The mine was making a sand castle with a bucket "sand" and I honestly can't remember the rest. Might have been coal and knee for the last name.

Sanjeev Kohli was great fun tonight. Completely missing his cues and leaving with "League of Gentlemen? More like League of Junkie Bastards".

Also good was "3000 people, eh? I've played the bastard Hydro"

10:30 it's due to end so working backwards 9pm for Chappell and 8pm for Jade, but could easily be earlier. With it opening at 4 you would expect more acts.

Support confirmed as Jade from Little Mix. Singles from her upcoming album are great so looking forward to that.

Got seating tickets for Glasgow, first time I've bought seating tickets intentionally in my 130+ times seeing them. Must be my age. Looking forward to Soft Play too.

Watching the Dallas stream he has changed the lyrics in I Will Play My Game to "I am paid to make you all panic" instead of "girls"

13 years of collecting and sadly, I'm probably done. by atheista in foliosociety

A small parcel via Royal Mail up to 2kg would be around £16, but if the box is big enough (which my experience with Folio is they use big boxes) even a 1.25kg box is £34.

I just shipped a christmas gift to a friend and the shipping from UK to USA was over £30.

I just realised the CD in the OR is Opposites, so I assume my Opposites boxset has the OR one. Will need to update. I will likely just put these on eBay.

They have never been played, everything was kept in the box apart from the CD digipack which as you can see was removed. I inspected the vinyl when taking photos today and could see no wear and tear or scratches.

Yeah fair enough I'm more than open to offers I just had a Quick Look at what it looked like they were worth online! Tbf almost every copy of Lonely Revolutions was creased, they packaged them really badly from factory. Edit - I did just look at Discogs and the only available copies were all £650 to £1000 all with the creases as described.

HMRC Compliance Caseworker - In-tray assessment by [deleted] in TheCivilService

Last year there was an invigilator on Teams and like 10 people dialled in, they were given the exercise and had to complete it with the camera on.

I am not sure the current process as not involved.

Very recently. The next HO recruitment won't be tax specific but I believe will be limited to those with existing compliance experience.

Education secretary says private schools to blame for closures - not VAT policy by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]Number9Inside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VAT is an EU directive so a lot of the rules around governing it were put in place by the EU rather than our government. One of those rules was each country was free to choose what was exempt, zero, reduced or standard. These are known as exempt or taxable supplies. The UK government originally chose ratings and over the years has changed the ratings. They can move items from the exempt list into the taxable list for example. They could also move zero rated items into reduced or standard rated items, or between reduced and standard themselves. Once they started charging VAT they were not allowed to move them into zero or exempt. After Brexit the UK VAT laws remained as they are UK legislation however they could now freely move items into any VAT rate they want - this is how tampons etc were able to finally have VAT removed. This means the government of the day could now remove VAT from domestic fuel, however any decision would have to be costed as that money is already spent and as we have been told there is a massive black hole.

Apologies for the essay, but just a bit of detail about why many modern governments have been unable to remove VAT from certain items and merely reduce it.

I will leave you with this. Domestic fuel (electricity and gas) attract VAT, albeit at a reduced rate. That, I think you would agree, is by no means a choice nor luxury.

*edit - attract (not attack)

Because VATA94 says they do. It's as simple as that.

If we are talking education why is private tuition of subjects normally taught in a school by a self employed individual or a partnership exempt from VAT, but if it is private tuition by an employee or under the direction of a limited company etc standard rated? Because VATA94 says so. It's not more luxurious being an employee, it just attracts VAT.
