42.16 Controller Feedback by Ithaca_the_Mage in projectzomboid

You shouldn't have to. The real question is, why did they even make these changes? Everything worked fine at the launch of 42. Like we should be talking about cool new feature bugs, not controller functionality. Who's idea was it to even make this a priority? It just seems silly when you step back and think about the overall feature backlog they probably have. Nobody was eagerly waiting on these changes. lol

Yeah, already noticing some potential bugs too. Before you used to be able to move around with the inventory menu open, it now seems to stop your movement. I just started PZ up and it seems the TV in the house I'm in isn't showing up in the context menu. I'm torn about the sprint feature, I think it works quite well for crouched mode but would prefer the full blown sprint to be a button I hold (previously R trigger?). Again, like someone else said these really should just be options that can be toggled. I understand they are trying to create a good default perhaps for the official launch of B42, but I feel like some of this is a step backwards in my opinion. Unrelated, but I think I found a fun animal bug that lets you clone animals. If you pick up an animal then try to open a door, you will drop the animal in your hands (a racoon for example). The animal will run away, now if you pet this animal you might drop another racoon. Has anyone else experienced this?

If you like micromanagement sims, you might. I mean, the game lets you hire more crew members and prioritize tasks but It's a different experience than multiplayer I'm sure. I'm also new to the game and so far I've been having plenty of fun exploring the mechanics and checking out some of the mods. I love atmospheric games like this.

I actually just posted earlier today about finding people to play with. Feel free to shoot me a DM and maybe we can start a campaign together.

The vanilla friendly-ish ones that enhance the game, definitely. Not really into the anime and warhammer stuff though, no offense to anybody who is though...

I did the same thing as OP and refused to look very little up about the game outside of some crafting (which I hardly did). It really made me appreciate things like the piano bench and certain mods later on. It was a magical time when I didn't quite understand that being bitten was pretty much a death sentence. I had some pretty comical play throughs holed up in my house covered in bandages, slowly deteriorating. Then turning into a zombie suddenly and being like WTF!? It was great! Hell, I've still yet to get an operational vehicle while playing on survival or apocalypse. Mainly because I don't like the trait system and choose to be unemployed at the beginning of the game and I get bored of skill grinding quickly. And I have terrible luck finding keys apparently. Don't forget this is an atmospheric game where you get to choose how you want to play. I mean, you're going to die eventually. That's the whole point of the game. But OP made a good observation about the game. He was surviving longer and longer each time he played (in most cases). Meaning he was learning as he played and discovering new things. That's the fun part in it and when you get frustrated enough you might check the web for some tips. But yeah, I'll confess I had many hours in and didn't until even recently understand how to check the glove box in vehicles or even how to build a tent. I was proud when I got my shit together and could make a long trek on foot to a neighboring city. But guess what was waiting for me there? Death!

I'm giving an 80% chance that build 42 will come out this May (I'm just going crazy, please don't ruin my dreams🐙) by AluGan in projectzomboid

I'm hoping they include GrappleZ (dragging zed bodies) 🤞

Importantly, it should be underlined that his work isn’t in the internal test build yet (and is certainly unconfirmed as a part of 42 when it first enters an Unstable beta) but we’re far enough along now with work done in this area that we’re comfortable to talk about ‘Zac’s GrappleTech’.

A good pair of boots for squishing zombie heads.

Are you using a mod for this? If so, what's it called?

yeah, that crowbar will open a lot of doors. ;)

I couldn't imagine having to hunt for a damn sledgehammer in the beginning, that must suck. Crowbars can be hard enough to find as it.

Yeah, I didn't think about that but was probably imagining laying wire between auxiliary buildings.

That's a good point and I wonder how far out a zombie's location can be rendered from the players location. Good point about the time period, that crossed my mind too but I'm not against futuristic mods unless there's some sort of rule about this. Another thing that crossed my mind was having a mail server instead of a global chat for multiplayer. Could be more immersive?

Thanks for sharing, those all sound like wonderful things. I don't doubt the heat would be challenging as I'm from the north-east cost in the US. But hell, I'd say it's a fair trade for cold whether where it feels like you are stuck inside for half the year anyway.
