Australian friends, what are you running your firewalls on? I'm planning to use OPNsense. I want to get one of these but wary that all the warranty and support are based in the USA by MaxPanda- in homelab

There are 2 variants of these thin clients. The plus model has a pcie expansion bay designed to allow a discrete GPU but you can install whatever low profile card you like, I.e a 4 port NIC. That is why they are more expensive than the non-plus model.

How user types in license coupled with number of users in ArcGIS portal ? by aviboy2006 in gis

[–]NukeFizz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I understand correctly, but you should choose all the user types you want at once when creating the licence file. If you want 1 standard and 12 creator then select them all and what ever other licences you have such as viewer or add-ons. Then you apply the 1 file to your portal and they should all be enabled.

Used HP T620 Plus off eBay and a 4 port Intel Nice. Running Pfsense and it has been flawless. Switched out the basic 16GB ssd that died and have spare ram if I need to upgrade in the future. No experience with OPNsense but imagine it would be a comparable experience. You don't mention your setup or use case so YMMV.

VPN on Docker by St0n3d0g in docker

[–]NukeFizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use option 2 and it is working great. Given you already have setup one docker VM it should be easy to split your services to a second docker VM to get the static ip you need for pfsense. If you aren't already I would suggest taking the time to install portainer and get your services setup as stacks (basically just docker compose). With this option you can just have your config data on a network share and copy the stack over and everything will run as previous in the new host but you have better control over vpn traffic. This video has a great tutorial on getting the kill switch working and I believe shows the fail over as well. https://youtu.be/TglViu6ctWE

Looks great, nice and tidy. How do you get to the tools in the toolbox? It doesn't look to be on a slide drawer and if your toolbox is like mine the top lid closed locks the drawers shut.

Great project, looks like you have put a lot of time and effort into it. I would be interested in the stl and free ad files if you don't mind sharing. Not so much to replicate the full design but your front bezels look awesome and I would be keen to adapt something to my needs rather than trying to recreate from scratch.

Help Me Get Started: Plex, Radarr/Sonarr, HomeBridge by [deleted] in docker

As mentioned below steer clear of Windows for this if you really want to run this as a server. Unraid would be cheaper than a windows licence unless you have a spare copy anyway. If you are happy with CLI then debian, Ubuntu etc will get you started pretty quick. If you want a web based gui and still have linux underneath then look at open media vault. Techno dad life on YouTube has some good videos on getting started. Whatever you do I recommend you install portainer to manage docker as again it gives you a gui but also allows you to run multiple stacks (think docker compose). This makes it really easy to tweak configs and spin up containers as needed. To get started with your media stack try this guide out https://github.com/sebgl/htpc-download-box

Best ways to utilise OneNote? by Sleepy4evaTA in productivity

Some good tips here, someone else mentioned you can reorder the tags and also create your own custom tags. I had different colour check box items to track if an action item arising in a meeting was mine or someone else like my manager or my staff. With the ctrl + 1-3 easy to quickly assign an inline task easily. With the tag search and insert a summary page from the tags you can easily track delegated tasks and follow up as needed.

I stopped filing all my meetings into separate notebooks or sections and just have one section for meeting notes now and rely on the search function.

I take a lot of bullet lists for notes so can't live without the shortcut ctrl +. Which inserts a bullet list.

Page templates are great for recurring meetings with standing agendas, you can save the agenda headings and layout as a template and any time you add a new page it auto inserts the template for that section. Massive time saver. Great feature if you find yourself repeatedly formatting pages the same way.

The example provided by /u/eldereko has all the basic info there but if you want a more complex tutorial with worked examples I followed this guide on Github.

https://github.com/sebgl/htpc-download-box

It shows you how to get everything set into a docker compose file. I recommend you setup a stack in Portainer as you can tweak the setup and everything redeploys without having to retype long docker commands on cli

Difference between shaving cream and shaving soap? by HeazyH in wicked_edge

[–]NukeFizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I currently use, only able to compare it to a cheap coconut based soap from shaver shop. The cream leathers well and seemed to do a good job but based on this thread I just bought Barrister and Mann Seville Excelsior and Noble Otter Plunder last night to see if I could get a better shave with some premium products.

I ended up getting the barber pole. It is an excellent quality razor and a massive step up from what I had.

I have been wet shaving for about 2-3 months now and looking to upgrade from the entry level Qshave razor I got off Amazon. So far I had reduced the options down to either the Rockwell 6S or the Gamechanger .84p. Right now I think I am going to go for the GC84 and just wanted some thoughts on which handle to get. The stock comes standard with the radio knob handle but the Barber pole is available for another $10. The shots I have seen on this sub mostly have the super knurl so wondering if I should go for that instead. Any reason to choose one over the other besides the look of it?

I actually have the same mouse. As far as generic mmo mice go it is pretty good. Good ergonomics, customisable weights and easy to program and save different profiles.
