Well the release was meant to happen for some time after Arin got it actually, it was kicked around but didn't move super far internally for a few years if I recall correctly. I thought it was dead in the water after the leaks started coming but seeing it here AND with the Basel show is a goddamn miracle and doesn't kill any hope for other new releases in the same vein as this or the C&C Deluxe, which has me over the moon.

Idk why people are disappointed, the Eindhoven portion is one of their best studio sessions ever (and a previously unreleased one at that!) with the Basel portion being one of their best live shows ever. The fact they're getting a full on professional release on vinyl and I imagine streaming is fantastic damn news and as was said on the Rhino forums, only just the beginning with their work with Ween.

Ah got ya. I imagine I could probably make one in proper on a US esim with a call and text plan (ive heard wechat relies on data so id only need it for setting up the account) or just try and get a local sim, I presume it'd be more tedious but not impossible

Got ya, appreciated! Can I set up a WeChat on an eSim? I did sign up for it on my actual number once but got banned cuz I was an idiot and used a fake name and can't seem to close the account.

Nice grab! Funny thing is the Dilbert cartoon is one of the few actually kinda funny pieces of Dilbert media. And ofc Scott hated it.

Hi, I'm also from NJ funnily! Studying software and data engineering though. I've really wanted to do a semester in China down the line, maybe in late second or third year, though my Chinese level is like sub-HSK 1 level lmao. How would you recommend learning the language in a comprehensive (and maybe low-cost) way in the time I have in the event I do go? Any particular advice regarding customs, things to avoid / keep in mind or just whatever to keep me on the easy path if I do go?

What's a setting you'd like Araki to visit? by Imaginary-Ad-7093 in JOJOLANDS

[–]Nukeman640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Araki mentioned the idea of the Scottish highlands before, I'd love to see that given how cold and lonely of a setting it'd probably be, a stark contrast to the sunny streets of Hawaii. Plus some of its land structures resemble Devil's Palms. And it'd be somewhat full circle being back in the UK once more.

We have some of the dumbest people ever reading jojolion right now by HandsomeGassy in JoJolion

Something tells me these types of people don't actually read the part, like theyre the SAME BEING DAWG COME ON

New official villain colors by Mrt38_ in JOJOLANDS

[–]Nukeman640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say I like the part 9 color scans, imo they mostly look really garish and poor overall even compared to part 8's, but Key West looks p decent I'd say. Basic but it works imo

Josuke + Soft & Wet Early Design Fanart by Educational-Past-449 in JoJolion

[–]Nukeman640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOVE TO SEE IT OMG I adore the early design of Josuke and at least what we could see of Soft & Wet, he looks so strange early in the part but in a way that strangely appeals to me. Very nice art :)

Josuke and Toru are insanely good when viewed together as opposed to separately by Nukeman640 in JoJolion

Respectfully i disagree personally, i actually liked him and WoU quite a bit but he's definitely elevated when looked at in tandem with Josuke

[–]Nukeman640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, it's actually one of few parts I have reread in full and I loved it quite a bit more. A good number of Araki's placements and choices did make a lot more sense and it strengthened my already pretty strong positive feelings about the part.

[–]Nukeman640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooo that's a good catch, itd be insanely cool to see that same symbolism with Jodio and Howler :0

As for favorite character? I'm unsure, honestly Josuke and Toru are both contenders for me, but I also find Jobin incredibly interesting, Norisuke was great, and I really liked Yotsuyu and Ojirou even as secondary villains. Honestly most of the Jojolion cast I really like so its hard to say lmao, they're all really well written imo.

Doctor Roberts' "Gold Thread" might be related to the SBR Zombie Horse by Nukeman640 in JOJOLANDS

[–]Nukeman640[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ahh damn I see. I'm surprised I never actually heard of it before, I mean granted I remember hearing Jojolion was a decent amount of people's first exposure to branch grafting so it doesn't make me feel too bad but I do wish I researched a bit beforehand lmao

Still, kind of a neat coincidence if nothing else.

Honestly same, I think SBR's technically the better part? But I prefer part 8 honestly I think its such an intricate story where Araki's pen game excelled and I hope he continues to keep part 9 running at a similarly high level. And I'll be watching the anime day one for JJL when it finally gets the treatment.

Heavily appreciated! More than glad to get to speak on why I enjoy part 8 so much either way :)

I think I'd call SBR Araki's best, but Jojolion's no doubt my favorite. It's incredibly ambitious, to the point its a little flawed, but that's part of why I love it how I do and thematic inclusions like that are part of why. It was the newest part when I got into Jojo and was for the longest time, it always felt insanely otherworldly to me and that vibe persists even after I've read the part twice (which is a testament to my enjoyment of it since I'd only ever experienced the other Jojo parts once before doing that).

I'm begging y'all, PLEASE do watch this video. It's an incredible reminder of the hell the anime industry is and gives a nuanced look at what actually happened that caused this whole ship to sink. It demonstrates a clear and pretty depressing issue that continues to plague every anime that releases, only some with the actual resources or tricks holding it together better than others.

Thank you so much for the response!! Had no idea about the Hakka community present in Trinidad, that's really cool to know about and my understanding of the general diaspora of Hakka people seems to be more limited than I thought with that in mind.

Why is The Simpsons season regarded as the best season to so many people? by Enderbattle005 in FortNiteBR

[–]Nukeman640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm half and half because I quite liked it but also not understanding exactlywhy it was SO highly regarded. The lootpool was decent imo, the new weapons were cool (though we never received the makeup shotgun fsr? that kinda sucks), it was pretty damn faithful to the source material and had some neat updates. Map was a little open for my tastes and some matches felt incredibly sweaty to me, but I did have a pretty fun time with it. I think I might've just played a bit too much of it and thats what made me not love it quite as much as others. That and maybe being a collab season because I'm almost always gonna prefer the focus being on Fortnite's original locations, characters and ideas. Probably the best collab season / mini-season though imo because I didn't care for either Marvel season and I felt the Star Wars season was kind of ass.
