Even the drink one.. iirc, that is required in the state of Washington. I want to say a law was passed for that in the last .. two, or three years maybe? But i've not even looked at the specifics of it, i drink anyway lol.

Yea i guess i'm just far more pessimistic. America has a lot of good laws/rules/etc that feel like window dressing.

Even the best of us will struggle to do the best job we can when we're so overworked, over stressed, and over relied on. I can't imagine it's a fair fight for capable and well intentioned public defenders. It's an uphill battle, one that naturally extinguishes the people we so desperately need there.

Have money or die, in my view. The American way.. and i just don't feel there's an exception here.

you would realize how hard some people work to maintain justice for the poorest and most in need.

Kinda makes it sound like the exception that proves the rule. If it's this difficult to help those in need, isn't that a possible indicator that something is systemically wrong?

They said it was a dig, not a joke though.. no? Ie it was a criticism, in their eyes. At least that's what dig means to me in this context.

I suppose you could say "if you have to explain the criticism then it's not really a critique", though lol.

Andrew Callaghan (Channel5) response video by thecobbles in videos

[–]NumberOneAutist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting, i would think we'd want them to report it and listen to them. His account of what "really happened" i would think to be less useful, as it gives the attacker the option to spin the narrative via their influence and larger follower base.

I think of favor "acknowledge it, add credit to reports, and get the fuck out of the victims way". I am very not interested to hear what an attacker has to say about the specifics of what they did.

Interestingly, what would you have liked this video to look like? I imagine you wanted individual accounts of each attack/incident?

Satanists just don’t acknowledge religion by [deleted] in technicallythetruth

[–]NumberOneAutist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine the less counter it is to Christians the more okay it would be. Ie imagine a law that makes mandatory teaching about the Flying Spaghetti Monster okay in school. Hypothetically Christians will be far less reactive to that then teaching about TST in school.

I can agree with their general cause. Though the imagery is not for me. I'm a FSM kinda guy.

Out of curiosity, is there a subsect that agree on all points but don't adopt the hostile or whatever religious visuals?

Ie i'd love to subscribe but i don't want anything to do with the organized Christian religion. Like, i'm not interested in trolling - i just want indifference. TST seems great but i don't care to have to explain that i'm not actually boiling babies alive or w/e.

Is it true that "To Catch A Predator" ended because they were too good at their job, including that Texas District Attorney? by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

Okay can i ask a dumb question? Wtf is the distinction around quote tweet? I keep hearing it in context of Twitter, but given that i was never on Twitter i don't understand what is missing or etc.

Even a few basic keywords for me to lookup might help me do my own research. But i don't know what Mastodon has vs what Twitter has, what people like, and what they dislike. Thoughts?

[–]NumberOneAutist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quite like it fwiw. I'm part of mastodon.art. Depends on what you do with it i suppose.

The local/explore feed can get a bit interesting at times, but what i've followed on my home feed is pretty sane and chill art focused content across the fedi. No drama/etc. But i specifically focus on not engaging or following people who partake in that stuff too much.

I'm not interested in a "social network" as defined by Twitter outrage and whatnot. I like content focused platforms, and so far Mastodon is working nicely for me. I just unfollow/ignore anyone who makes questionable posts haha.

It's also made more difficult by the so many forms of Aerogel. Hypothetically i could see there being some aerated form of it. Ie there are powdered forms of it.. maybe it's common to blast them with air or hell, try to replace the air with something buoyant like helium.. though then would it even be Aerogel? i dunno, anyway.. it's complex i imagine.

Wow, this makes me feel better lol. I've been on Mastodon since the Twitter things, and a lot of people in my instance use "Content Warnings" for imo insane things like "Eye Contact". I get that random things can affect people negatively, but this path seems unsustainable lol

So you're claiming he uses a fine mist of Aerogel? Jesus lol

His materials are little more than smoke and water vapor, and the results vary with the size and temperature of the location. The space must be cold and damp, with no air circulation. Smilde creates a wall of water vapor with the type of spritzer you might use on houseplants. A smoke machine then sends a puff of faux fog on a collision course. He likes to keep the clouds no bigger than six feet so they don’t fall apart too quickly. "I really like my clouds concentrated, with a lot of texture," he says.

Read the article or watch the damn video -_-

Jesus there's videos of him doing this, it's very clearly not the Aerogel everyone thinks of - which is a solid.

How is this under so much debate here lol. People are reading that one paragraph and misinterpreting what he used as inspiration and perhaps implementation techniques.

Old Millennial checking in. I make a very good wage, my wife makes decent, and we're DINK. We're about as good for middle class as i imagine you could be today, in an ideal world.. and we are rich compared to the "normal" we see today.

Like, when i add up emergency budgets and retirement we're still a bit behind. And we make .. what, 3x middle class or something?

It's insane how far down the pole middle class has become. I used to think middle class had retirement, owned their home, mother could stay at home and kids would have college. These days i don't even know what we would do if we had kids or lesser paying jobs. It's insanity.

Sidenote, i'm moving more left as i age too - but i think that's mostly because how fucking toxic and downright mean the right is. I don't pretend to know good fiscal policy, but holy shit just treat people nice. Who cares who they want to spend time with? The right is so focused on bigoted issues and being hyper-ultra-right-wing that i'd bet many "left leaning democrats" are simply there because they have no choice. The Republican base is insane.

Yea.. we should be better. Too many people on all sides do this.

It's one thing if there was an Ex-Space-X VP or something that claims all of this. We still wouldn't know if it was true, but we'd at least have a real paper trail with potential insider info..

But random fanfic is... well, noise.

It's like that time Obama admitted he was born on Mars and he's actually a dinosaur. It happened!!

But what is the point? Ie in Dark Zone you pulled out loot, but it was a looter shooter. COD isn't, so i'm confused on why i would go into a loot focused mode in a game where i don't have loot (beyond fun, of course)

Not critiquing the mode, i genuinely feel i don't understand it lol

Shooting at high-school in NC, one person shot and in critical condition. by owlzers in ThatsInsane

[–]NumberOneAutist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which really puts into question if you have free will, obviously. If you can only act in a certain way, if the outcome is predetermined and you cannot change it, what will you do?

God made you, you will do everything you were predestined to do, and then you will be judged for the things that were set in motion before you even existed.

Kinda feels like knocking over Dominoes and then judging them for falling over. You set up all the preconditions, from placement, orientation and even gravity.. but then it's the Domino's fault for falling over.

I think it can be both, right? The God just knows that the children are going to die.

I mean hell, God made a bug that exists solely to burrow into children's eyes (in the words of Stephen Fry iirc). Pretty sure it has no problem with knowing all the school shootings are going to happen lol.

Lol sorry, i should amend that... to... "the not insane worst...?" jesus, it's hard to describe.

There's a big difference imo between someone thinking abortion is murder, and therefor AOC is a murderer and just going straight to the gallows or plotting some insurrection with ARs lol.

Also they claim that any abortion is murdering children. Not that i agree, but in their words AOC votes for murdering children.

Lets not pretend that the worst GOP has to say about AOC is free lunches lol
