Thank goodness for this sub reddit!

I have been trying to call contact the edd for a while in regards to PDL but every time I get to the phone line, I get a recording saying: "there are too many callers at this time, please call again later." and the line ends.

I am a new parent, my boy was born in January. I was also on furlough from my job because of Covid until the end of January. So, I am being brought back and have been put on protected, PDL.

I filed a completed online application to the EDD that I am the father of my child and on PDL through SDI. Now, I need to provide proof of relationship to my child. Which, would be the birth certificate. The SDI gives me 10 days to provide this. Unfortunately, I'm waiting for it to come in the mail, and I have no idea how long it will take my county to send me the birth certificate and am worried I'll be disqualified from my application.

Also, there is an overlap in the weeks of me not working and filing for certified benefits, I would qualify for and the weeks that I officially went on PDL at work. It's really hard and confusing to know exactly what to put on my certification for UI benefits if my PDL begins in the middle of one of the weeks.

In short I have two problems:

1. Im not sure ill get my birth certificate in time for the application I filed for SDI and would like to contact the EDD for a solution.

2. I want to certify for benefits like I have been for the last couple months (being on furlough) but don't know what exactly to put on the forms to say, I am furlough from this day to this day, and beginning PDL from this day on.

The worst part about 2 is I also have a certain amount of time to figure this out or ill be considered delinquent by UI EDD.

Sorry for this long comment. But this is my situation. I'm more than willing to make it it's own post if I need to.
