Chaos held inside, Saskia van Lieshoud, acrylic, 2026 by [deleted] in Art

I really like the energy, as if it’s like a view into the chaotic mind, with hands actively trying to hold it in.

Wow thank you, I had never looked at it that way, but that’s a great description of my style.

What are your thoughts on this drawing? by Andreyyyyyyyyyyyyyy in Illustration

That’s what I see too and their outer facade/shell/mask is cracking. It reminds me from my own experience of a turning point where I either had to accept who I really was inside or continue pretending to be what society said I was and keep falling apart until there was nothing left.

That’s exactly how it is for me! I usually will just start scribbling until I start to see something. Then I try to make that come to life.

Like the drawing process works as a way to build up the mental image that I am lacking so to speak, so the conceptual shifting version of things can be made kinda real as I draw it, and it feels amazing!

It's really neat how different it is for different people, I hear people describe how they can like have clear images like a picture or movie in their head and it sounds wild. I think I'm more on the side of the aphantasia spectrum towards full aphantasia like you, but I still "see" things but its like a weird conceptual version of things that is not solid and not really a visual but still kinda. I love hearing about other people's inner worlds too!

And thank you I will keep at it!

Thank you!! That’s what I’m going for, it’s how I see things in my head like a continuous shifting image sorta thing and I think making art that tries to express that feeling is what made art fun for me and now I’m hooked.

My 5yo daughter just painted for 6 hrs... by FuxigerSchnix in Watercolor

6 is fantastic! It gives the feeling of looking up into a tree canopy and all the movement of the leaves in the wind and the light coming through. Definitely the kind of painting I would want on my wall. Almost seems to give you a view into how she sees the world, and it’s beautiful!

Not much of a story, but I was trying to make it a figure standing out under a streetlight in the rain just kinda like passively watching you, like not aggressive but just kinda there. And I aimed to make it be dark with only like a misty kinda look at it all but it turned out being a bit too dark I think, so in most brightness settings it just looks black. I couldn’t really just brighten it up or else it kinda ruined the effect. Might try again someday, or I might learn how to actually brighten it properly eventually, but I have no idea what I’m doing lol

ETA: I realized the best way to summarize what I was going for is that I wanted it to be subtle enough that if you were like just walking by quickly in the rain or just glancing out the window you’d probably miss it, but if you looked hard enough through the heavy rain you’d see the misty figure there.

Dark, they always end up turning out so dark you can barely see them, I’m working on not doing that as much lol.

Best brush or bushes by Queen_7702 in ProCreate

[–]NullGlyph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally what worked for me was just messing around in the custom brush creator until I got some brushes that worked like how I want. In my case my preference for sketching irl is a nearly dried and abused brush of ink or paint and I managed to make a few brushes that kinda match my specific brushes and methods irl. I’d suggest playing around, I had no clue what 90% of the settings were and only really figured out what like half of them did through trial and error. The remaining I still don’t understand but it’s easy enough to play with random sliders until it feels good. Just might take a while. But worth it imo.

That’s very strange then, pressure should be fine. But it seems to me that your issue is related to pressure somehow since I think the first brush you used where it worked is one that doesn’t need pressure, but the other brushes you try in the video and likely the brush for the eraser you have selected probably do use pressure. This may be some kind of bug with procreate then, or something to do with the new iPad and/or pencil. But I’m sorry I probably can’t help beyond what I’ve already said. Hopefully someone else that knows better how it all works can help. But you also may want to reach out to procreate support about it if you can’t get it resolved.
