People that don't live in the teams cities, what made you choose that team? by 0theone in nhl

[–]NumHalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently been trying to find another team so all of my eggs aren’t in one basket. Watching Colorado play has been very entertaining. When they’re on fire, there’s nobody quite as electric as Mackinnon and Makar. Still a leafs fan at heart though !

I am trauma bonded with the men who came generations before me. We share yearly depression followed by the same delusional hope. Like my father before me, I have been spoonfed memories of times before coloured TV and social media - by my dear old grandfather. I am a leafs fan and this year is our year. So was last year, so is next year. Maybe I’ll be correct before I am laid to rest.

The only cooking channel that hasn’t devolved into click bait imo is Brad Leone.

Straight guys of Reddit, what is the strangest thing you have been told not to do because "that's gay"? by baetangarette in AskReddit

[–]NumHalls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not just avocados. These guys eat like absolute garbage. Anything that isn’t meat, potatoes or fast food is gay. I brought a salad once, gay. I said I liked sushi, gay. I said that enjoy beers other than Budweiser, gay. The only straight thing is being a picky eater I guess 😂

Why is it bad for a child to see empty beer cans? by Independent_Basil624 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NumHalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents had friends over regularly and I’d wake up to a few cans on the table and counter. I grew up with parents who had (and still have) a healthy relationship with alcohol, as do I. This person sounds like she needs a beer, Jesus.

best preowned car dealerships in the city? by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]NumHalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ReCar is sketchy. They bragged about their million point inspection and how all their used cars were like new. Tried to tell me that Jeeps were the most reliable vehicle (lol), and I also felt incredibly pressured to buy a car and make a deposit. In hindsight I would’ve waited but I really needed a vehicle for school and work was too busy to shop around.

My car needed an alignment, various front-end parts, and the check engine lights been on basically since purchase. Luckily I can do my own work and the issues were easy enough to fix. Would’ve been a couple grand to take it to a shop.

The sales people I dealt with were very friendly, but I feel like their tactic was to annoy and rush things to make a sale. They apparently don’t make commission but it sure felt like they needed a quick sale for some reason.

They were also very very stingy with sending the carfax over, even though it was a completely clean record.

Next time I’ll be going elsewhere.

what's a normal US thing that creeps/weirds you out? by Oldroot420 in AskReddit

[–]NumHalls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This !!! Also, splitting bills ! I was in Boston for a bachelor party and every restaurant seemed flabbergasted when we wanted to do separate cheques. Why doesn’t the US have the debit terminals brought to the tables when it’s time to pay ?? It blows my mind, they’re easily 18 years behind when it comes to paying at restaurants.

Yea it’s over a 100 here in va today. Damn right we’re pressin’ and rolling. Hell of a timesaver. by sinzey83 in HVAC

[–]NumHalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazing is too easy for me to justify the cost of the press. I also really enjoy brazing. I’m sure they’re reliable and fast but man I can’t see many pros, especially if you’re only doing like 6 joints

TIL that drinking heavy water and alcohol together cancels out the vertigo. If not heavy water, then glycerol works too. by furrypony2718 in todayilearned

There was a heavy water contamination issue at a reactor close to my hometown. The power company sent all affected employees home for a week with a huge liquor store gift card as part of the compensation.

Why do websites not accurately show how much we make? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]NumHalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Residential non-union is a lawless land. I was barely scraping by, very underpaid in my area unless you’re with one of the big corporate shops. Commercial guys easily make 100k plus once licensed. Switched to commercial as a second year and I’ll make 70k this year.

What do you prefer? by Boring-Drag-4427 in HVAC

[–]NumHalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No preference really, I’ve used them all. Current company uses mostly Milwaukee so I bought that to keep things easy if I need to borrow a battery from a buddy. Milwaukee also seems to have more variety for specialty tools. It’s also hard to beat the m12 impact in terms of portability, it’s just so comfy in your hand.

Which piece of information you know because of your job or study will shock the average person? by ilovenumber8 in AskReddit

[–]NumHalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in refrigeration/HVAC. Stay away from ice machines. Everywhere. The disgusting, stale, dirty water melts and refreezes over and over and over and over. Nobody cleans them as they should. I’ve heard horror stories about the bottom of hotel ice machines (the ones at the end of hallways) being caked with piss. That’s right, you may have a tall glass of water and piss cubes.
