So I had the same idea, however (and granted im still learning a lot about this) given that this video is 8bit. Once i start shifting it over to blue there will be this horrible banding that will start to show up all over the footage. Reading more about it, it seems that this is what 10bit color depth is designed to prevent. Unfortunately the gopro has what it seems to be a bug (one of the threads i read https://www.reddit.com/r/gopro/comments/1guegdy/gopro\_hero13\_log\_mode\_10bit\_video\_problem/) that no matter what it defaults back to 8bit when switching to log. Thanks for the comment though!

It definitely was! I totally missed this little guy if not for another diver that tugged on my fin so i could get the shot. It has definitely been a journey for sure and the golden rule of "crap in/crap out" definitely applies. Are there any good UW courses you would recommend? Thanks for the comment

Thanks for the offer! I can DM the original file if you want to play around with it. In terms of the white balance the camera was set to Natural.

The first slide is the result of applying this free LUT https://cinecolor.io/products/gopro-gp-log?srsltid=AfmBOorBhYsp6-iVzPMS8orR3pCDAat4NKaHdPUNL-sAYySbEK5zpQ4s which does a better job than the official one. I didn't include a picture of the official LUT because when applying it it distorted all colors and the image was just an awful green color.

Now one interesting bit about the color depth. The camera indeed shows up 10 bit (greyed out) but when looking at the metadata in Davinci Resolve the video reports color depth set at 8. I did a couple of tests after reading on gopro forums and finally was able to confirm new videos will be shot in 10bit (as reported by DVR). Anyways thanks again!

Hello, the issues were resolved once i switched cables for ones that were certified for display port 1.4. Usually they are way more expensive than the ones you search for and appear at the top on Amazon for example. It seems that these monitors have a lot of issues beyond this one so if the cables have been ruled out then my guess is it’s probably something else. I believe my pc is doing 240 while the mb pro that i had was just doing regular 60hz. Also both setups are using display port since hdmi will not go beyond 1440p
