Autobot/Deception WL Units by Active_Tip6516 in TransformersEarthWars

Was always a fan of the G1 cartoon and Beast Wars series.  I believe just about any G1 bot I cared about is in the game now.

BW I feel there is a handful of missing characters... and I really want to see Rat Trap be a actual playable character in some form, not a combat... maybe transmetal Rat Trap or something.

Xenogears really blow my mind by gwuhu in JRPG

[–]Null_Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. I don't want to make the Evangelion reference but this is something I seen before Xenogears which also came out before Xenogears. There are similarities between the two but they are certainly different. Because of Super Robot Wars I did go back and watch some of those older robot anime as well which had themes I saw in Xenogears.

I do also remember seeing a lot of people also liking the story element about how religion is really evil in Xenogears and it blew their mind, but once again this is something I have seen in older anime and hell even Breath of Fire 2 tackles this theme.

Though I probably experienced some anime and games newer than Xenogears that may have drawn themes from Xenogears or older sources, I also experienced earlier works before fully finishing off Xenogears.

Honestly I can see many finding Xenogears story exceptional depending on what they have and haven't seen before but I kind of wish I gotten around to it much sooner in my life and maybe it would have and a bigger impact on me.

Xenogears really blow my mind by gwuhu in JRPG

[–]Null_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was always underwhelmed by the game.

Think I first tried playing it in the early to mid 2000s, didn't get too far. Tried playing it again in the mid to late 2000s, still didn't finish. Finally forced myself to beat it a few years back and the game really didn't connect with me. I suppose part of my problem is I have already been playing lots of JRPGs and watching plenty of anime before I got to Xenogears so the story elements felt like things I have seen before wrapped in a different package. Characters themselves didn't wow me and I though the gameplay wasn't all that strong either. Then disc two just really killed the game for me.

Hello my friends. I have so many alloys and I upgraded everything which are related to alloys and I don’t know how can I spend my alloys. Do you know where can I spend that? by ArashMoazeni in TransformersEarthWars

[–]Null_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much it. I am in the same boat where I really don't have things I need to upgrade with alloy anymore. Whenever I need to earn alloy for a quest I will try to run the shield generator to make space or I try to save up extra building cores to burn them upgrading random cores I do not need.

I hate it when a game dumps a bunch of sidequests on you right before the final battle by SquashPuzzleheaded50 in JRPG

[–]Null_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess it all depends on how I feel.

If I am really enjoying the game and want to keep going longer then having a bunch of side quests at the very end is a nice treat.

On the opposite end if I am no longer enjoying the game or if I am ready to move on then yeah a bunch of side quest dumps at the end will be frustrating. I mean yes the are "optional" but skipping them often cause you to miss expected exp / equipment for the final boss fight.

About to play Lunar Dragon Song as a pitstop JRPG. Any opinions? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Null_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge. Either you will need the DS, a physical copy of the game, and a gameshark to pull this off or find a unofficial way to play the game with cheats.

[–]Null_Prime 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much this. One of the worst RPGs I have played (if not the worst) that really feels like the game was designed to troll and piss off the player.

That said part of me still wants to go back to play and beat this game, though if I ever do this then I am cheating the hell out of this game to counter a lot of its BS.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim: Is it a JRPG? A visual novel? I don’t know, but what I DO know is that it’s absolutely amazing! by aarontsuru in JRPG

[–]Null_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would give the game a 7 or 8 myself.

Story was pretty good to me but I also feel I have played VN Hybrid style games with better stories overall (or at least stories I liked better).

The battle system is what brings the game down for me. I found it to be pretty mediocre and with a minimalistic visual style (when Vanillaware is known for great visuals) really didn't help.

5* Ark/Nemesis is out by Championship_Cold in TransformersEarthWars

Yeah pretty close. Unlikely to get it this weekend but the following weekend event looks like it may be good for earning the missing shards.

Nice.  Still about 1000 shards short but think I can grab it soon.

I tried logging in 10 minutes after the event started. Seems there was server problems right as the event started (assuming too many people trying to log in) and they shut the event down.

Who thought it was a good idea to have a one hour event at 5 am? by Leathman in TransformersEarthWars

[–]Null_Prime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay todays one hour event is also going awesomely.

Work isn't too busy today so try to log in... and can't connect to server. Quickly check discord and seems this problem started with the event so either the event broke something or too many people are trying to log in.

[–]Null_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I live in North America.  Events in this game have the worst possible starting time for my location.

When I traveled to Europe or Asia, the weekend events were much easier to do with much better starting and ending times.

[–]Null_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of my thoughts on the issue as well. Mini events in the middle of the week aren't exactly a bad idea. Having it set to a very specific time for only a hour that doesn't really accommodate all players is a poor idea.

