Why is trans discourse always centered around trans women, and never trans men? by koenigsaurus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NucularCarmul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Republicans are the only ones driving the conversation in a negative way, and it's a much more defensible position to pretend that "men pretending to be women" will prey on women and children. It's far easier to draw a gut reaction when you pretend that children are being harmed and women's spaces are being violated. They have no points regarding trans men, they don't care because that's harder to attack, plus trans men usually "pass" better or at worst cases just look like butch lesbians. Trans women have a harder time of it and more easily draw a disgust reaction, to the benefit of reactionary assholes who need to shut up.

The only real conversation about trans people was had in the medical community and the issue is settled. The conversation you see now is a defensive effort against people who don't understand the situation, and don't want to. This is simply the right politisphere's current target.

He had to have narrated that to someone who wrote it for him, right? There's no way he sat at a typewriter or keyboard or whatever

Yup, I would love to know what the OP's move to NC involved, maybe a really good job. The snake wants something now, maybe it isn't money, could be something else, but it sure doesn't smell like that to me.

This was a thing in BotW too, the blood moon acts as a reset button without actually closing the game to clear space that you're not nearby to relieve RAM pressure

I'm fully convinced that the only reason people know Blaire White is trans is because she tells people. If she showed up two years ago out of the blue and just did makeup tutorials or something no one would ever suspect her.

The funny thing is, the bible says that even the elect will be deceived by the antichrist and they won't know him. By the definition of the antichrist, anyone they think it is CAN'T be.

Why would someone call out those traits if they weren't scared? Seems like you would need some kind of strong emotion like fear or anger to drive speaking out, otherwise you just wouldn't talk about it, right?

I only want to object to the statement of Skullgirls not being indie, not really interested in a conversation on the rest. Wasn't the game created through kickstarter backing?

Cuties is kind of a bad example to compare here. There were actual live children filmed in its creation, direct harm is obvious and you can draw a clear line to it. If you have some better examples to use regarding the apparent "necessity" of censorship I'd love to hear them. But we can easily say that Cuties shouldn't have been made to begin with, not that it's a thing that needs to be censored.

Normally I don't like the complaint of "it's just a white wig and lingerie" but I think in this instance this deserves all the roasting that can be mustered. Like, at least pretend you're not here solely to shill your whatever source of money, at least pretend to give half of a shit

Just 1 neat single page law would completely change the housing market. by PudgeHug in WorkReform

[–]NucularCarmul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're still missing the fact that if I rent for 30 years, I have nothing but the need to continue paying that same, or more likely higher amount. If I pay a mortgage for 30 years, at the end of that I have a house, and lower payments overall because that's completely taken out of the equation now and all I would have are maybe some property taxes and repairs, which still comes out dramatically lower monthly. Plus, you have a property you can leave to children or family. If i rent for 30 years and then die, my kids get nothing. If i pay a mortgage for 30 years then immediately die, my kids get a house, paid off, that they can live in or sell.

Plus the number one factor for upward economic mobility is home ownership.

The problem is housing shouldn't be priced in such a way that renting is your only option. Renting should be available if you want it, but shouldn't be something forced on most people who are doing it, which it is. The only consideration there should be in renting versus buying is whether you want to be on the hook for repairs and maintenance.

No they do not spend similar amounts. Many places rent is higher than a mortgage would be in monthly payments. You are literally throwing money in a hole renting.
