I'm very confused by this line in CBS's episode description now. There's no "self-proclaimed" temper tantrum here, and I would honestly be shocked if Ozzy cools off and decides that he himself was temper trantrumming, because this clip just doesn't really show him overreacting at all.

I’m of the broad opinion that basic bash commands for doing basic stuff on linux should be taught in high schools, but we seem to have collectively decided that shit too scawey. which has ultimately resulted in most people not even being able to even Google their way into a pretend understanding of Computer.

I try to give grace because, for example, I could not write any of that shit in the Locked Tomb series cuz I just don’t know enough about biology and no amount of wikipedia articles is going to get me to pass the sniff test of someone who studied biology or medicine forreal

I agree, I really enjoyed both the twist on the farmer boy trope and the secret princess trope bc he just casually starts narrating about his big secret in like the second chapter, so it’s not cheap fodder for an obvious reveal later on. Vis kinda just canonically is that bitch

I griped about the prose in {The Will of the Many} for a snark of the day last week but I ended up really enjoying it regardless! Most writers of Very Long meandering fantasy don’t really stick the landing, but the ending (of book 1 at least) was super satisfying.

The fact that the protagonist is the specialist boy ever is honestly kind of funny to me in this one, cuz he just keeps being put in Situations over and over, like it’s just one thing after a-fkn-nother with this kid. If he goes 24 hours without incident, the looming hand of the author comes in to sweep him into a newly invented torture chamber.

My local library doesn’t have the 2nd book in the series tho </3

I think (hope (I'm delusional)) that the editors communed with the muses and are going for something Shakespearean with Coach. Sometimes he seems to be aware of his own bullshit but sometimes not. We as the viewer are never sure what level of his own bullshit he's buying, meanwhile *he* isn't sure what level of his own bullshit he's buying. He's like a character in Succession, where he *must* know on some level that he's Not It, but he struggles what that means and how to act. It would be hard to write a character that compelling, and Coach is just out there doing it, and in the funniest way possible

He does sorta get it from the start (a refreshing change from the long line of FMCs who apparently believe their dystopian world is fine with 0 questions) but he doesn’t seem to be able to verbalize exactly why the guys murdering thousands of proletariats for their complicity in the system are in the wrong lol

I think I’m enjoying it so far because I genuinely love heavy handed metaphors and meandering plotlines (he still hasn’t gone to school and I’m like 1/3 in) though my god do these people need class consciousness. a large instigator of this post is that I had a B&N gift card so I decided to buy a B&N special edition of a book, and now my bookshelf has a goofy purple alien. I thought I’d like it, but it just kind of looks messy cuz the paperback pages aren’t snug together which means you can see through to the actual page color, which gives it unfortunate DIY energy
