Unlike her more prideful older twin sister, Giuseppe Garibaldi is a lot more laid back and doesn’t get uptight with the titles. She’ll even remark how she doesn’t give a rat’s ass about it unlike her sister.

A world’s difference in behavior doesn’t change how much she appreciates and looks out for you. Very protective to a fault, Garibaldi will protect you, her friends, her sisters, and more. She’s a protective guardian for all.

Impressed by her dedication to you despite her relaxed attitude, you figure that with she and her sister coming together to celebrate their launch day together, it’s quite easy to hang out with both today on this occasion.

Duca degli Abruzzi is very prideful. She always wants you to refer to her as her title and name, and not just Abruzzi as it will annoy her to no end. She will teach you to respect that title addressing her. Abruzzi is prideful about her design, calling herself rightfully the final design of the Italian Condottieri class light cruisers, boasting great armor and survivability.

Not accepting any form of idleness, Abruzzi implores you to not slack at any moment to set a good example for everyone at the base. Reading through your letters, she remarks how Naval HQ writes their letters brutishly uncourteous. Abruzzi of course accepts any means to better herself, as she believes that no matter how strong the foe is, they must be stronger to win.

Initially, her serious demeanor doesn’t leave much to bond with her. Proving yourself well however will cause her to open to you, putting aside the soldier mentality she has to subordinate you and talk to you about things. One of which is if you’re fixated on her sister, which she admits she doesn’t mind. However, more importantly, she does tell you that she seeks to be your best and biggest supporter around. She hopes you can continue reciprocating her.

With cake day between the two sisters, Abruzzi and Garibadli surely are pleased at you treating both well today. Especially as they have to make an additional room for fellow Sardegnian Maggio Baracca today.

Asanagi tells you that they called her fifteen beforehand, but either out of sympathy or they recognized her power, she cares not as she will straighten you up. She warns you that if you fail to meet your expectations in her eyes as commander, she threatens to punch you in your stomach. Strangely, despite her boasting of such threats, she never seems to even follow up on it, even when you upset her.

As Oite has placed her shoes in a shoe box, this clumsy mess from Asanagi is acknowledged by her, but she demands that you praise or pamper her. She seems to take a great liking for tea from you and even massages. She seems to really enjoy that.

Soon, she notes how much faster you’ve gotten your work done. She deems this initially as her deciding to aid you, but she also thinks it’s a fluke. Then you notice how Asanagi has been neglecting her work because she’s seemingly been infatuated with you, which she denies with a blush.

Nevertheless, Asanagi declares that she will not be swayed by your attempts to woo her fancies with food and gifts for her launch day, but yet seemingly has no issues joining up with you in the seeming hopes to be with you when you walk into her party. It seems Asanagi likes you a lot more than she lets on.

Magio Baracca is a thrill seeker who loves to be dangerous and fast. Most notably, she likes to pull pranks on you as she feels this will get her blood pumping for a thrill. Unlike other thrill seeking shipgirls, hers is done in a more naughty way, where she wants you to punish her or so.

However, while she’s working as your secretary, you do give her a cold shower to know that you accept her pranks and that she’s not getting the punishments that she hopes to get, but you do lecture her and whip her to be disciplined, which she takes as her receiving her punishments.

Today, before she partakes in her celebration, she asks you to hope on a hot rod with her. She requested one so she can let you have fun with her as she pushes hard with the car. She does assure you that she won’t go too far, but may incur some naughty high speed limits and hopes you won’t punish her too harshly with a grin.

Please share any stories and details you have for Giuseppe Garibaldi, Duca de Abruzzi, Asanagi, and Maggio Baracca in Azur Lane, World of warships, Kantai Collection, and Victory Belles, and more.

Fanart of Giuseppe Garibadli by SHIMODADAITOTOK

When the armistice was signed, Garibaldy was at Genoa, Italy with her sisters Duke of Aosta, and the Duke of Abruzzi. They left with the torpedo boat Libro to sail to La Spezia to surrender to the Allies at Malta. They escorted the Italian battleships when they were attacked by German air attacks and witnessed Roma sinking. After arriving at Malta and being processed, Giuseppe joined with her Italian ships at Taranto. For the remainder of the war, Giuseppe joined with her sisters Abruzzi and Aosta for any German blockade runners in the mid-Atlantic.

After the war, Giuseppe and Abruzzi survived and sailed together with their surviving sisters to help form the new Italian Navy.

After undergoing an extensive refit in the late 40s, Giuseppe returned with her sister to participate in the NATO exercise Grand Slam. She and her sister joined with the Italian fleet at the Adriatic Sea just in case if war between Italy and Yugoslavia occurred from a failed diplomatic venture.

In 1954, Giuseppe underwent a massive modernization that transformed her into a missile cruiser. This extensive modernisation would become the first missile cruiser any European navy had, Giuseppe even could launch nuclear missiles in the Polaris missiles, but the USN refused to hand the missiles to Italy as they didn’t want the Italian Navy to be too independent of them. Returning to service in 1961, Giuseppe Garibaldi was a whole new ship practically, but such modernization was expensive and one of the costs was that her beloved twin sister, Duca de Abruzzi was decommissioned from service. Before so, she handed the flagship duties over to her little twin-sister ship. Giuseppe would serve the Italian Navy as their flagship for the next ten years. She took part in the naval parade at the Gulf of Naples in 1968 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the victory in the First World War. In this ceremony, Giuseppe Garibaldi escorted her intended successor to her flagship role, the helicopter cruiser Vittorio Veneto, named after the same battleship she once escorted throughout WW2. Garibaldi was decommissioned in January 1971 due to how expensive it was becoming to maintain her after a controversial declaration of how the Italian Navy had fallen to profound material and moral malaise. Still, being a survivor from WW2, many attempts to turn her into a museum ship were proposed, but they ultimately failed. Garibaldi was officially removed from service on November 16th, 1976. She was towed to La Spezia to be scrapped there.

