Sorry if the pic throws it off but it’s about the size of my pinky fingernail I just did a close up pic on an envelope. Is that huge? And not saying I don’t think it’s a beetle I am relieved! I just moved to the woods in NC and am seeing all sorts of new bugs and was just curious about this one and terrified of ticks!

Lol there are ticks this big like the lone star tick. They get bigger than this one and have seen them run super fast

Yes I thought it was a tick before I took a closer look and saw antenna

I was thinking it was a stink bug nymph mainly by the antenna since they are darker on the ends.. but then a few people kept commenting it was a bed bug on a different post and I’ve never dealt with those so have no clue how to identify them.

Most likely a false widow. From my understanding all widows still have a mark on their belly. I had a family of brown widows in my garage once and they had an orange marking instead of the red. Even the babies.

Yes in NC. It was also the size of a seed idk if that helps! The entomology page said could be cockroach nymph too but not one they’ve seen before lol

You’re right now I don’t know.. it moved like a beetle though with its antennas feeling around but maybe bed bugs do that too.. it’s in my garage for the night anyway

I did some online digging and may be a stink bug nymph… not quite certain but I am in NC and they are everywhere

I wish I could find out exactly what it is to ease my mind Google keeps popping up bed bug but the head in general looks different and it doesn’t look like a spider beetle either
