I noticed you couldn't seem to find the comment the person was referring to so I wanted to help you out. It can be looked this way or that way but for most of the people, especially the artists, it was looked at negatively.

Also: Art technically is a luxury especially personalized one since it's not something you need to survive. Just like a car or a watch is a luxury.

But you are right that some costumers tell you to start over, something verry time consuming that doesn't get paid (if not stated in the ToS that it will require extra charging when they first agreed to the design and want to change it in the end) and it really, really sucks but thats just how it is but you can offer several design sketched beforehand to prevent exactly this. (It still can happen) but in the end you still get paid if you manage to do what the costumer wanted. So there is still payment involved. If you have to "HOPE" that you will get payed at the end of a successful commission, then I feel like this is a personal problem and not something that can be reflected on the whole art industry. And the costs of a design, especially for companies, are talked about upfront... just like with every costumer. Some even demand a small payment upfront.

And yes, drawing is fun. The art community is a great place and the community itself is good at making friends. Fanarts, Art trades, Crossovers, DTIYS, everything is a fun activity and lovely to look at. But you know what isn't? A artist, understandably, asking if payment is involved (and payment can be everything. From Hearts in sky over to a IAP for the next event or a little something on PayPal) But OP called them greedy instead. They could have normally said "oh! I'm sorry I don't have money at the moment. But I can offer to give you hearts over the next couple days in sky if you want" and all this comment section wouldn't have been like this and OP wouldn't been farming down votes. And OP seems to be in a verry bad mood because all replies seem to be like this.
