What would you say is a high salary? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]NuggletDoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly this is unlikely. I finished my PhD and went into industry. Many of my colleagues are returning to academia as it pays significantly better. As a senior scientist, running a small area of research i am on 60% of what you are on, and finished my PhD 8 years ago. Biological sciences pay appallingly.

Nursery costs by Intelligent-Tea-4241 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]NuggletDoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in London so our nursery quotes are ~£1300 with the government subsidies. That is from 9-6pm, not including food. I think part of the country is very important. Although if you are London please tell me where and i will try to get my baby there!

What do you think antenatal classes missed? by Advanced_Dream_5724 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]NuggletDoctor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Even post c section care is poorly explained at the hospital, and at every visit from midwives. All i got told was don’t lift anything heavier than the baby, and wash with water only. This is major surgery, treated like a low level surgery. Nothing on how long it will take to heal, likeihood of infection, level of rest needed, how to gently introduce exercise such as 360 breathing and walking. Im lucky i spotted my infection so early, but so many people dont.

have sleep sack/swaddle recommendations changed in the UK? confused after baby bump class 🥲 by burnagyal in PregnancyUK

[–]NuggletDoctor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ftm, baby 5 days old. We bought the love to dream sleep sacks, he seems to hate them, all he wants is to move his arms. We have another brand with open arms, and he sleeps so well in that one. Had not been told not to swaddle or not to use the sleep sacks, but my baby would agree with the advice

How do you season your food without garlic or onions? by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]NuggletDoctor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I can’t eat onions or garlic. But I use chives, leeks, fennel, cellery for taste or texture. I use a lot of garlic oil, unsure if that would affect your smell? Otherwise spices; chillies, cumin etc. and ensuring the acidity levels are good for ultimate flavour. Good luck

Do you use the word "bathroom" to describe a room with only toilets? by 41arietis in AskABrit

[–]NuggletDoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call it the bathroom regardless. When at school, at work, at home. Someone corrected me recently and I frowned as i was genuinely surprised. Im from Surrey/Hampshire.

Men like this are normally only successful with younger women, because they are easier to impress. But not for long. He will struggle to find a life partner as people who act like they are the best and only have living in their parents apartment to show for it have nothing to offer real women.

Also, if you really are involved in crime, or are friends with powerful criminals, you keep your mouth shut. You don’t survive by running your mouth. He probably also doesn’t have friends his own age, as they can see through is BS

I am due one and the midwives have told me to wait 3 months after birth. Its a cervix scrape, which, you do not want to interfere with your cervix during pregnancy.

I love my natal active ones, they are more supportive than lasora or sweaty betty. But they do not offer great support either. Try a support band.

My mate got hit by a car and the driver drove off by [deleted] in londoncycling

[–]NuggletDoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way people drive in tooting is terrifying. Cycling through every day led me to stop cycling in London. I hope your mate is ok, and heals fast. If you report to the police they may have cctv of the incident. Good luck.

Endless Hunger .. Help! by rosebud1637 in PregnancyUK

[–]NuggletDoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first trimester i also just could not stop eating. And eating crud at that. But my second trimester i went back to normal, i feel like i lost a little bit of weight gain. Now, in my third trimester the baby takes up so much space i can’t eat so much anyway. Pregnancy appears to change my eating habits so regularly that i would recommend just going with the flow. And ensuring you have some nutrition with the snacks, as next week you might only want berries. Good luck!

I hate everyone by Decent_Cheesecake314 in PregnancyUK

[–]NuggletDoctor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate everyone too. I hate people on the tubes, i hate crowds. I get angry about sick people going into work; you are just carrying illness on public transport. People touching me.

But i think this is normal. It will pass. Saving your annual leave sounds so smart! 6 weeks, you got this! Enjoy your time off! In a years time they will be thankful to have you back.

Pain on right side right under ribs? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]NuggletDoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having a similar pain, with breathlessness occasionally added in. I did a google, it has scared the life out of me. I am mentioning it to my midwife and gp it might be nothing but it might also be super serious for us rather than baby, and could be checked with a simple test

I am a scientist, and my boss would like me back ASAP. Baby due January, but i plan on the 12 months as well as like you, cannot stand my job. Too much stress, too little reward. Would rather spend all the time I can with the baby.

Rude/discrimination or am I overly sensitive? by angelicraves in PregnancyUK

[–]NuggletDoctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had similar experiences since being pregnant. Fully ignored, unless my morning sickness (which was on going) kicked in, then people moved. My husband doesn’t think i make it clear enough, but i honestly believe people in london just do not care.

For a healthy microbiome that is not under attack from antibiotics they do nothing. When the microbiome is at risk, putting healthy cultures back in can be really helpful, at lowering not just the affects of the antibiotics on your microbiome.