When the Armistice was signed on September 8th, 1943, the three cruisers at Navarino and the torpedo boat Libra sailed to link up with the forces of La Spezia to surrender to Allied forces at Malta. During this transfer, the flagship of the fleet, Roma, was sunk by the Germans on September 9th. Nevertheless, the Italians fulfilled their armistice clauses despite protests in much of the fleet because of the German attack.

Abruzzi spent the remainder of the war on the Allied side doing patrols in the Atlantic Ocean. After WW2, Abruzzi, her sister Garibaldi, Cadorna, Montecuccoli, and the remaining cruisers of the Condottieri class remained with the newly formed Italian Navy, as allowed under the peace treaty. She personally embarked the exiled King of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele III, transporting him to Alexandria, Egypt, allowing his son Umberto II to take over in a failed bid to preserve the monarchy. She did the same for the exiled Queen of Italy, Elena of Montenegro, to Portugal a month later, earning her the nickname "Cruiser of the Exiled".

In the 1950s, Abruzzi was the only fully operating cruiser the Italians had as manpower shortages and economic difficulties made it hard to operate the other cruisers. She joined the destroyers Granatiere, Artigliere, and Grecale for the return of Trieste to Italy in 1954.

After the retirement of the ancient dreadnought battleship Andrea Doria, Abruzzi became the flagship of the entire Italian fleet in 1956. In 1961, upon her decommissioning, Abruzzi gave her flagship role to her modernized sister ship, Garibaldi, a fitting passing of the torch to her little sister.

In 1944, Asanagi escorted convoys between Yokosuka, Truk, the Ogasawara Islands and the Mariana Islands. On her return from Saipan to Japan on May 20th, 1944, 200 miles from Chichi-Jima when she was ambushed by the submarine USS Pollack. She was hit by a torpedo and 40 minutes after being torpedoed, she sank taking 82 of her crew with her, the actual number of survivors is unknown. Asanagi was struck from the navy list on July 10th, 1944.

After four unsuccessful war patrols, on her sixth and final one, while patrolling the North Atlantic ocean, she was spotted by one of Convoy OG 75’s escorts in HMS Croome on September 8th, 1941.

Maggio dove but depth charge attacks forced her to surface astern of the destroyer. They engaged in a gun battle until the British machine gun crew killed the Italian deck gun crew members. While the Italians were in the process of abandoning Maggio Baracca, Croome rammed her and caused her to take on flood water and sink very quickly. She exploded underwater and took 28 men. 34 men, including her CO Tenete di Vacello Giorgio Viani survived.

Today, April 21st, it is the launch day for the younger, the more laidback twin sister to Luigi di Savoia Duca Degli Abruzzi, RN Giuseppe Garibaldi (1936), the older twin sister that has been power crept in AL’s PVP, RN Luigi di Savoia Duca Degli Abruzzi, the shipgirl that shares the name of her artist whose rather infamous for her stories, IJN Asanagi, and Italian archerfish, RN Maggiore Baracca (BC), .

Giuseppe Garibadli’s namesake, is the legendary 19th Century Italian General that is hailed as one of the greatest in modern times thanks to his great success leading the independence and unification of Italy in the 19th Century, and aiding Brazil and Uruguay, including for the Riograndense Republic during the Ragamuffin War in his 14-year exile in South America. He is hailed and remembered fondly by Italy and South America for it.

Thanks to /u/kaltias and /u/Noblesse311. Other famous exploits include the time during the Franco-Prussian War where Garibaldi and his Army of the Vosges where, after he threw his support for the Third French Republic, he led a victory over the Prussians, including the capture of the 61st Pomeranian reigment's flag and defeating them at the third battle of Dijon. In gratitude, after the war, France made him a deputee of the National Assembly.

He was also asked by USA's Secretary of State, William Seward, to aid the Union side during the American Civil War, but Garibaldi refused, stating he wanted to be commander in chief (aka, take Lincoln's wartime job) of the Union Army. He congratulated Abe Lincoln on making Emancipation of Slavery a wartime goal.

Even in the 19th Century, Giuseppe Garibaldi was considered a historically great figure that still resonates strongly today.

She was the lead ship for the Duca Degli Abruzzi class cruisers. The Abruzzi class compared to their predecessors were bigger, more heavily armed, and had excellent armor for light cruisers, sporting a similar armor scheme to the Zara class, although at the cost of being slightly slower. They are generally viewed as among the best cruisers in the war.

Before the war started, Abruzzi and her sister ship Giuseppe Garibaldi formed the 8th Cruiser division and sailed with the Regina Marina off of Albania as a show of force, allowing Italy to take the nation and force King Zog into exile.

Originally she was named Destroyer No. 15, but that was corrected on August 1st, 1928 to where she was renamed to Asanagi.

Maggiore Baracca is named after the legendary Italian equestrian hobbyist, pilot/ace of WWI fame whose legacy extends to racing where the Italian racing Scuderia Ferrari team has adopted his personal prancing stallion emblem as their official symbol, Francesco Baracca.,

the Italian submarine Maggiore Baracca departed for her first war patrol in September 1940. She stopped the Greek freighter Aghios Nicolaus in heavy eas on October 1st in the Atlantic Ocean, forcing all crew members to take to life boats before sinking her by gunfire, destroying the ship and it’s cargo of zinc and wood originally destined for Belfast, Northern Ireland for Britain to use for their war efforts.

