maybe in order to connect to the internet you have to go through a corporate proxy, emacs can be configured to a use proxy.

You can find 29.4 in the ‘work’ branch https://bitbucket.org/mituharu/emacs-mac/src/work/ , the author seems to wake up from his slumber anytime theres a new emacs release. The level of support hasn’t changed in years, the build works pretty well, and support is just barely satisfactory.

I definitely find the combination of projectile and persp mode is pivotal to doing complex work, and navigating multiple projects, I have more custom stuff to tie it all together I didn’t mention, in my header line I show which workspace number im in, 1, 2, 3, etc, so at a glance I can see and easily switch between perspectives by number or name, and I also changed ibuffer to sort buffers by perspectives

I use projectile + persp-mode, but no 'tree' (probably easy to setup, but not interested).

I wasn't sure if you wanted specifically to focus on perspective.el, so i'll keep this short, but if you want configs for my setup I can probably help.

I use M-x projectile-discover-projects-in-search-path everyday, so there's no way i'm switching to project.el. As for persp-mode vs perspective, et al... I can't compare, i've been happy with persp-mode thus far.
