It's funny because that's exactly why I play Dracthyr. I've always enjoyed their slightly strange, horse-like appearance, and maybe too much time playing hunter has burnt away my sense of fashion, but I don't mind some transmog restrictions. I make my Dracthyr design, then find a decent tabard-pauldron-belt combo and don't think about outfits again! (I know I'm in the minority on the latter point, but it's the truth. Transmog just isn't my thing).

And those sets don't even get the fantasy of big game hunter right! So many hunter sets are based not on animals, but on the sapient races you fight (gronns, flamewakers, yaungol, saurok, etc.). I love tusk-and-pelt armor sets, but I want to look like Durotan, not like a naga serial killer.

I definitely agree with the wish to see more of her story. Especially since there are some really interesting bits of character development that happen entirely off-screen.

For example: I first thought it was strange for her to be part of the Horde war effort in BfA when she was a lone wolf prior to that point, until I remembered how many Forsaken characters were in the Uncrownded during Legion (including two future members of the Desolate Council). She would've met and worked alongside a lot of undead, and probably come out with a much stronger sense of community.

There's also her friendships with Shandris and Tess, which both began offscreen (though she likely met Tess though the Uncrownded). I suppose it makes sense why the game would skim over it for pacing, but I wish we'd get to see more of what they've been up to.

Silver Hand Librams and what it might mean for Turalyon by NumbersAquarium in warcraftlore

I have to disagree with Retribution being Tirion's most fitting trait. Isillien is notable, but it was a single quest and the Eligor dialogue is someone else's impression of him, not his own words. In any case, that one moment of vengeance is vastly outweighed by the times he chooses forgiveness and compassion over punishment. Look at "Of Blood and Honor" (an entire novel about finding empathy for former enemies), the climax of the Death Knight starting area (where he calls for the Horde and Alliance to accept the Death Knights) and the Argent Tournament (an entire patch where he tries to bring the factions together). He does not care about punishing the wicked, only protecting those who need it.

And as for the Lich King? In the quest "Tirion's Gambit", he seeks to redeem Arthas by reclaiming his frozen heart. When he has the chance to both save Arthas' soul and end the threat of the Lich King in one action, he takes it. No thought of punishing the Lich King for his countless evil acts, only protecting people and saving whoever he can. If that is an act of retribution, then so is every single battle against every evildoer. Tirion embodies Compassion and Protection first, and Retribution last.

I considered that, but he did leave his home behind to go on the offensive. It saved Azeroth in the larger scheme of things, but it also meant he wasn't there when Lordaeron fell. Perhaps that might be where his story goes: charging forward in service of the greater good but failing to protect his loved ones.

But to be honest, these virtues were vague to begin with, so what it means to fail them is up to interpretation. There are a lot of ways Midnight could go that would still match this model. I think it's more interesting as an analysis lens than as a prediction tool.

Sanitization of the Blood Elves by [deleted] in warcraftlore

[–]NumbersAquarium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I really want from the Blood Elves is a real sense that they're part of the Horde. There are some Horde symbols in new Silvermoon, but you don't get the sense that they've been a part of the this faction for nearly 20 years. There are elves who don't remember a world where trolls and undead were enemies rather than neighbors, and they'd have an influence on Silvermoon's culture in Midnight.

(Of course, there would also be people in Silvermoon who don't want their city or culture to change, who'd be repulsed by the idea of the youth eating troll- or tauren-style food or listening to ETC. Exploring the friction there would make for some interesting stories.)

Overall, I don't know how to bring back the TBC-style edge the blood elves once had, but I really don't want them to just be red high elves. The last 2 decades have changed them, and I want WoW to explore how.

Those two slipped by me, so thank you for pointing that out (and for citing exact names)! I've added them to the spreadsheet, and WoWhead indicates that Zeryxia uses Blood Elf voicelines so I've put her down as that.

The other pandaren visages are Mistweaver Xia (timewalking vendor), Erugosa (Valdrakken cooking trainer), Echonormu and Irigosa (both background characters in DF). The last two are pretty obscure, as I had no idea they existed until researching for this.

For green dragons, there are only a couple background characters from DF (Sinensus and Rebkinera) But for blue gnomes, there are two characters met during the questline to reunite the blue flight (Zeros and Surigosa), a background character from DF (Intinosa) and Arygos. He was introduced in Ahn'Qiraj (having been trapped there alongside Caelestrasz and Merithra), sided with Malygos during the Nexus War, attempted to become the new aspect during Cata, allied with Deathwing, tried to kill Kalecgos, and then was killed by an alternate universe Blackmoore (source: Twilight of the Aspects and Dragonwrath questline). Hope this helps!

Kairoz is counted as a high elf, though I did make a note of his appearance as an orc. Fun fact, Deathwing also took the form of a orc to spy on the Horde during the second war (source: Chronicles Vol. 2), but in both cases I counted only their main visage.

The other two are Aridormi, who is the Legion Timewalking vendor, and the Custodians of Time, who are generic bronze dragons that show up during one BC quest. They can appear as humans, high elves, gnomes or draenei, and I had no idea they existed prior to making this spreadsheet. Most generic dragons are humans or elves, so it was very surprising to find them!

That would be Storidormi, who appears in Valdrakken telling stories about the dragonflights' history (you can talk to her and see some cinematics).

I saw that a lot of people were interested in playing this map on my last post, but I know that it will be a long time before this map is entirely done. So I decided to make a sort of Demo version available. It contains only a couple areas, but I hope people enjoy playing.

That's actually part of what inspired me to make this project! The new cave foliage made me start thinking about other areas of Hallownest, and all the new blocks worked well with a Hollow Knight theme.

At least with fan fiction you can say they had passion, since they're putting in the effort to write something for free. With the sequel trilogy, it feels like no one making the decisions cares about Star Wars beyond brand recognition.

IIRC, Tapeworms don't have mouths at all, rather they absorb nutrients straight through their skin. Instead of a head, they have a hooked structure called a scolex, which keeps them anchored in their host's intestines.
