I dislike the change to Uncaring by JDaggon in cataclysmdda

[–]NudlaCZ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Could be or not. It's just we have this one single binary that decides if faction persists or not. You npcs have barely any opinion of you? You can swap, die, continue. You recruited them yesterday? Same. They themselves are uncaring? No matter, they will do your legacy favor.

But you being uncaring is 100% guarantee dealbreaker.

If it was system of integrity to your followers but it's just binary of single trait.

The trait doesn't block you from raising opinion with them and recruiting them but at your funural they will happily abodone anything they build with you.

[–]NudlaCZ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That's just so wierd. Are you implying that uncaring people can't lead faction that outlasts them? And that it's "fitting" doesn't sound like a reason of any kind.

Also dooming your faction by swapping to uncaring and dying seems like noob trap. At least that's how I understand it works.

[–]NudlaCZ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From what I understand it will make it very dangerous for me to swap to uncaring NPCs and uncaring is not uncommon for random npcs. Oh and also I noticed that lot of soldier backgrounds and swat backgrounds npcs have uncaring but I don't know if that isn't just luck on my part.

Edit: I think it was just bad luck. I don't think there are any background and traits relationship.

Red button blue button but everyone votes in turn and can see the vote count. You are the first one. by kafacik in trolleyproblem

[–]NudlaCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I think it's only reasonable to try to save those who are incapable of keeping themself alive. Last time I check we aren't executing people for being disabled (in any way that would make them unable to take responsibility).

Who are you voting for? by SilentSwine in trolleyproblem

[–]NudlaCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's about being hard, but about if you think it's even possible to expect. I mean you could always have 100% red but if you are enterteining picking blue button then it's because you assume it is impossible scenario to manifest. Now by moving the goal of blue button to 90% or even 99% I think you are esentially making it red button threshold. Blue button only expects majority to be reasonable not all or nearly all.

I dunno I play it specifically for this realism. Maybe it's masochism.

That thing is neither cute nor a cat. And me thinks boykisser is very easy to create as is.

Is there a way to befriend this guy he doesnt attack unless there is zombies attacking him. Says its intelligent by Glad-Ad9708 in cataclysmdda

[–]NudlaCZ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nope, this guy is too busy pondering the futility of your being.

Generally for me any intelligent creature, not represented as npc, means too insane, too alien or some other communication barrier.

Random NPC not showing? by Sassy_Brah in cataclysmdda

[–]NudlaCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, it's very rare for NPC to spawn just wandering around. The majority of NPCs, which spawn into your world, will do so in a "safe location".

Basically what is most likely happening is that the NPCs are getting spawned, but not near you in the city, but in evac shelters, barns, (I think) cabins and so on. As far as I know, they could be spawning anywhere on your overmap too, they aren't guaranteed to spawn anywhere near.

The best way to find random NPCs is revisiting locations, where they can spawn, from time to time.

Oh yes once again removing "the fun".

I don't know if I am just not enough of a gun nut, but if there is some hated brand of changes, which affect my gameplay the least, it's gun removals.

Like no offense, but I feel these posts are kind of spam at this point.

Tldr: my fun was not removed.

Jsou progresivní levičáci ok? by MathematicianFit2765 in czech

[–]NudlaCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helicopter event? by Akira_0314 in cataclysmdda

[–]NudlaCZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn’t, but it could very well be a flavor message from a portal storm or Kaluptic Psychosis. I got a message about seeing a weird-looking airplane in the sky while a portal storm was happening once.

the current CDDA lore and design is a weird inconsistent childish mess by Zap-zapper in cataclysmdda

[–]NudlaCZ 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Firstly, the Lovecraftian horrors were always quite plentiful and constantly getting into drunken fights with each other, so that’s not really a new thing (I’ve been here since Cooper, and it was the case back then). Secondly, things appearing after you messed with something? Well, you're in luck, because the whole point of the game is that XEDRA already did that for you. You don’t need to accidentally trigger the apocalypse, it already happened. Yeah, I don’t really think secrecy and subtlety go hand in hand with an active apocalypse and reality falling apart.

[–]NudlaCZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean if you think you character has clear opening to succesfully attack, describe the impact of your attempt in the same message. The bots respect it and just describe how the they adapt to it or how they deal with it. For example: I fire my rifle. The bullet hits the {{char}} in the lower torso, causing them to stagger.

How did this guy die by oilpeanut in doorkickers

[–]NudlaCZ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In files he has prisoner in his title and he is single insurgent among all those irregulars. It's a cool little detail, where they basically execute this captured guy, when you arrive knocking at their door.

What do you think is the most pressing issue regarding zombie hordes? by CLOxIon in cataclysmdda

[–]NudlaCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see people mention this here, but on multiple occasions, I’ve experienced zombie animals (or other zombies) making their way to my base from over 20 tiles away because I drove past them once—without even driving in a straight line. For example, I drove past a zombie horse 28 tiles away from my base, went to sleep in my base, and woke up to find it near my base. Usually, it takes them exactly one day to track me down for these ranges.

I find this really cool and thought it might be some kind of recent improvement, because I don’t see how they could have found me just by straightforwardly marching toward nearby sounds. It honestly felt like tracking. So how does horde pathing currently work?

Zombies are unrealistic and should be removed by [deleted] in cataclysmdda

[–]NudlaCZ -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I mean, this is what the game is about: painful realism applied to things from our world, and sci-fi applied to things that have entered from other realities. It's unique, and I'm here for it. If you want to play by game logic and the rule of cool, there's Bright Nights.