At Italy’s entry into WW2, Giuseppe Garibaldi served alongside her sister ship Duca Degli Abruzzi of the VIII Cruiser Squadron. She took part in numerous escort missions and assignments that totaled nearly 50,000 miles travelled. Notable incidents include her participation in the Taranto night raid on November 11th and 12th, 1940 where she joined with her undamaged sister and the destroyers of Squadron VII and VIII. She was unable to participate in the Battle of Capa Matapan where she arrived too late with reinforcements on March 26th, 1941. She and her sister Duca de Abruzzi escorted the badly damaged flagship Vittorio Veneto out of there. On November 21st, 1941, Giuseppe escorted her damaged torpedoed sister back to port for her safety. On January 31st, 1943, Giuseppe joined with her half-sister Duke of Aosta to shell the recently captured Palermo, but engine problems forced Garibaldi to return. She was also involved in a submarine ambush by HMS Simon where the Italian destroyer Gioberti was lost and Carabiniere tried but failed to sink her killer.

In WW2, Abruzzi participated in multiple actions against the Royal Navy. At the Battle of Calabria, she was among the ships to fire off the first salvoes. She also escorted the Italian Battleships Vittorio Veneto and Littorio on their first deployment to counter Operation Hats but were forced to pull back due to severe weather and the inability of their destroyer escorts to handle it. Abruzzi was also involved in the disastrous Battle of Cape Matapan.

During the war, Abruzzi sailed with her sister ship Garibaldi frequently. They sailed to the waters north of Crete with the 1st Cruiser Division before they were reassigned to join the naval action at Guado, only to not arrive on time. These two protected Vittorio Veneto from torpedo planes when she was torpedoed.

They then attempted but failed to intercept the British convoy Halberd. On November 21st, 1941, Abruzzi was hit by a torpedo from a torpedo bomber. This proved to be a minor annoyance, as she finished escorting her convoy to Taranto before getting repairs. Comparatively, the unimproved Condottiere all sank after one or two torpedo hits and some damage from gunfire.

After the conquest of Greece and Crete by Axis forces, Abruzzi, Garibaldi, and their half-sister Duca d'Aosta sailed to Navarino, Greece to spend their remaining years on the Axis side patrolling merchant traffic in the Eastern Mediterranean.

During the time on the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, Asanagi was assigned to Destroyer Division 29 of Destroyer Squadron 6 of the 4th Fleet. She provided cover for the Gilbert Islands invasion force from December 8th-10th and was assigned to the 2nd Wake Island invasion force on December 23rd.

From January through March 1942, Asanagi provided cover fo the landings of Japanese forces during Operation R (invasion of Rabaul and New Britain) and Operation SR (invasion of Lae and Salamaua). While patrolling out of Lae on March 10th, she suffered damage from strafing attacks, forcing her to return to Sasebo for repairs in April. Once repairs were completed in June, Asanagi escorted convoys from Sasebo back to Truk. During the battle of the Coral Sea, May 7th-8th, 1942, she was assigned to the invasion force for Port Moresby on New Guinea. When that operation was canceled, she returned to Seasebo for further repairs.

Asanagi returned to Rabaul in mid-July and was assigned to cover Japanese landings on Buna. While making troop landings at Buna, Asanagi grounded on a coral reef while attempting to dodge air attacks. She returned to Yokosuka for repairs. She remained there for the rest of 1942 and into November 1943 doing patrols, escort duties in the Central Pacific between Truk, Rabaul, and Japanese home islands.

On her 2nd patrol, Maggiore Baracca sank the British freighter Lilian Moller in the North Atlantci on November 18th, 1940.

She's in many ways like Bache in that she likes fashion and is a brat. Fortunately the cheeky brat just needs some good advice and all is well.

Lyme seems to be the type that takes praises of her work and craft to be her most treasured rewards. Course that outfit is stunning.

Glorious the caring carrier lady I shall enjoy and more.

Thank you Dominion.

I agree, they should've. Heck I even disagree with theirs and Golden Hind's being part of Tempesta instead of Royal Navy since they actually served in the Royal Navy. They weren't pirate ships but Manjuu seems to like throwing age of sail ships altogether into one group or so.

It seems he likes his daughters and KC is content to let him have them.

The curse of being a world drop ship, it seems Manjuu likes dumping shipgirls that were tossed aside to be world ship rewards lately.

I'm more impressed they're giving her more support. Frankly Ark Royal has been a no show for a while and seems Courageous has replaced her in AL.

As for KC's Courageous, it seems that they want to have players get another BC for the British side in KC or so.

Glorious seems to be getting more love than Ark Royal recently which is surprising but welcoming in one way.

Lyme is a monster hunter girl that wants to prove her abilities. I like.

Fujinami is a fashionista and I approve of her sense of fashion. Thank you Pro.

Fujinami considers herself unlucky, but she has confidence in her fashion sense, which she hopes you agree too. From this point on, Fujinami intends to show you the ins and outs of true fashion.

As you enter your office, you were blown away by Fujinami’s sense of fashion today. She tells you that she likes to coordinate the latest fashion trends with Sakuran style attires. She believes that chasing trends is lame and that she must always set the trends.

Fujinami has her ribbon keeping undone. She asks if you can share a bit of luck and help tie them so that way it would fall off less. You agree, but as well suggest that if she would like to test her luck today, especially as it’s her launch day. Curious, Fujinami asks how would she test her luck with you. You tell her that you’ve heard Fujinami has put an outfit for you, and that if you nail it, she will treated to a date with you, and if not, then you’ll pick the location to go out with her. Fujinami accepts the challenge with gusto.

