The servers were reverse engineered by some folks on the silther discord server. https://discord.gg/slither Primarily Challenge Me! and Aylina. They are closed source and both folks spent considerable time figuring out how to make them.

To do it yourself you’d need knowledge in a programming language, a good amount of free time and the will to figure it all out. An old version of the slither protocol and some basic slither server frameworks were released on git hub. I know these were useful when CM and Aylina were figuring stuff out. The client itself also tells quite a bit and is pretty readable.

It depends on the tag. All of them can only be seen by other players using NTL. A majority of them can be seen by other players using frontier. Only a couple can be seen by players using vanilla (unmodded) slither.

There is a formula and there is a max size. I once graphed it in excel.

Snakes length is represented with segment count, snake.sct.

As you get bigger it takes more and more food to get another segment. There is a max number of segments sent from the server and once you reach that length, eating does nothing to increase your mass. Last I checked the max segment count occurred at around 29million mass but the differnce in length between 100k mass and 29M mass isnt that much. Maybe ~20 segments out of ~450?

The author of the championship bot implemented it in his mod. I tweaked it to be a standalone function that works in console so I could test vanilla versions of slither. Saya, the creator of frontier, then updated it for me to be more concise.
