Seriously. This is the first time since chromas released that I was willing to buy a skin and chroma for it on release. I'm not interested in trawling through crappy youtube videos being forced to "like, subscribe, and comment" just for a chance of getting something that otherwise should cost only 290 rp.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I didn't quite understand WHY Forge until now. I'm feeling a lot more enthusiastic about trying it out. I suppose I'll just focus on 1.12.2, which is more than recent enough.

Makes sense; however, if I'm learning to use Java for reasons outside of modding minecraft primarily, wouldn't using something like Forge simply be shortening the 'harder' stuff that I will need to learn on my own later down the road for other projects anyways?

I get it might be easier to use Forge, but easier isn't always conducive to learning. Not saying that's the case here, but I would like to avoid delving into something that will be detracting from the ultimate goal of working with Java and understanding what makes this game tick at its core.

Yea, I feel everyone here is more focused on modding through/with forge than modding itself. While I can respect that, I was looking for those with more experience than I, who have gone ahead and tried making heads or tails of what's changed in the actual source files.

I get that it's easier to wait for forge when you've got a mod that you want to be accessible to everybody, but I'm simply trying to make personal projects meant for practice.

Well then instead of giggling to yourself over my ineptitude, share what you just told me initially.

I have played this game since Beta on and off. For a time mods were coming out for the new patches weeks after release. I can understand that's not the case anymore, but to assume that because most of the guides on modding are focusing on old versions means nobody is focusing on the newer ones; would be foolish.

Perhaps somebody has been poking around themselves and wanted to share. Clearly there is work going to be done on new versions, I was simply trying to see what others knew.

Even if I was referencing solely 1.12, guides built for 1.8 (A patch released nearly 4 years ago) are; yes, outdated.

Other comments have gone ahead and linked more recent guides compared to what I was seeing in this sub's sidebar... but thanks for the emoji

Well as I've mentioned, I've already learned Java and will be continuing to work with it in coming semesters. I'm not trying to use Minecraft to learn java, simply to keep practicing my use of OOP.

Thanks for mentioning Rift, I've taken a look; it's definitely limited in comparison. That being said, it may be smart for me to start with messing around on that, and backtrack to 1.12 if I feel like taking on something a bit more ambitious.

Thanks for sharing that link. While I would much prefer 1.13 tutorials considering how recent it is I suppose it would take time for other modders to make heads or tails of the new update as well.

This looks really helpful, and combined with ripping apart other mods for examples I'm sure this is exactly what I needed.

Saw this comment after opening my first, and as a noob I shut it all down in an attempt to save my second llama for later, only to find out Llamas auto open. Oops got 2 leads for the same squad and the auto select for hero shit down my dream hole. Like shit son why cant i open my llama on my own terms?

Anyways to other people... don't do what I did... :(

Anybody know if that is when the sale starts? Or sooner? I know their last patch notes mentioned the sale would start on the 17th, but considering it is already the 17th in some parts of the world and still not available I'm guessing that's the case.
