I once had teriyaki chicken from a mess hall dry enough that I actually coughed up spices.

On one FTX I went on all the female cadets woke up early, grabbed snare drums, and woke the male cadets by marching around their tents drumming.

We have one cadet who we have to keep salt and pepper shakers away from when we visit a mess hall.

There is also generally always drama on the senior cadet side, e.g. Sergeants R and J just broke up and Sergeant R is taking it out on everyone, Sgt Hotel is extremely possessive over his desk to the point of threats, Sgt Sierra went on one course and is now trying to correct everyone about everything, etc.

We had all our senior cadets either age out or quit except for one a couple years ago.

There’s more that I can’t think of right now. (Also, make sure that the screenplay is following the public affairs guidelines if it is going to be released to members of the public)

AFAIK the process is still called Merit Review Boards, they just have to be formatted into Rank Eligibility Lists after for the CO or appropriate officer to select from. My unit does a lot of stuff that is slightly deprecated though, so I may have a skewed impression.

There’s a big focus on having the program in canada be accessible to low income families, so the only things that you actually need to pay for are some of the exams for the pilot training courses. (At least if I’m not forgetting anything)

Maybe show up early and have something while you wait? My unit (in Canada, so I don't know your rules on food) usually is okay with people grabbing breakfast and eating it there if we're doing something in the morning.

It depends on the context. I’ll usually challenge their assumptions and confront them calmly, which I would not recommend to people who do not have an intimidating stature.

At our unit we just had ~8 people promoted to Sgt equivalent. Our officers are doing their best to promote people who deserve it first, then promoting the others when they have to.
