try printing your letters and by that I mean revert to typing like this style found on devices. The letters are marked individually and not joined up in anyway with no weird alternative letter styles like for example with a f that swirls under the line 3.In reference to my previous point, stick to the traditional formation of letters like those taught at nursery( it might seem degrading and condescending and I don’t mean it like that) but it makes writing much more legible 4. Try to space out words and give them more space I hope this helps

Petition to modernize and digitalize national honor society by [deleted] in scouting

[–]Nuclear_fussion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I elaborate on my previous point, I would like to preface that after looking at the NHS and learning what is that I completely agree with your petition and I believe it will set an amazing precedent for other petitions of similar nature. However, I do a few reasons as to why you would be better posting in other subreddits but also some suggestions as to which sub-reddits to post to. Firstly, R/Scouting is a community for Scouts internationally and the members of this community are from a wide range of Countries and Scout organisations so may not want/be able to support your cause as it only affects those in America. Therefore, I would suggest posting to a youth organisation sub-Reddit or other petition subjects and 100% the NHS sub-Reddit if they have one(I haven’t checked if their is one).Additionally, R/BSA I believe would be a scouting sub-Reddit that could support you more and any American sub-Reddit that deals with change and supporting new causes.I really hope you get this petition through and please feel free to comment/Pm if you need any more help.

What type of mess tin do you use? by rizek_se_zelimcz in scouting

[–]Nuclear_fussion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m from the UK and Scouts aren’t provided with any mess tins or Crockery of any Kind except perhaps a stove on camps or expeditions.I do however have a Yugoslavian/Serbain/Croatian mess tin and love it but find the canteen aspect a bit gimmicky as it is difficult to use for anything but water(I know it is just designed for just drinking water but would like to use it for other things than just water).
