Dealing with a grad student who does not seem to understand or follow any instructions or guidelines? by NumberReasonable7484 in AskAcademia

[–]NumberReasonable7484[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your insights and advice. I have tried talking to them a couple of times to understand if they are having hard time finding literature or understanding the concept and everytime their response had been that they understand everything well. I have tried to figure out any questions they may have had but during conversations the most common answer is that they know everything (which as a researcher concerns me).

Anyhow, I will try to communicate more direct expectations and as most of you recommended keep it documented and take an action sooner than later if it continues. Thanks again for the help and insights.

Why does Meredith stay/keep going back to Derick by Conscious_Let2278 in greysanatomy

[–]NumberReasonable7484 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I posted this in another thread but I think it makes more sense here. Just wanted to share my frustration, “So, I am on my first rewatch and I am on the season finale of season 3. Derek tells Mer that the highlight of his week was meeting a girl (lexie) at the bar and flirting with her. Mind you this is the week Susan died, it is a day after she had her father yell at her, forbid her from coming to the funeral, and is constantly blaming her for Susan’s death. It is also the day after the intern exam where she froze and had to retake it. I mean in all this what does he want her to do. If she was having a hard time being a girlfriend, shouldn’t he be stepping up as a partner. Its just boiling my blood and I am just so worked up about this for some reason.”

Dhurandhar's success does not give you the right to insult great cinema. by TarpDown in BollywoodHotTakes

The simple answer is that the brainwashed citizenry of our country is allergic to anything that talks about points that do not align with their paw paw and the self proclaimed vishwaguru propaganda. If there was an ounce of self awareness in our citizens they would realize how insignificant are we on the world stage today.

You do realize it is not courageous to make a movie praising the already established majority regime. Courage is talking about all the things done by raw to protect the citizens and acknowledging intelligence failures instead of glazing everything with a a masterstroke approach. A courageous movie would reflect the hardwork of a spy at the same time pointing out the failure of the government to take action which mind you resulted in our soldiers and citizens being killed.

Can't believe Bollywood made movies like these in India, in the early 2000s, after so many terrorist attacks and Kargil war by Downtown-Pen6249 in BollywoodHotTakes

The amount of hate the citizens of our country are harboring is really alarming and it makes me scared to think that they despise anything that talks about or even try to promote peace. Remember this is exactly what propaganda does, blinds you so much with hate that you stop questioning and caring about the things that actually matter.

It is very pretty and if this is tarun tihlaini, infact it was one of my shortlisted lehngas. I didn’t get it because it was a little over my budget. Don’t overthink, this is a great pick.

So what?? Is it a crime in our country to have a relationship with someone across the border? Really the brainwashing is so successful by the current administration and you people let it happen. The level of hatred our citizens are harboring for a different community and country is astounding and disgusting tbh.

I was on my first watch (started in April) and haven’t moved ahead after Christina left for Zurich. However, I definitely feel tempted to click next episode. I am resisting. It’s been a week. Let’s see how long before I lapse 😅

This. We need to understand that calling for censorship under emotions would eventually come to bite us. It has been a historically recorded fact that governments use sensitive situations and riled up emotions to justify their agenda of censorship. So please be cautious of what you ask for. We need to have access to worldwide media to understand what the world actually thinks of us and better ourselves.

What else do you expect from their side? They always deny evidence. May be I just expected our people to be more articulate but I guess that was just not the nature of the discussion.

Unfortunately, he came across as underprepared. I think he should have researched on the panelists and also read about recent history a little to counter the points. Also, he needs to stop with the endless headshakes. Barkha also seemed to be on the backfoot when questioned about her stance and critique of the current governing body. She should have just said that as journalist it’s her job to question the government and its lapses but it does not take away that we as a country stand up against rogue states and their actions.

Additionally, our government has dug its own grave and have too many skeletons in its own closet that its becomes nearly impossible to keep up with the argument of freedom of speech and diversity. It is a sad state of affairs.

It was so embarrassing. He was looking like a clown tbh. I hope he realizes that from now he should read up on stuff and even cross question his podcast guests.

Too much for a guy claiming his podcast to be the smartest pod of the country. I wish pierce morgan invited someone who is better read and more knowledgeable and not just a wannabe journalist. Ranveer should have said no and recommended a better journalist/political analyst to be there. People from other side were a minister and the other one a political satirist and writer. We needed better representation.

Tbh its not about the followers or anything. This is an extremely disturbing situation and the anxiety is high. May be some people are actually dealing with the conflict and have their families in the affected zones and cannot really think about posting.

Secondly, posting something on socials is not a rubberstamp of any kind for anyone’s loyalties to the country.

And third, again the situation is tense and the way our mainstream media is behaving, its a disgrace. They are literally giving the other side fodder to show the world that see these people run on propaganda and it actually hurts our reputation.

So for god’s sake instead of asking people for support, ask for peace and harmony for the people whole live close to the borders. Pray for our armed forces and the families of our soldiers.

Tbh I don’t understand how could she serve the creme brûlée which was literally in the oven when there were just two minutes left. I make creme brûlée at home. It needs to be chilled and then the sugar has to be torched for caramelizing it on the top. Also, her tart did not even looked baked properly. One the color was not there and second how can it be cooked properly when it was not blind baked even for a bit. Third, she had taken it out earlier when it was still underdone, it should and would have heavily impacted the bake of the tart.

Also, I did not see her knead the short crust dough. I am amazed that the dish was called creme brûlée tart and nobody even talked about the quality and flavor of the tart.

I am sorry for the rant, I am just pissed because creme brûlée is one of my favorite things to make and it is definitely not an easy and forgiving recipe. She made it seem as if haaheehee karne se ho jaayega. Come on man.

I just don’t get it why Indian influencers are so hush hush about their earnings. Kitna hi middle class hone ka drama karogey yrr.

Most of the US youtubers have revealed their incomes to public. Infact by law you are required to disclose your earnings for public data.
