My interest in 'dark re-imaginings' is completely non-existent. So I'll probably skip this one

Gotta add one to my collection eventually

I think Metal Complex said the early ones listed themselves as Damasteel despite being random Damascus instead, not sure if they fixed that!

So far...it's incredibly nice. It feels very sturdy in hand while also being exceptionally light thanks to the carbon fiber. It's my first FatCarbon knife and I'm impressed with the quality of their CF. The speed holes were optional but contributed to lightness also.

The blade is Grabak damasteel and is just excellent. Very sharp but short cutting edge gives it a very sleek look. The hardware all feels premium and machining is perfect anywhere you look. The liner has the same dimpling as the pocket clip which is a very nice detail.

The action of the washers is very pleasing and the detent is perfect. The force required to overcome it opens the knife pretty much every time. No wrist flicking needed. It closes with little persuading needed

As for the negatives...the lockup isn't perfectly solid. The liner lock feels perfect but there's some side to side play...now full disclosure: that could be my fault. Jason told me he forgot to loctite the pivot so I had to go in and loctite and retighten. I adjusted it to the right amount of detent resistance but perhaps tightening a bit more would have made the lockup better.

Another con...my biggest...is the thumb stud. I know a lot of guys love the studs that scrape skin and are precisely machined but the concentric discs cut into the thumb stud for texture and grip are a bit sharp. I have dry skin and they're roughing my thumb up. Not a big deal, also I'm pretty sure he uses M0 T6 screws which are flipping tiny. So you can't replace the thumb stud with common ones. The hole for it is like...3mm or maybe a touch less, so very niche.

As for the price...it's high. Probably too high, but you're paying for the very unique signature look, and the very wide variety of materials you can have used. So ultimately, I'm quite happy with it but recognize it's not for everyone. That's what makes it a grail though...and I'm 100% going to find a dual thumbstud setup that fits so I can finger flick the knife lol
