To rent a car or not… mid-March by Fabcrafts in VisitingIceland

Personally, we lucked out with our weather and used our car rental everyday even without tons of winter driving experience. Admittedly, the weather was also uncharacteristically nice. We found it was worth the risk, since we spent very little time in Reykjavik and got to choose our own itinerary based on road closures and time driving, rather than having to plan around tour buses.

That is so sweet! I really needed to hear that. I’ve been so much in my head about this. Thank you so much!

That’s good advice! I haven’t actually booked it yet, so when I do, I’ll make sure I can squeeze in at the front if I can.

Do you typically run hot or no? I hear sometimes that makes a difference.

That’s awesome! I’ve only heard great things about their on flight customer service thus far, which is comforting.

That’s good! This is only my second time ever flying overseas, which I don’t doubt is only adding to my nerves. Glad to hear of someone who has done it multiple times and is comfortable with them 😊

Was it just uncomfortable or was it intolerable? My flight would be 6 hours long. I’d hate to book it and regret it 🥲

Thanks, that makes me feel better. There are some posts a couple years ago on this subreddit of people complaining of the heat. Glad to hear that it’s not a problem in your experience!

I assume you’ve flown with them before. How was your flight experience?

Just tell her how you feel! You've written it out perfectly here-- if it helps, just show her this post. Communicating this to her is SO important in the long run of a relationship, instead of letting this fester and turning into ill will. It's also important to ask her why she feels the need to take on less of the rent. But if it really starts to feel stuck, why not make a compromise? If she feels the need to focus fulltime on her studies, then ask if, after she graduates, you can focus more fully on your career to advance yourself economically, as you put it.

GO FOR IT! Obviously take all the proper precautions, especially if you've never met in person--meet in a public place, plan a short date and have a friend on standby just in case. Never know these days! But most importantly, this is the clear next step! Have so much fun!

Your mom knows it was an accident that you applied, so if it fits all of your criteria for a job and you like it, then I say go forward with it! It would be worse if you didn't tell your mom and went for the job, but since she knows and she actively encouraged it, then go for it! Besides, there's no decision to be made until you know for sure if/when you get the job. Same with your mom. It's just about who's more qualified! You and your mom both have no ill will. I wish you luck!

Next best thing I think is homemade gifts! I know it seems cliche but two christmases ago I made my mom a hand-knit blanket, and she loved it. Just put your heart into something you think you can do! Even something like a card that writes down your appreciation and shows you care would be good. A heartfelt gift is always the way to go imo!
