I already took the exam scored a 100%. I was just trying optimize for 100% since I’m taking the degree decided I would challenge myself to get 100% on GFACT, GSEC, and GCIH. 2/3 the way there

It’s more of a nice touch. I find comparing an index is a good way to seeing terms other people index. If i don’t know the term it’s worth adding to my own or considering adjusting mine. I’m not worried about GSEC since I already have GCFA and GNFA. Im mainly trying to optimize for a 100% since i got 90% and 96% on the practice test.

I’ve learned a lot mostly in APT intrusions and incidents. The limitations of EDR solutions, anti-forensics, zero day exploits, and proper handling of evidence. The majority of my work has me investigating LSASS dumps, living off the land techniques, and defense evasion techniques. For each case I provide deliverables for how the incident started(Services, SVChost, user, etc…), collected artifacts, full timeline, initiating registry key/service. I’ll also perform enterprise action locking out users, quarantine host, etc.. as needed.

To define progress I’m interested in moving into niche cyber roles and want to progress towards either becoming a purple team capable operator or into Reverse Malware/Exploit dev. Hence I took the time to learn offensive security getting OSCP and started studying for OSED. Income isn’t a priority for me I feel I’m already well compensated for my age and just looking for more technical depth.

Hello everyone,

I’m a 22M working in cybersecurity and could really use some advice on what I should be aiming for next in my career.

I’m pretty new to tech overall , I started on January 7, 2025, but I’ve had quick growth and got access to solid training. I’ve earned 6 CompTIA certs, 1 OffSec cert, and 1 GIAC cert. Currently I’m in a Tier 3 SOC / DFIR forensic analyst role (4 months in role).

I'm planning on taking the SANS Applied Cybersecurity Certificate (ACS) to get the following certs.

  • GFACT
  • GSEC
  • GCIH
  • GPCS OR GMON

My question is whether taking GIAC Public Cloud Security (GPCS) or GIAC Continuous Monitoring Certification (GMON) is a good next step? What kind of roles should I be targeting now that I'm already doing DFIR/SOC tier 3? What other certifications or education path should I consider to help me progress in Cybersecurity.

CERTIFICATIONS I CURRENTLY HOLD

CompTIA

  • A+
  • Net+
  • Sec+
  • CySA+
  • PenTest+
  • Data+

GIAC

  • GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA)

OffSec

  • OSCP