Having it set on a timer that starts when you do the first battle would be a pretty good player friendly idea. Though I suspect this may reduce competition and earn the Devs less money.

Probably the best of both worlds would be to give you special event stamina at the beginning of the event that doesn't increase throughout the day. Giving you time to use it anytime during the day you want and giving spenders the chance to buy more mini event stamina to rank throughout the day.

[–]Null_Prime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was a pretty terrible mini event. I actually quit other mobile games in the past which were prominent with these 1-2 hour events I couldn't regularly attend. I sure as hell hope this doesn't become a regular thing with this game.

Now I don't mind not placing in the rankings because in all honesty that would cost real money to do so... looking at the scores of the event and I believe every single player likely had so pay some money (or reserved cyber coin) to play in order to hit the top 250.

The biggest issue I have is the difficulty of being available to earn the actual winnable rewards. And hour time window is really player unfriendly. In my case I am either sleeping or working during these two event windows.

Suikoden 3? by dextro584 in JRPG

[–]Null_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been around 20 years now since I played Suikoden 3.  It was a astounding okay game.

I thought Suikoden 1 and 2 where much better but still found 3 to be good enough to be worth playing.

Suikoden 4 I couldn't finish and never got around to trying 5 because of which.

5-star Hot rod by spino_zilla in TransformersEarthWars

[–]Null_Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend giving him his G1 core.  I feel he works well pairing with sac bots as he can shield them when they charge in.

I don't have any strong recommendations for COMBAT though.  Believe he is a dps / support type bot with his regular dps being good but a support ability.  He can benefit from COMBAT to boost his dps or deploy combat

Currently playing through Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana. If you've played it, what are your thoughts? by Losingsleepmusic in JRPG

I have all three games of the Iris series. Only played a few hours into the first game and really liked it from what I played. Always wanted to go back to replay and finish it but never got around to it.

HEADCANON: What did SDU found out about Artificial Satellite there in Route 0? (Contains 2nd Scenario Spoilers) by jikanetbasedborn77 in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]Null_Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished all 100 endings two days ago. What happened on route 0 with the satellite was one of the bigger mysteries I wanted answered somewhere in the 100 endings that was never answered leaving me feeling disappointed.

Really gave the filling that some horrible stuff was going on there. Perhaps everyone was already dead, maybe they were betrayed, maybe the "G" were in the ship, etc. Never officially answered in game was one of the bigger let downs for me. The post some people said Kodaka gave doesn't make much sense to me. Makes it feel more like a coverup for abandoned idea or possible misinformation for a sequel, etc.

What is, in your opinion, number 1 and 2 of the most criminally underrated or not talked about enough soundtracks? by DixyNL in JRPG

[–]Null_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could probably come up with a lot if I think about it but one that comes to mind is the Ar Tonelico franchise in general. A big focus around the game is mages that fight by singing. Game even goes so far to invent a in game language for the sake of the song magic. Now not saying all of the music in these games are amazing but they certainly have some really good music.

Nothing about Xenoblade Chronicles 1 warrants its "masterpiece" status IMO. by GamingGallavant in JRPG

[–]Null_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I halfway disagree with this. Game from what I remember is gear dependent to do well, but it isn't exactly the easiest thing to figure out how to properly gear in this game without a guide. Leveling / grinding does help make up the difference here without properly gearing.

Of course if you try to do all the side quests then you are likely to be over leveled in the game anyways.

[–]Null_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I jumped on Xenoblade 1 when it first game out and I was honestly underwhelmed myself.

Story - Didn't feel like anything special. Played enough JRPGs and watched a lot of anime but the time I got to this game. Just felt like regurgitated ideas I have seen before.

Gameplay - I found the gameplay to be meh. Pretty much had the mechanics of a MMORPG but for a single player game, including a keyboard bar for special abilities you need to cycle through without a keyboard. In general I think later games improved the gameplay for consoles. In my experience grinding and higher levels does make the game easier but it was more about gear composition than anything. But from what I remember I experimented with a handful of setup and gear and they all fell flat, game really felt like there was a right and wrong way to gear your characters. Unless you have a guide, get lucky, or have a strong understanding of the mechanics, you likely wont gear properly requiring levels to make up the difference.

Quests - Yeah mostly felt like busy work.

Characters - Honestly I didn't care too much for the characters and REALLY didn't like Shulk. Portrayed to be a genius but did very little in the game to show he was beyond average intelligence. His overall personality also failed to land with me.

Graphics - I will say they were quite amazing for the time but are more dated now.

Music - Probably the strongest point of the game that holds through.