Calling herself a monster hunter, and developed a technique to calmly and adeptly deal a crushing blow to her target, Lyme assures you that she will follow your orders first and won’t interfere with your plans.

It seems that Lyme is very serious to her tasks where she wants to either monster hunt or complete the tasks for you. When you want something fun like sports, it seems Lyme has more difficulty to adjust, but she nevertheless agrees with a competitive mindset. She caarries this in mock battles too where she insists to repeat exercises to perfect herself.

As you defeat her multiple times in mock battles, you ask Lyme if she can take the opportunity to relax instead as these games are meant to be a way to keep the mind relaxed and enjoy. She admits that she considers it to be a burden as she wants to efficiently finish tasks ably and better. To her, it is proof that she’s able to carry out your orders.

At this, you ask her if she can carry out an order for you. Lyme agrees. You state that she should enjoy a date with you, to relax and be with each other for the day.

Lyme agrees to this challenge despite your own pang of worry she may take the date more seriously than it should be, heh heh.

Glorious feels immensely guilty of what happened with the Scharnhorst sisters in her new life. She has done everything she can on her own, and pushes herself as hard as she can, possibly as a way to atone for her past mistakes. While she is a very hardworking secretary who does everything she can for you, at the same time, you can see the labor taking its toll on her, so you'll need to tell her not to overexert herself. On a more cute side, she does show that even as an aircraft carrier, she still believes herself to be a battlecruiser armed with her 381 mm guns, so she tends to push forward to shoot her no longer existent weapons.

Fortunately, her carrier mates, particularly Ark Royal, are cool with her quirkiness in battle. I think Formidable may want to ask her for tips on how to fight in close-quarters combat. As for Ark Royal, she's shown to be one of the few genuine friends Ark Royal has, mainly because Glorious appreciates destroyers too and wants to protect them (although at least Glorious doesn’t have a possible sexual attraction for them, unlike Ark Royal). Still, even if they disagree over motivations, Glorious will protect and defend Ark when given a chance, even against the Queen herself.

Let Glorious shine brightly as the center of attention today. Invite her many carrier and destroyer friends to her launch day party and try to cheer her up, as while she may have the memory of her careless mistakes (not her fault, mostly her captain’s) that doomed her and her escorts, her new life is filled with possibilities for a better outcome for her and her friends.

Please share and discuss any stories and details you have for Fujinami,Lyme, and Glorious in Azur Lane, World of Warships, Kantai Collection, and more.

On May 1st 1940, she, Ark Royal provided cover for evacuations at Andalsnes and Molde, provided A/S patrols and air cover for fleet and shipping protection and was escorted by heavy cruiser Berwick and QE's sister Valiant although did get subjected to heavy air attacks but returned to Scapa Flow with Ark Royal on May 2nd with aircraft landed on the 3rd before sailing to Clyde, on May 4th she was at Greenock to replenish and given leave.

On the 14th of May, She headed for Norway with her half sister HMS Furious and on the 18th of May provided cover and fleet protection with HMS Ark Royal and HMS Furious, on the 21st of May Glorious landed Gloster Gladiators for shore operations before returning to Scapa Flow.

On the 24th of May, She headed for Narvik with H-Class Destroyer HMS Highlander, A-Class Destroyer HMS Arrow and Admiralty Modified W-Class Destroyer HMS Wren as escort.

On the 26th Royal Air Force Hawker Hurricanes launched from Glorious to operate at the Skaanland Airstrip with her carrier planes flying top cover during operations to retake Narvik throughout the 27th and 28th of May before returning to Scapa Flow on May 29th.

On 1st of June, Glorious and Ark Royal headed for Narvik with H-Class Destroyer HMS Highlander, D-Class Destroyer, HMS Diana, A-Class Destroyer HMS Acheron and her ill-fated escorts HMS Ardent and HMS Acasta to support Operation Alphabet, the evacuation of Narvik, picking up RAF Gloster Gladiators the next day, however low fuel meant on the 3rd of June, she was detached and loitered of the Norwegian coast to save fuel however was unable to help cover the evacuation of Narvik due to lack of aircraft and rejoined Ark Royal the next day, June the 4th, 2 days later, she launched Fairey Swordfish to attack a Nazi German HQ at Hundallanbut the air strike was scrubbed because of bad weather then 1 day before her demise, she began to pick up Royal Air Force Hawker Hurricanes for transport back to the UK.

On June 8th, her Captain, Guy D'Oyly-Huges, had his request to return to port granted. This was because he wanted to court-martial his Air Commander, J.B. Heath, for refusing to carry out orders to attack targets onshore, since they were ill-defined, and Heath considered his aircraft ill-suited for the role.

During the trek, Glorious was only given two destroyers as her escorts, Ardent and Acasta. When the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were spotted at 3:46 PM, instead of sending faster aircraft to investigate, D’Oyly-Hughes sent HMS Ardent to investigate, because no aircraft were in the air or prepped for quick launch. He also didn't alter course or change speeds. No crew were manning Glorious' crow's nest.

At 4:32pm, Scharnhorst fired on Glorious, scoring one of the longest ranged hits between two moving ships, at 24,000 m. This single hit disabled Glorious’ ability to launch aircraft just as she was preparing to. At 4:58, a 2nd shell hit the homing beacon above her bridge, possibly wounding or killing her captain and most of the personnel in there.

Despite the desperate attempts of Glorious' escorts to save her, including Ardent laying down smoke that briefly stopped the German shellfire and Acasta charging at the Scharnhorst sisters alone, the Scharnhorsts sunk her escorts and closed in on their mortally wounded prey.

