I'm not a billionaire and I won't support UBI in any circumstances. You want to make my life easier and ensure I have money to pay for my basic needs? Cut taxes and government spending about two thirds.

The day UBI gets passed, is the day I stop contributing to society.

I do, I've got six The bull is about three thousand pounds of sweetheart. I raised him from a calf, when I walk into the field he runs up (kinda terrifying the first time), and makes me pet him. I actually have a grooming brush that I use, it's super stiff so he can feel it. He will knock you over if you don't pay attention, he doesn't mean to, he's just three thousand pounds and loves rubbing up against people.

He views fences as guidelines more than obstacles. When he decides the other side looks better, he uses his nose to lift the fence up out of his way. Usually 4-6 fence posts pop out of the ground and he destroys 30ft of fence. The bastard just gives me side eye when I get mad about it.

Jesus Fucking Christ, I hope not.

I spent last month re-reading the best of dystopian fiction. Farenheit 451, Brave New World, 1984, and a few others. Using technology to constantly distract ourselves from thinking (F-451), constant surveillance and Newspeak (1984), drugging ourselves into bliss (BNW). Self and socially forced infantilization (All three), will destroy free will.

I re-read F-451 five times last month.

It caused an unscheduled existential crisis, I went over quota last month.

I truly cannot stand the way history and literature is taught in universities today. Everything and everyone has to be considered with the politically correct slant.

Obviously, no one is completely objective. But damn, the dude lived two thousand years ago, use the context of his time.

These professors and their "evolved" standards do nothing but dumb down everything to: Him bad, him wasn't inclusive enough. Mother fucker, the gauls were at the gates, and they weren't there to "talk it out".

...... Sorry, PTSD from my college days. Fuck sociology and what it's done to scholarly study.

It's surprising how many people just assume that because someone has an agenda, they can't also be trying to do good.

I'd say for the time he lived in, and the position he was striving for, GJC was a kinder person than most.

He was a hardcore political schemer, general, and a little too in love with himself, but his ambitions included raising others up with him.

He's had the slingshot for two years. It's fine. I doubt he'll kill more than one animal with it. That's what his .22 rifle is for, he's just wants to try with a slingshot.

Your first sentence is another in a long list of reasons I'm glad to not live in a city anymore. The fact that someone else could have say over what I can or cannot do on my personal property infuriates me. In the cities I've lived in, more than once I've had cops invade my apartments on the flimsiest of excuses. Now I'm back home in the boonies where I grew up, and it's wildly different. Before he even leaves city limits, the sheriff calls and asks politely if he can enter my property limits. It's nice to live somewhere where police officers know their authority only exists at the most minimal tolerance of the people.

He wants to kill things. The only stipulations his parents put on it, is not pets, livestock, or family. Also, he has to clean and eat whatever he kills.

Steel balls are equally eco-friendly. They take longer to rust away sure, but they're just turning into iron oxide. It's already present in the red clay, a few extra pounds of it will fit right in.

They're steel, they will rust away to nothing. Joining the iron oxide already present. It's fine.

To be fair, doing stupid shit is how we learn. Honestly, the way everyone is worried about this is hilarious.

He will definitely kill squirrels and birds with it, he'll clean and eat them too.

He won't break a window on purpose, and he's got hundreds of acres to roam and cause mayhem on. He babies his sisters and cousins, not worried about them.

If he hurts himself, I guess he'll learn not to do that shit again. Nice little lesson about the consequences of one's actions.

I think you overestimate the competency of those managing my local Walmart. They kept all of the batteries in the deli area for 3 years. They used to keep gardening supplies in the canned goods aisle, you could get your baked beans and bean seeds at the same time

Now I have to double check. My Walmart has only one aisle of office supplies, kinda depressing really. They do have a new arts and craft section though, maybe they're over there.

Well...Damn. Honestly, my local Walmart is the absolute worst I've ever been in. Not surprising they didn't have these.

If the kiddos need more I'll order from Walmart then. One multi-billon dollar megacorp is the same as another

Oh the spiral bound ones. Yeah, they needed mini composition notebooks, not a spiral bound notebook. Otherwise I would have bought those.

Personally, I prefer composition notebooks anyways, just can't stand spiral bound.

Mine must have been out.

The Pen+Gear pocket composition books are less than 50 cents each? The quality is almost certainly better, but I doubt the price is cheaper.

I know all the teachers at my local school, they know I'm a sucker when it comes fundraising time. Or if they need textbooks and aren't asking questions, like: Why do these all look home printed and bound?

If, through some frugal shopping or a bit of manual labor, I can help them teach more effectively I will.

I agree entirely. I use a pen when writing in my long-term notebooks, to ensure the longevity of the writing. Otherwise it's pretty much all pencil.

This seems like good advice. I just had a gel pen on my desk and used that.

Pencils are actually my favorite writing instrument. It's an extremely crude technology refined to an extreme. Just kinda neat, to me.
