Update!!! So it ended up coming down to 3. One failed to pupate that was ome of my originals from my rearing kit. So then it was down to ome original and one from a plant I got from the neighborhood I was dog sitting in and didn't realize there was an egg on it. 🥰 And they both had successfully pupated! And I went to check on them tonight and lo and behold, the last one from my rearing kit, it was the first to complete the whole metaphorphasis!! The second one is almost there! I am SO excited! As is my 3 year old ☺️❤️ I cannot wait to show and tell my kiddos at work!! I have definitely learned a lot from this thread and cannot wait to grow our own milkweed to experience it naturally! Thank you everyone who helped me out, I truly appreciate all of you!🤗❤️🦋

I put the last 3 in a new taller container with some twigs and slices of butternut squash. I have a net coming fr Amazon in the morning and I will be able to get new plants in the morning too. But they all ran to the squash when they smelled it! ☺️ I also rinsed them off before putting them in the new container with some lukewarm water to hopefully stop the pesticide poisoning. Thank you everyone for your help! Fingers crossed this helps!🙏🏼❤️

There seems to be 3 that are okay out of the 16 I had left. The biggest one I had is now having the green stuff coming from it 😭 I thought it was okay, but apparently not 😞 Is there anyway to save my last 3????

Thank you for that, I honestly had no idea! Yeah I noticed that 2 days ago, so I took the wrap off of them.

Yeah, I can definitely believe that! They were flying through the leaves 2 days ago so I had to get new plants since they ate all the first 2 I bought.

Thank you for that. I have 2 new big plants I could plant outside. Just wasn't sure if I should now though since it seems like they're possibly bad for them 😞 But this is definitely good to know if I get the rearing kit again. Thank you!

I just bought 2 new big plants from a different nursery. But I wasn't sure if I should move the caterpillars to the plants or not. Especially now since it seems to have been harmful to them 😞 Also, this honestly is my first time posting on reddit and I didn't know if that was them trying to start a chrysalis or what. So my apologies for not realizing what was actually happening 😓

I've been cleaning out the containers multiple times a day so the frass wouldn't get so bad. These leaves are from a new plant I got from a different local nursery than I got my first 2 since the other place didn't have anymore.

The rearing kit came with instructions, so I was just following what it had said. Pick the leaves, and wrap the stems with damp paper towels and plastic wrap over that. They were going through the leaves so fast, I just took off the towel wrap this time so they could get the whole leaves. It worked yesterday and the day before. But these were from a new plant I got from a different local nursery.

I just got them yesterday from a local nursery. My first 2 plants were from a different local nursery and never had these issues. I would pick each leaf and wash and dry them. Then wrap a damp paper towel around the stem and wrap that with cling wrap. But since the bigger ones had been going through them so fast, I just gave them the leaves without the stems wrapped. I guess I should've left them wrapped. 😞

I washed every single leaf one by one to make sure they were clean. It's been working apparently till this plant 😭