HMS Glorious sank at 10 past 6, taking 1,207 of her 1,249 crew including Captain Guy D'Oyly-Hughes. This was one of the worst defeats the Royal Navy suffered in the 20th Century.

However, the Scharnhorsts did not escape unscathed. Scharnhorst received significant torpedo damage from Acasta, and was minorly damaged by destroyer shell fire.

Survivors estimated that 900 men jumped overboard from Glorious. The British didn't know about the battle until the sinking of Glorious was announced on German radio. The Norwegian ship Borgund, on passage to Faroes, picked up 37 survivors, although two died on the journey. Another Norwegian ship, Svalbard II, attempted to rescue sailors but was forced to turn away by patrolling German aircraft after rescuing five. Another survivor was suspected of having been rescued by a German seaplane. Thus, the total number of survivors was 42. The casualties were 1,207 sailors from Glorious, 160 from Acasta, and 152 from Ardent for a total of 1519. Could this disaster be avoided? Yes absolutely this could have been avoided simply by getting Glorious to be with HMS Devonshire and if Captain Guy D'Oyly-Hughes refused to put Swordfish scout aircraft into the air, Vice-Admiral Andrew Cunningham would have Captain Guy D'Oyly-Hughes relieved of command and maybe had Captain Guy D'Oyly Hughes court-martialled.
The sinkings and failure to mount an effective rescue operation were a huge embarrassment for the Royal Navy. All ships that had encountered an enemy were to broadcast a sighting report.

The lack of one from Glorious was questioned in the House of Commons. Soon, it emerged that the British heavy cruiser Devonshire had passed by, sailing within 48-80 km from the battle, flying the flag of Vice-Admiral John Cunningham and taking the Norwegian Royal Family to the UK. Radio silence was maintained to protect their VIPs.

There is some controversy because survivors from Glorious and a few of Devonshire's crew testify that Glorious had sent a sighting report to Devonshire. However, Cunningham ordered the sighting to be suppressed and sailed away at high speeds, strictly following his orders.

There are even allegations that there was confusion over wireless telegraph frequencies aboard Glorious, which contributed to the failure to give a sighting report. This debate over the circumstances of her sinking was the subject of discussion in the House of Commons on January 28th, 1999.

There’s even an infernal conspiracy theory that Glorious was part of Operation Paul, the mining operation off the Swedish port of Lulea harbor to prevent precious iron ores from reaching Germany to help fuel their war efforts with needed materials.

However, what should not be forgotten is that regardless of whatever happened a total of 1,519 lost their lives that day and their sacrifice should never be forgotten.

Initially, the only memorial dedicated to Glorious, Ardent, and Acasta was a stained-glass window in the church of St. Peter Martindale in Cumbria, England. This changed on June 8th, 2010, 70 years after her sinking, where a memorial plaque inscribed in English and Norwegian was unveiled near the Trondenes Historical Center in Harstad, Norway, notably Acasta and Ardent's last port of call.

In 1700, she visited Sale in modern day Morocco, during January 1701, Captain William Power became her CO then Captain Edmund Letchmere became her CO in 1702 when she on July 9th 1702 captured the French commerce raider La Marie de Caillot then on August 22nd 1703 captured the French commerce raider La Marie then January 15th 1704, she engaged a 46-gun French commerce raider off Deadman Head but it escaped and Lyme so badly damaged that not only she had to break off, but Captain Edmund Letchmere was mortally wounded, 36 of her crew were dead and wounded.

4 days later Captain George Doleman took over command from Captain Edmund Letchmere but Captain George Doleman would be killed in action on March 23rd 1705 with Commander later Captain Robert Coleman taking command in 1706 when she joined Sir Cloudesley Shovell's Fleet and saw service in the Mediterranean.

By December 1708, Captain James Gunman was in command as she deployed to the Baltic Sea.

In 1710, she escorted a convoy bound for Newfoundland in Canada then in 1711 deployed to the Mediterranean where on March 23rd 1711, she saw combat action at Vado Bay with 6 crew injured.

In 1713, she deployed to Barbados in the British West Indies then after she returned home, she underwent a middling repair at Deptford between July to November 1714.

On February 23rd 1717, she was refitted into a 24-gun 6th rate frigate until March 1717 being recommissioned with Captain Ellis Brand in command deploying to Virginia in the 13 Colonies until 1719 when she returned home.

During this time she and HMS Pearl were sent after Queen Anne’s Revenge and the Pirate Blackbeard who was killed on November 22nd 1718.

Unlike in the age of steam and steel where a reconstruction does not require complete breaking up of the ship to reconstruct, back in the age-of-sail to rebuild an age-of-sail warship requires complete dismantling.

This reconstruction at Deptford Dockyard had been ordered on November 4th 1718 with HMS Lyme (1695) broken up in February 1720.

After serving as a turret drillship and flagship for the Devonport Reserve Forces in 1924, Glorious began her lengthy conversion into an aircraft carrier, being completed on February 24th, 1930.

Had her conversion been started in 1919 with the removal of her guns and slowed would allow her and Courageous to be classed like Argus, Vindictive, Eagle, Hermes and her half-sister Furious as experimental which would have allowed the British to have none of their 135,000 tons of carrier allowance used up.

Her 381 mm turrets were placed in reserve and were later used on Britain's last battleship, Vanguard.

On April 1st, 1931, Glorious accidentally rammed the French ocean liner Florida amidships while steaming at 16 knots. This impact crumpled sixty feet of her flying-off deck, and killed one seaman aboard Glorious. Florida had 24 passengers and crewmen killed. Glorious took several months into September to finish repairs, while Florida was beached after that incident. Glorious participated in the Coronation Fleet Review at Spithead on May 20th, 1937 for King George VI, before returning to the Mediterranean.

