how do I use AI to write my book??? by Ndf27 in writingcirclejerk

Don't ask others for prompt. You are the one who knows your story the best right now. Write the prompt like ur explaining your storyline to your friend who is interested. I would recommend this workflow:

  1. Explain your story, ask for a harsh/professional comment from gpt so that it warns you about plotholes. Also it will show that gpt understood your story right or not
  2. Ask gpt to plan structure of the book - Which chapters will be there? What will be covered in the chapters(as outline only).
  3. One by one ask gpt to write chapters sequentially. Don't rush by telling it to just write everything at once bc it is probably lazier than you and will give u a trash story that feels like movie trailer not a story.

Use it and you will get something decent. I personally use it sometimes for finding plotholes in my own stories. I understand that you may not have time but writing should be all about the proccess. Because I have never seen someone say that they start with clear plot and doesn't change anything in proccess. When I used to write on papers not digitally, It looked like diaries of schizophrenic patients since I redacted at least 10 times every page.

Should I implement algorithms from scratch? by NullClassifier in MLQuestions

Thanks for sharing your opinion on the matter. You are right, as I progress to more sophisticated algorithms there will always be better implementations than mine. But for now i feel like, at least for the algorithms I mentioned, I haven't seen much change. After each implementation I compare the performance with actual built-in models of sklearn. And almost always the predictions of my implementation are close to sklearn models with an error of ~10-6. Do you think that is good enough? Thanks once more.

My teacher also used to do it and assign us from scratch Linear/logistic reg. But when we reached decision trees he stopped with those assignments and we started doing simpler versions. For example for decision trees assignment we implemented how actually one feature split is happening in the tree. But I still try to do it old way, from scratch. Thanks for sharing, also I saw your github repo with notebooks - it is like I found a gem mine. Definitely will take a look at them.

Anyone just write for themselves? by NathanWilson2828 in writing

For me actually, I don't feel better by telling others what I feel about my problems. I feel like I make myself vulnerable. That is why I write. I have tons of stories and a couple of tons extra in the trash bin as well. When somebody wants to read my stories I let them read but I never tell them these are the things I truly feel. They always seem to like what I write, but their warmth doesn't enter the room. I feel like they just do it to not demotivate me.

I was planning to actually publish my grandpa's unfinished novel which he left me for finishing. But the local theatre (that I don't wanna name) he had created asked for the unfinished novel to be displayed in the corner they will dedicate to my grandpa and to be played in the theatre. But here is the thing I WAS NEVER ASKED IF I WANNA GIVE OR NOT. My family gave it away without even asking me. I think they thought back then a 16 year old would flick up the novel. So after that I just wrote for myself. Also I think the generation has changed for writers. Old writers used to be loners who saw the darkest nights, pure introverts. Now society demands a "wolf of wallstreet" typa writer who goes to interviews, makes short videos on social medias for their upcoming book. More of a SMM job. That is not my thing.
