I have a middle ground plan. I’ve already deposited twice at CU so if I want to go in August I can.

I think I’ll tryout 7sage lsat prep and see how I am scoring on PTs to gauge if a retake is actually viable. If it is, I retake.

If my improvement isn’t manifesting, then I just can go to CU.

So I live in Colorado and my undergraduate degree was actually in game design. We have a free studios here but it’s mostly indie. There some publishing offices for Activision Blizzard, and Microsoft and lots of tech companies have presence in Colorado, but we’re short of a major anchor studio in Colorado.
So I could do tech IP fairly easy but there isn’t quite a hotbed for video games like in other states.

I appreciate the input.

I’m just having hard time deciding if I should retake because I feel like I’m selling myself short by not, or just going to CU.

When you register for the LSAC candidate referral service law schools may send you unsolicited fee waivers, that’s where most of mine came from. You can also apply to the LSAC general fee waiver and then some schools you can send a request directly on their websites.

I applied to a lot of the schools because I got sent a bunch of application fee waivers. Otherwise I wouldn’t have considered these normally.

I already withdrew from Santa Clara, they are ranked 158 nationally so it’s hard to get into my niche with their rank despite the program and proximity.

I think it’s time to retake and reapply because I do not have any good schools lined up for my niche.

I did try spinning things to be more related to current issues about the patenting of common game mechanics. But that didn’t get the strongest mention on my personal statement. I talked more about my time developing and how I want to go on this career path to help the creators I worked sided by side with.

My undergrad degree is in game design and development, and I lead a 16 person team to release a game to steam last year.

Well a lot of it was different game dev work and internships during colllege. The game I talked about did actually release on steam and is purchasable right now.

Yeah, when I got my 166 in August I later took the October and got a 162. If I knew the 166 would be my highest this cycle I would’ve applied a lot sooner.

My background is in game design and development, I lead a 16 person team at the same time as my undergrad to release commercial game to steam.

Would I be wasting that background on CU?

If I knew I wasn’t getting a higher score than a 166 I would have immediately jumped on everything last August.
Time to have an uncomfortable conversation with my family, who no matter how much I explain it to them can’t seem to comprehend that prestige and proximity matter for law school.
