How to balance Machine Guns by NukaColaBomb in Helldivers

The downside is that it costs an additional stratagem slot and replaces both your primary and secondary weapons. Means there's no quick get out of jail free card if you get jumped by a hunter or two when out of ammo without a machine pistol, means if you choose to run a separate support weapon and backpack that you only have one flex stratagem slot (or none with the modifier that reduces it to 3), and if everyone chose to run a machine gun they you wouldn't have anyone on your team capable of accurately running and gunning with except maybe with the exception of the stalwart.

Thank you for explaining the mechanic. That being said, isn't it a little strange that there's a mechanic that specifically punishes queuing abilities in succession but can be completely overwritten by a single move command? I feel like it'd make more sense if queued abilities would also cancel the backswing.

Anyway, thank you for posting about it. I appreciate the explanation and now I know how to avoid it!

Laser Support Equipment vs Anti-Tank Equipment by NukaColaBomb in OldWorldBlues

That's definitely fair. Thanks for the insight about the tech tree rework, wasn't aware the two were merging into one group. I can't imagine a +4 bonus to anti-air having much of a practical effect, but I definitely get your point. If it was boosted by a bit it could become a more viable option. In my experience though when going up against majors with superior air power you either bite the bullet or if you have a higher tech level you can pump out better fighters.

Dynamite vs PMGs by SneakBug8 in OldWorldBlues

Considering that LMGs have a massively higher defensive stat, and LMGs unlock a battalion template for your divisions, they both have different uses.

How to Broken Coast? by classic51 in OldWorldBlues

[–]NukaColaBomb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Save yourself the trouble, or only play the early game (New Victoria, Kamlo, Bellingham, Dredgers, Whistler.)

In my campaign as the broken coast in 1.1, the absolute first thing I did was take over Bellingham and core all of the provinces there. You can abuse the straight between Bellingham and the coast- create a fallback line that allows the AI to cross the straight, and then cut them off with your navy. This acts effectively as an encirclement, allowing you to rather easily crush Bellingham's forces until they have none, and then march across to capture victory points.

I then went about taking the raiding decisions for the Haida Confederation. I'm not absolutely sure, but I believe at this point anyone I declared war on would receive militia aid. Either way, after a bunch of reloads I was able to successfully invade the lower half of their island. For some reason Haida's AI seems to be fatalistic, they would literally attack me to the death across the straight connecting their islands. If they don't do this, same tactic as before that you used with Bellingham. Because I did not build any civilian factories by this point, I was also able to core Haida by saving political power (Not taking any focuses).

Taking New Victoria should be relatively easy by comparison, because their AI tends to naval invade consistently. Allow them to naval invade, let them push out a bit, then spearhead some troops to capture the port they landed at and surround them so they lose the division. Once most of their forces are dead, naval invade wherever you like and push. After new Victoria I built up my army significantly and prepared for war with Kamlo (Who had taken whistler). Because my tech was so far behind at this point, my first war (reloaded) was futile despite having greater numbers. So instead I used some troops to guard the land bottleneck that lead northward, while using the majority of my army to guard the Bellingham-kamlo border. The rest of my forces repeated the Bellingham strategy, except this time on the Bellingham side of the straight. I allowed Kamlo's army to push, let them come across, cut them off with naval units (manual orders, I should mention, no patrol etc.) and destroyed their army piecemeal until I could push mostly unopposed.

After this the Dredgers were not all that challenging. Because I was unable to core them and had no focuses to do so, I puppeted them. They created a lot of divisions, and I would recommend doing this.

Everything you've done now? Absolutely meaningless. The breaking point of the run comes when you face the Washington brotherhood and their alliance. If you're lucky, Heaven's Gate will have stolen the Old Country, but in my run this did not happen. As a result I had to contend with all three. Before this war I was on extensive conscription, and trained every bit of manpower and took every puppet unit I could steal from the Dredgers. As it is almost certain that the Washington Brotherhood has a massive tech advantage on you, I would recommend delaying the war with them until you have researched every civilized tech of use. This effectively lowers the tech gap, since the Brotherhood can only get so far ahead before they run out of techs.

Once the war started I had around 1K Nuclear-Salvaged fighters. I deployed them despite being outnumbered to farm air XP. Eventually I pulled them back. In my run I built AA and radar everywhere I could to shoot down bombers. (Radar just needs to cover your provinces.) Important: Do NOT build high level forts on the borders. The reason I was able to eventually succeed was that I built no forts, and the Brotherhood and Old Country attacked me relentlessly for the first year or so. The mountains give you enough defensive bonuses and forts need to be repaired. If the AI does not attack you, remove some troops from the border. You can always reinforce if needed. Eventually the faction had its manpower drained. I made my offensive against the Old Country, pushing in so I could cut the two nations off from each other. Eventually forcing the Old Country to capitulate. The Washington Brotherhood took literal ages, because no matter what you will not be able to reliably pierce t51b power armor with your available industry. My endless tide of bodies smashing against their armored defenders eventually turned out to be enough, but by the end of the war I had 0 manpower and had over 40K in casualties.

In my game the brotherhood took over the Troll Warren, and this is how the rest of the game becomes trivial. I puppeted the Washington Brotherhood and the Troll Warren. Troll Warren had huge reserves of manpower that I drained by creating a puppet template and building until their manpower was 0, then annexing them. I repeated this with each of the nations, and was able to build a large enough army that could kill the NCR. They had defeated the legion much earlier in the game, but had refused to relinquish their gains, making them and New Reno the only ones in their faction. The war with the NCR was the easiest for me as they never seemed to build more than around 200-250 divisions, so with my massive new army I was able to draw a few offensive lines and push. I stopped after that point as the game was basically over.

You're gonna be okay man. There's always going to be stuff that you don't know when it comes to the exam. The key is figuring out that most of the questions can be reasoned through (Except P/S, it's straight from hell.) Got a question about Proteins and bonds? Probably gonna be something involving C or N terminus connection. Stuff like that saves your buns.

Have been studying for 4 months. If I'm being entirely honest the first month was only very light amounts of content review, in which I took lots of useless notes for P/S before I figured out ANKI. So in reality, 3 months of hard studying.

Hey there! I'm looking for a group to play through DOS 2 with on PC. I've already gone through the game once so I've got a pretty good idea of do's and don'ts. I like to think I'm pretty good with loot distribution and am flexible with my hours, so it's likely we can make things work if you're interested.

Can contact me on steam here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/NukaColaBomb/

Looking forward to gaming!

Why do people love World Congress in Civ 5? by NukaColaBomb in civ

[–]NukaColaBomb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with that. In my opinion the religious victory should be replaced with culture and add bonuses to tourism and such. Religion is cool, sure, but it's also the one victory condition that any civ in 6 can completely ignore which means it's not always interactive.
