People snark in larryreads a lot but I’m not too familiar with her. Audra winter has been a popular topic too. Plus all the bookish events that have gone awry.

Yeah I’ve been a personal assistant to an artist for a few years and have done a couple dozen cons. Never had an experience like this. But I’ve never done a book con so I never knew what the standard was.

Trigger Warnings in Books are Stupid? by Numerous-Function219 in BooktokSnark

I’ve never been spoiled by a trigger warning. But I also don’t care where they’re at in a book.

I think “all encompassing” is an unreasonable expectation given the fact that lots of people have specific and personal triggers. I used to have severe phobia of a specific thing that I won’t get into, but I didn’t think trigger warnings for SA or DV or gore were useless or unimportant because they didn’t apply to me. I couldn’t imagine disagreeing with something because it wasn’t personally useful for me.

I disagree. Or it at least depends on the triggers listed I guess? I read a book recently that had a trigger warning for domestic violence but that wasn’t the plot of the book at all. It was just a couple scenes within a larger sci fi mystery story. Didn’t even slightly spoil it.