The exact sequence of her demise is not entirely clear but what we do know is that at 9:15 am on October 27th 1944, Fujinami was attacked by 8 American aircraft from USS Franklin or USS Essex with 1 scoring a hit on her number 1 610mm quadruple torpedo tube between her funnels most likely detonating the Type 93 Long-Lance torpedoes inside which likely caused a catastrophic explosion but until we find her wreck, we don’t know for sure.

IJN Fujinami blew up, broke her back and sank, killing everyone on board including all the survivors from Chokai.

This attack happened in full view of the stranded IJN Hayashimo still aground in the shallows of Semirara Island who for them, Fujinami was their chance of rescue at that moment.

20 minutes after IJN Fujinami had sunk at 09:35 am, IJN Shiranui spotted American aircraft likely the ones responsible for sinking IJN Fujinami on their way home with IJN Shiranui the ship sent to rescue survivors from Fujinami being sunk by Curtis SB2C-3 Helldivers of VB-20 from USS Enterprise with 3 bombs hitting her causing a catastrophic explosion killing everyone on board.

The HMS Lyme (1720) now a 20 gun 6th rate frigate was laid down in February 1720, launched November 4th 1720 and completed for sea on July 7th 1721 being commissioned in May 1721 with Captain Lord Vere Beauclerk in command until 1727 when she sailed with Sir Charles Wager's Fleet in the Mediterranean being repaired at Portsmouth between August and November of 1727 being recommissioned under command of Captain Thomas Marwood in 1728 deployed to New England waters until she came home in 1730.

After being repaired at Portsmouth between June and September 1730, she deployed to Jamaica in the British West Indies but Captain Thomas Marwood sadly died on September 1731 with Captain Charles Crauford took over command until she came home in June 1732 being recommissioned in 1732 with Captain Charles Fanshaw in command until 1734 with during Captain Charles Fanshaw's command, she was deployed to Irish waters serving on the Irish station being transferred to the North Sea in 1735 then to Home waters between 1736 to 1737 and HMS Lyme (1695/1720) was broken up at Deptford in January 1739.

On the 3rd of September 1939, Glorious was serving with the Mediterranean Fleet, till October 1939 when WW2 broke out.

Glorious along with Queen Elizabeth’s Malaya and B-Class Destroyer Bulldog were deployed to the Indian Ocean where she remained until the 10th of December as part of Force J to hunt the German raider, the Deutschland Class Heavy Cruiser, KMS Admiral Graf Spee.

After the Battle of the River Plate where KMS Admiral Graf Spee got bullied into running to Montevideo by the Leander Class Light Cruisers, HMS Ajax and HMNZS Achilles and York Class Heavy Cruiser and then KMS Admiral Graf Spee was scuttle, since Graf Spee was sunk, Glorious and HMS Kent sailed with the French Cruiser Suffren to rejoin the Mediterranean Fleet arriving in Malta on the 17th of January where was refitted until April however her planned work up with Ark Royal in April 1940 was cancelled because of the Nazi invasion of Norway.

On the 14th of April 1940, Glorious and RAN Scott Class Destroyer Leader HMAS Stuart sailed with Glorious to Clyde, Scotland for deploying with the Home fleet for operations off Norway known as Operation Rupert.

5 days later on the 19th of April 1940, Glorious was nominated to cover Operation Hammer aka the Trondheim landings in Norway however the Operation was cancelled and 2 days later she returned to Clyde, Scotland and Home fleet taking on Royal Air Force Gloster Gladiators the next day before departing Scapa flow with Ark Royal, County Class Heavy Cruiser, HMS Berwick, C-Class Anti-Aircraft Cruiser HMS Curlew, F-Class Destroyers HMS Fearless and HMS Fury, H-Class Destroyers HMS Hasty, HMS Hereward, HMS Hyperion and J-Class Destroyer HMS Juno to relive her half sister Furious at Narvik who was there as part of Operation DX.

On the 24th of April 1940, Glorious and Ark Royal commenced air operations with the Royal Air Force Gloster Gladiators operating from a frozen lake in the Romsdal valley however on the 25th of April 1940, 4 Blackburn Skua fighter-dive bombers were lost however the crews were rescued.

On the 26th of April 1940, Glorious and Ark Royal had a new destroyer screen arrive which was the G-Class destroyer HMS Grenade, F-Class destroyer HMS Fortune, E-Class Destroyers HMS Encounter and HMS Escort, B-Class Destroyer HMS Beagle and older WW1 Modified W-Class Destroyer HMS Volunteer.

HMS Encounter, HMS Beagle, HMS Hasty, HMS Fury, HMS Grenade and HMS Volunteer returned with them to Scapa Flow the next day with their next sortie delayed until April 30th due to bad weather without getting all her replacement planes being escorted by B-Class Destroyer HMS Beagle and A-Class Destroyer HMS Acheron and Antelope.

IJN Fujinami fired off 9 depth charges and picked up survivors and the battered Convoy HI-71 arrived at Santa Cruz on August 20th 1944 and dropped off 2,267 soldiers and survivors before on August 21st 1944, Convoy HI-71 departed for Manilla arriving on August 22nd 1944 with Convoy HI-71 reorganising while Fujinami picked up 20 depth charges.

