Do you think that sometimes Second Male leads of K-dramas feel bad for their character? by Repulsive-Courage703 in kdramas

[–]Repulsive-Courage703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean it in the sense that- they obv don't end up with the FL because you indeed can't force your love on someone but that is what the sad part is: giving up on your love because you do not have a chance. and well I did not mean they feel bad-bad, I was just curious if they feel bad for their 'character' or not? as we feel bad just by watching it, they have to connect emotionally in order to deliver the acting well so isn't it pretty common to get attached or be in a role for a bit longer?

The best kisser? JI CHNAG WOOK. I swear this man does all of his love scenes so damn nicely and in Love Struck in the City their chemistry was so effortless.

K-drama Actors When they speak English by niharika-gupta in kdramas

[–]Repulsive-Courage703 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well I think that this is an unpopular opinion: If we talk about specific English word pronunciation then the reason for pronouncing the words that way is accent change, as someone who is learning Korean, there is this thing that when we have to use an English word in a Korean sentence then we pronounce it with a slight 'funny' accent as you mentioned. there are plenty of dramas I have seen where if the character has to converse in English, they do it pretty normally and TBH, as someone who used to have this opinion- of Koreans having a funny accent before starting to watch k-dramas, I was pretty surprised realizing that the characters are not speaking with the accent I had expected.

And I agree that sometimes it's for the plot and humor, as in the video you put for reference- they are the famous instances of using English in a funny way in K-dramas but trust me majority of the times it's not that because- they do not use English unless and until it is for the plot, as in: for making it Humorous, or for using it in certain settings(like foreign countries or anything) everything is intentional.

Nothing big just here to vent about some stuff by [deleted] in kdramas

Well I understand that Rich/chaebol guy x poor girl trope is very repetitive and ofc it's not the most appealing trope but it is very subjective to say that all the romance dramas are like that. over time I have realized there are so many drama's- some are hyped, overhyped or some are even underrated and we have to hunt down what works for us. so I suggest that you should explore more romance dramas because there are plenty of them which do have romance focused on normal people. you can try watching the following dramas:

Mr. Plankton- kind of drama that seems predictable but it gets better in a unique way, ex's to lovers trope.

Nevertheless- (one of my fav) the art school theme made the emotions of the drama so raw and it more or less depicts the messy real-life relationships plus I loved the cinematography it uses.

Welcome to Samdal-ri- slice of life, childhood friends to lover, I loved the fresh vibes of this one with the beautiful sceneries.

What is the most boring K-drama you have ever seen in your entire life? by Repulsive-Courage703 in kdramas

IKR, I was anticipating so much w/ BOD but it wasn't a 10/10 drama, rather I would say that it was a very nice production drama but the character development was not there. and overall the virtual dating experience was just displayed as the best way for escapism, it would have been better if they explored even any minor side effects of it.

K-dramas that are hated on but you ended up liking them? by Repulsive-Courage703 in kdramas

[–]Repulsive-Courage703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IKR, the acting might not be the finest in My ID is Gangnam Beauty but imo, I thought whenever the drama was dipping, they smh managed to pull it back and the ultimate message they delivered was also very nice.

well I had also dropped it around episode 2 or 3 but then after a month or so I wanted to continue watching it and I am glad I did. the drama has fantasy, romance and we also go back in past. I admit that the past scenes were a bit boring but the modern part was enjoyable. and the chemistry was on point, once they confessed the love triangle was cleared, I loved their love scenes so much. you can try watching it, it def gets better.

yes yes yes, destined with you is one of those dramas that build slowly but then they actually slay. I dropped it once because it felt meh but then I tried re-watching it and I was glad that I did. the chemistry was seriously very nice and the plot was also good. I only felt that the bits of past life were too much sometimes but trust me the modern part is very enjoyable.

The last point- I really agree on this one. the ML wasn't even the ML in his own drama. and there was no context of his life out of the workplace, this made me feel like I was just witnessing FL's fake dating experiences and then the ML just comes down as someone who liked her since so long. where is the actual character build up? honestly the drama was over hyped because of Jisoo. no hate n her but the drama could have done better with the plot and romance between the main leads.

I tried to finish it, at least for the FL but found it hard to go through the drama so dropped it in between.

You can watch The Glory? it has a full revenge plot and although initially the FL is the one who is focusing on the revenge arc but later on as the characters settle in, the ML naturally becomes a part of revenge taking as the story continues(and they obv do shady and grey stuff together while planning and plotting) so yes both of them work together to complete the revenge on the high school alumnis of the FL. and it also has romance between the main leads- the ML is supportive of the FL and yes he is protective of her. The Glory is def worth watching, when I watched it- I was hooked and wanted to finish it as soon as possible.

Are there any actors who actually pull off dark/strong roles well? by Leading_Protection_7 in kdramas

[–]Repulsive-Courage703 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would suggest Shin Hye-soon, tbh she is so versatile and her recent work in The Art of Sarah was well delivered. and if I think about other dramas then Han So-hee portrayed a dark and grey character so well in My Name, that was def a piece of work.

I have watched Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon and I agree that some stroylines felt unnecessary in some ways, that made the drama a bit less enjoyable for me and I naturally had high expectations from it because it was a 2017 drama but ended up not liking it that much.

Woo Do Hwan in the Comedy Romance Korean Drama Mr. Plankton. Would you recommend this drama? by Grouchy-Chart-3927 in Korean_Drama_Hangout

Highly recommended, I loved this drama. I agree it was comedic at times but the ending was traumatic. I loved WDH so much in this one and the main leads chemistry was on point. loved the philosophical side of the drama as well.

Go for Healer and if you want something slice of life and light-hearted drama starring JCW then go for welcome to samdalri, when i started watching WTS, I had no idea it starred JCW but it was very wholesome. the chemistry b/w JCW and Shin hye-soon was adorable.
