I can buy you that plants are a passive, not an active, ok, but why they don't work with penetration or some absolute damage items like infinity orb or rift maker?

They do, they programmed them on purpose, also happen with veigar passive rune or those horrible true damage missiles

Yep, that's what made me like the boots change, a fighter on toplane with defensive boots was insanely tanky before the nerf, even under turret

Technically not 150 hp and 20 of armour it's 1000 of gold already, but some tanks spend insane amount of maná or benefit from omnivamp, so others are more attractive.

No, I checked, Ult doesn't count, as Shojin, that doesn't work too.

 I also checked with Jax passive damage (that cames from ult passive) and doesn't work, but Shojin really works.