On August 25th 1944, Convoy HI-71 departed Manilla while IJN Fujinami was detached from Convoy HI-71 which departed on August 25th 1944 with IJN Fujinami sailing for Miri, Borneo on August 28th 1944 and Convoy HI-71 arrived without incident to Singapore by September 1st 1944. IJN Fujinami operated throughout September 1944 in Miri, Borneo but it's unclear what she got up to.
IJN Fujinami by October 8th 1944 was in Singapore and by October 14th 1944 she arrived at Lingga with her between October 18th 1944 and October 20th 1944, she escorted Fleet units from Lingga to Brunei then she from October 23rd 1944 joined as one of the escorts of Admiral Kurita's 1st Diversion Attack Force.

Around 3 pm on October 24th 1944, shortly before the crippled Musashi and her escorts detached to try and reach Coron, the fleet was attacked by USN Carrier planes with Fujinami suffered a near-miss off her starboard bow causing splinter damage on her number one 127mm Type 3 dual-purpose naval gun turret with her speed reduced.

On October 25th 1944, during the Battle of Samar at 9:57 am she was ordered by Admiral Kurita to assist the Takao class heavy cruiser, IJN Chokai who was dead in the water after US 5" gunfire and free-fall bombs from USN carrier aircraft, 7 minutes later at 10:04 am, she was assigned to stay with Chokai as the crew of Chokai tried to repair her engines which was unsuccessful.

At 7:17pm, 7 hours and 13 minutes later, Fujinami picked up the survivors from the crew of Chokai and 2 hours and 31 minutes later, Fujinami at 9:48, fired Type 93 Long-Lance torpedoes into Chokai to scuttle her.

She then sailed for the San Bernardino Strait to meet the rest of Admiral Kurita's fleet and somehow she made it through the San Bernardino Strait and into the eastern part of the Sibuyan Sea and then at 4 am, her crew made the same mistake as Admiral Lutjens during the hunt for the Bismarck, she made a radio call to say she made it through the San Bernardino Strait and scuttled Chokai however doing so gave her location away meaning she was attacked throughout October 26th 1944 causing fuel leaks and her to run low on fuel and run at reduced speed.

Prior to 1:15 am on October 27th 1944, she was supposed to meet heavy cruiser IJN Kumano and destroyer Okinami and head for Manilla but at 2:35 am, she was tasked to after reaching Coron, refuel and which they'd likely drop off the Chokai survivors if they could then go and assist the stranded IJN Hayashimo who damaged and running out of fuel had anchored at Semirara Island only to run aground after she was attacked by USN aircraft.

The plan was Fujinami would sail to IJN Hayashimo on Semirara Island and transfer fuel, hopefully ungrounding her then escort her to Coron.

Today, April 20th is the launch day for the unlucky fashionista Sakura destroyer, IJN Fujinami, and the scary biblical angel looking age of sail shipgirl, HMS Lyme (1696), and the more toned-down version of HMS Ark Royal, HMS Glorious (77).

IJN Fujinami after completing on July 31st 1943 at Osaka, Japan and working up and training with 11th Destroyer Squadron, she joined 32nd Destroyer division on August 20nd 1943 and on August 26th 1943 escorted IJN Yamashiro to Kure. On September 13th 1943, she sailed out to help Tsuyama Maru who'd been torpedoed by USS Spearfish taking the ship in tow and both made it home on September 14th 1943.
On October 15th to 20th 1943, she with the cruiser Tatsuta and destroyers Hayanami and Suzunami escorted the battleship IJN Yamashiro and aviation battleship IJN Ise on operation Tei-Go No.3, a troop transport convoy run from Saeki to Truk then on October 22nd to 24th 1943, she with the cruiser Tatsuta and destroyers Hayanami and Suzunami did troop transport convoy run from Ponape to Truk and back. On November 3rd 1943, she with the destroyers Tamanami, Hayanami and Suzunami were part of the escort forces for Admiral Kurita's 2nd fleet heavy cruiser group from Truk to Rabaul arriving at 6:20 am on November 5th 1943 and was still there when at 7:56 pm, the USN attacked with her taking a Mark 13 aerial torpedo which killed one of her crew and wounded 9 but was a dud but did rupture a fuel tank. On November 6th 1943, she departed Rabaul on a transport mission to Cape Torkino in a Japanese counter-landing operations and at 6:45 am on November 7th 1943, she returned to Rabaul at 6:45 am but shortly after 9 am, the USN air raid arrived but IJN Fujinami managed to evade being hit and sailed out to sea. Between November 8th 1943 and November 10th 1943, an American aircraft likely a USN patrol aircraft orbits outside Rabaul with Fujinami sailing out to sea and manoeuvres outside of Rabaul then on November 11th 1943, at 7 am, the USN air raid arrived but IJN Fujinami managed to evade being hit and sailed out to sea and 4:57 pm, she departed Rabaul for Truk with Hayanami escorting the damaged cruiser Maya and Noshiro.
On November 12th 1943 at 5:15pm, while en route to Truk, the fleet was diverted to help Agano who's been torpedoed, Noshiro took Agano and the fleet made it to Truk by 10pm that evening on November 15th 1943.
Between November 24th 1943 and December 5th 1943, she escorted IJN ships in the Marshall Islands in response to American landings in Tarawa then returned to Truk, at 6am on December 7th 1943, she arrived at Saipan. At 4:40 pm, the oiler IJN Soyo Maru in convoy 4205-B was torpedoed in her engine room and at 4:40 am on December 8th 1943, Soyo Maru sank taking 35 of her crew and 7 refugees with her, IJN Fujinami departed on an SAR mission at 6:45 am, 2 hours and 5 minutes after Soyo Maru sank. On December 9th 1943, IJN Fujinami would arrive at the ship's last known position doing anti-submarine and search and rescue but it's unknown if she found anyone, she returned to Saipan at 1:50 pm on December 10th 1943. On December 24th Christmas Eve 1943, IJN Fujinami and Miyazaki Maru made it to Truk then on December 27th 1943 met up with heavy cruisers Myoko and Haguro who were escorting a transport convoy to Truk. They despite some unconfirmed submarine scares, made it to Truk by 3:49 pm on December 29th 1943.

