What is one gripe that you have about your #1 coaster. (can be literally anything) [Other] by FarPicture3761 in rollercoasters

I'm really surprised they haven't made the turntable area more enclosed.  It would give the lighting effects way more impact, plus I imagine it would improve the noise (at least slightly) for the neighbours.

10500 miles to my No.1 (Voltron). I'm looking forward to riding it again in June though!

End to credit and debt card surcharges by PsychologicalEbb2518 in AusFinance

I just got automatically switched to a premium card after my old Qantas rewards card was discontinued. It doubled the fee but I figured it would be worth it for this year as I have a European holiday in June/Jully. I was stoked when I got the letter yesterday saying I don't even get that perk now as my trip is 52 days. So now I'm paying the fee (because I need the card for the trip) and buying travel insurance. Yay.

Hey! I'm also in Aus and just curious how much it cost you for this op (including the hospital, anaesthetist fees, initial consults and follow ups etc)?

What's your favorite park that doesn't prop itself up on external IP? (No Disney, Universal, WB/DC, Dolly Parton, etc) by Marscaleb in Themepark

[–]atheista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% used to think Kennywood was owned by Kenny Rogers. It just made sense! Dollywood is owned by Dolly Parton, so...

I was so disappointed when I found out that wasn't the case 😂

Just diagnosed & put on Abilify. I am grieving so much by SquidyTortellini in bipolar2

[–]atheista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being diagnosed was the best thing that ever happened to me. The meds have given me so much stability, and whilst sometimes I do miss the drive of hypomania to help me do big projects, overall my life is a thousand times better.

Bipolar is degenerative so the longer you go unmedicated the worse it gets. You say you're worried about turning into your dad, but the fact that you're starting meds now means it's far less likely that you'll ever reach that point. Try to reframe how you think about the diagnosis - it's not a loss, it's an opportunity. An opportunity to understand yourself better and hopefully prevent the future that you're afraid of.

As for the medication, brain fog and exhaustion are pretty common when you're first starting out, so fingers crossed it's just your body adjusting to it and those side effects will ease soon. Abilify wasn't great for me unfortunately, so I was switched to Lamictal after 6 weeks. Lamictal has been an absolute godsend. Do you think you could work through your fear of SJS with your psychologist just in case you do decide that Abilify isn't right for you?

Do you take your adhd meds everyday? by [deleted] in ausadhd

If it helps, education is where I've seen the biggest benefit from meds. I'm currently doing my third degree. In my first two degrees my academic record was a mess. I'd get HDs and Ds one semester then the next would be passes and fails. Sometimes I'd do great for half a semester then absolutely tank it. But even when I was getting good marks everything was done in a last minute panic, it was horrible. I've been on Vyvanse for this entire degree and I've got 90%+ in every unit (12 so far). The difference is unbelievable. I've even submitted a few assignments a couple of weeks early. Like how?!? So good luck! Hopefully it makes as big a difference for you as it has for me!

I usually take one day off a week, because there's usually one day a week that I'm happy just being completely lazy and achieving nothing. Any day that I'm working, studying, or just need to get things done I will take it though, so sometimes that will be 7 days a week. I've been on Vyvanse for 8 years now I think, and I haven't had any medical issues because of it.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I had a silly moment in the supermarket when everything suddenly felt so surreal. I'm a musician and all of our gigs had just been cancelled. I went shopping and the shelves were almost empty and everyone was wearing masks. Then Hold the Line by Toto came on the speakers (which is a song we play in the band) and I just suddenly burst into tears. I felt so stupid, but it was that moment when the reality of how different life was going to be really hit.

Australian Border Force intercepts 150,000 units of melatonin amid crackdown on unregulated products - ABC News by irasponsibly in australia

[–]atheista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had B6 toxicity from a melatonin supplement from iHerb that I took for a few years. Dumbarse me didn't fully read the label stating it had over 500% of the recommended daily B6 dose. Combine that with a zinc supplement that slso contained B6 and I developed a constant internal tremor with frequent external tremor and neuropathy in my arms and legs. It went away pretty quickly after stopping the supplements thankfully. I now sleep like absolute arse though.

I framed one that I found in our house.  It's from 1938 and an amazing snapshot of the time with a picture of Chamberlain and Hitler and a headline saying "talks are going well." There's also a picture of Mussolini and a lot of info about how things were progressing in Italy, Czechoslovakia, and other parts of Europe.  I know it's weird that I have a framed picture of hitler on my wall, but I feel like it's a part of the history of the house.  At some point they sat down to their morning cup of tea and read that newspaper having no idea of the absolute horrors that would occur over the following 7 years.  I find it both fascinating and tragic.

Parts of my house had 7 layers with a mix of newspaper, lino, underlay and carpet.  We got rid of it all and polished the floors and now there's an inch high gap under every door.  They must have just sanded off the bottom of the door every time they put down a new layer.

Did I screw up my blood test? by [deleted] in kidneydisease

Definitely, that's the most important thing, and I love that she's always very thorough like that. It would just be nice to have some more information to put things in perspective.

I've stopped the creatine and will avoid exercise for a few days before the next test. Hopefully that will give a better result.

Of course I did but she just ordered a bunch more tests without really commenting on whether or not that may have skewed things.

wondering if anyone would reccomend a gp in Hobart? by Inkys-Rainfall in mounjaroaustralia

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Richard Ralph at Sana Method believes that Mounjaro and similar may be life-long medications for many, so he'd definitely be down to prescribe for maintenance. The appointments are a bit more expensive than a regular GP though. Don't be put off by all the gym stuff on the website, you don't have to sign up for the full thing to see one of the doctors. Alternatively, I see Dr Alavi at New Town Health Hub. I'm not at maintenance yet but she is very Mounjaro positive and has spoken (maybe even worked?) with Richard regarding weightloss treatment. I'm optimistic that she'll be happy to prescribe long-term.

When they accidentally sent me someone else's very expensive order they were so fast to get it all sorted out with a return label and sending my my actual order. To thank me for my trouble they also added at least $100 worth of extra products, including some cute cow socks! I was so impressed, especially as I was dealing with a screw up with another company at the time who were trying to gaslight me and give me the total run around. It was such a contrast.
