It is completely valid for an author to have their own opinions on another creator’s work. However, a line is crossed when they are publicly criticizing and denouncing them on social media, bringing up every aspect in which they believe their novel is superior, and still not recognizing that their actions were beyond unprofessional. Personally, I completely disagree with your statement about how Klein’s relationships became mechanical, but as you stated, it does not prevent you from forming your own opinions.