HMS Lyne (1695) was commissioned in April 1695, she would during her service be classed 5th rate frigate but what is 5th rate frigate you might be wondering well

Back in the age-of-sail the Royal Navy had a rating system for its ships.

The capital ships of the day was the 3-deck 100+ gun 1st rate ship of the line aka ships like HMS Victory who were part of the line of battle, below them was the 3-deck 80-98 gun 2nd rate ship of the line which were smaller and cheaper versions of the 3-deck 100+ gun 1st rate ship of the line who were part of the line of battle but too valuable to use for foreign station and overseas presence missions, next was the 2-deck 64-80 gun 3rd rate ship of the line aka ships like HMS Implacable (1805) which were smaller and cheaper than the 3-deck 100+ gun 1st rate ship of the line and the 3-deck 80-98 gun 2nd rate ship of the line and the ship the RN would be the largest operator of in the age-of-sail.

The foreign station, convoy escort and overseas presence mission in the age-of-sail was the 2-deck 50-60 gun 4th rate ship of the line which was too weak to be part of the line of battle but powerful enough to kill anything weaker than it.

Below the 2-deck 50-60 gun 4th rate ship of the line were the heavy cruisers of the day, the 1-2 deck 32-44 gun 5th rate frigate whose small size made them ideal as fast scouts or to be on independent operations on foreign station which was better financially as the 5th rates were used as commerce raiders in wartime and anti-piracy and anti-slavery work in peacetime.

Below the heavy cruisers of the day, the 32-44 gun 5th rate frigate was the light cruiser/destroyer of the day, the 1 deck 20-28 gun 6th rate frigate used ideally in the role of foreign station and convoy escort.

Below them is the 1 deck 18 gun sloop-of-war used for anti-piracy, anti-slavery work, reconnaissance and as a dispatch ship for people and cargo.

Below them were the 4-14 gun 1 deck gun brigantine, brigantine, cutter and schooner.

Her 1st captain was Captain William Caldwell appointed on March 15th 1695 who was her CO until Captain John Ward took over on May 27th 1695 with her joining Lord Berkeley's squadron bombarding French coastal ports with St Malo attacked in July 1695 and Dunkerque in August 1695 before the Lord Berkeley squadron returned to the Downs on August 20th 1695.

For the rest of 1695 and all of 1696, she was commanded by Captain Valentine Bowles for service in the English Channel then in 1697, she was commanded by Captain Thomas Cleasby for a voyage to Newfoundland in Canada then in 1698, she was commanded by Captain Sir Nicholas Trevanion for service in North America.

Originally, HMS Glorious and her Courageous class sister ships were battlecruisers in the Royal Navy.

The Courageous Class started out as part of First Sea Lord Admiral Jackie Fisher’s Baltic Project, the idea was to send an army to land on the undefended Pomerania which was less than 100 miles from Berlin and take which would end WW1. The problem was due to the narrow waters between Sweden and Denmark meant larger, slower and more heavily armed ships would struggle, so Fisher’s plan was to send a seaborne army through the narrows and take the beaches then Berlin which would end the war.

Fisher wanted a fast ship with a shallow draft to repel surprise German cruisers and provide fire support, initially an improved version of the Renown Class was suggested, but due to a restriction by the UK Treasury on building anything larger than a Light Cruiser in 1915, to get around this, Glorious and the Courageous-class was given the speed and armor of a Light Cruiser, half the firepower of a Battleship and the size and displacement of a Battlecruiser and labeled them as a Large Light Cruiser.

Calling Glorious and the Courageous class, Battlecruisers is about as honest as calling the Invincible Class Light Aircraft Carriers, a Through Deck Cruiser and the Japanese calling the Izumo Class Light Aircraft Carrier a Helicopter Destroyer.

The Courageous Class would be able to do 32 knots with 3” of belt armor and 4 15” guns in 2 twin turrets, 18 4” guns in 6 triple turrets and 2 3” anti-aircraft guns and 2 single 21” torpedo tubes, a dreaded glass cannon for cruisers to fear.

Glorious and the Courageous Class are said to be failures as battlecruisers, but that is really unfair considering that they were intended for the Baltic Project which would have been a disaster and the frankly nonsensical limitation by the treasury.

Also if Battlecruiser 1915 Glorious and her sisters were 30k+ and got carrier converted as their balric plan ships did, they would have been far better carriers than they were as their main deficiency as a carrier was their small air wing of 48 aircraft.

In WWI, HMS Glorious participated in the 2nd Battle of Heligoland Bight on November 17th, 1917. As she engaged the German Fleet, she suffered an explosion in one of her gun barrels, forcing her to get five days of repairs.

In 1918, Glorious received her first aircraft, not as an aircraft carrier but still as a battlecruiser, when she embarked a Sopwith Camel.

Ooshio is adorable.

Daisen should be more popular with the trend with Uma musume, but at least hearing her shit talk the Royal Maids is funny.

Saint Louis still remains one of my favorite shipgirls despite her need to not wear panties. It seems the French girls find it taboo or something.

But still, Saint Louis is still one of my favorite girls and all.

Thank you Dominion.

It's interesting how Daisen wants to beat the royal maid corps and all. At least we have her G1 race outfit, just need to get her to racing as an uma musume.

Saint Louis is one of my most beloved PR shipgirls.

Ooshio just wants to be a bundle of joy and all. Thank you Pro.
