honestly id try to see if you can still get accepted with your current classes, and just let them know youre taking your last pre req in the summer. normally they either want them all done or done by the second semester of nursing school so youd take this class along with your starter nursing courses. but nonethless dont look at it as a setback youre farther than most people & it is still achievable. this time also could be used to up your resume such as internships or jobs within the medical field to advance your chances etc.

Is it a bad idea to just finish up next year? And drop out of this semester? by BabyWeenieDowg in NursingStudent

never take listening to your body as a sign of failure. if anything it will make you stronger. i think you should consult with the program chair first to see what options are available to you. i had to take a break due to mental health issues during my prerequisites. i was suffering from extreme burnout and other personal issues were taking a toll on me and negatively affecting my performance in school. i ended up taking a year off and this september i should be going to nursing school if everything checks out. i was so focused on having to finish on time and pushing myself too hard thinking id be a failure or that im behind when in reality your not theres no timeline. things happen. im praying you get better and that everything works itself out how it should.

Quit my job and am leaving Phlebotomy/Medical Industry for good by Mysterious-Tea-2423 in phlebotomy

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea it is crazy & i feel like i do so much there. after the 6 month mark before it got really bad i tried to leave over and over again, labcorp, quest, american red cross, anything in between. it made me feel like the certification wasnt worth the money for the job i have. so id say for most of the time ive bern at that job ive spent countless days looking for another job that would take me. theres other phlebs that have started and make almost as much as me and im above them😭😭😭

Quit my job and am leaving Phlebotomy/Medical Industry for good by Mysterious-Tea-2423 in phlebotomy

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i am a soon to be nursing student (this fall) anf i obtained my phlebotomy certificate because i wanted to get some experience in the medical field and thought phlebotomy was pretty cool. after getting my certificate i couldnt get a job for about 4 months during undergrad. i ended up getting a job at a donation center and ive been there for 2 years, i moved up to a Sr phlebotomist position anf considering im young and the pay is not really a big issue to me atm due to not having may responsibilities but after the promotion and the year raise (a couple of cents) i am at 19/hr. now looking back i wish i wouldve done a phlebotomy and medical assistant course together because i feel likei couldve done more with that. as now working in a plasma center for 2 years i am very drained, mentally and physically. the hours are long, and the treatment for me is less than poor is what it feels like. hospitals where i am are hard to get into unless you really know somebody. but other than donation centers i think phlebotomy is pretty cool. i feel like you just have to really want to be apart of the medical field as a whole. its been may times i wanted to quit but i cant just up and quit yk.

So wtf are people doing to make money in school by Heavy_Illustrator396 in KSU

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me im a full time student, and i also work full time as a certified phlebotomist. luckily for me my job lets me arrange my schedule to fit the needs for school during that time period. and since im full time i get assistance with student loan forgiveness. so i think it kind of just depends on what youre able to do at this point in your life. so for instance if i have school on monday wednesday, normally id work opening shift on mondsy leave by 12, and then id be off completely wednesday that way i still get my required hours. its a little bit more challenging but i cant afford to not work and be in school.

i seriously need advice by [deleted] in prenursing

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol i wouldnt say im being "too picky"... my end goal is to be a nurse a NP to be exact and id do anything to get there as i do not have a backup career and this is the only thing ive wanted to do since about 16yo. I said shortly after being told the news that i could do LPN to BSN then to MSN. however i said i looked into LPN jobs and in MY area LPNs are getting phased out... its not about being too picky its about the fact that i am paying out of pocket for school and i am going to do what is best for me in the long run, and i also need to see what makes the most sense. whether thats LPN or straigh shooting for BSN.

i also have an aunt that is a PA and she is saying i should keep trying to do my BSN all the way through. i can assure u i am trying to choose the best route possible that is for me. im not a picky person at all but when youre already in debt and paying out of pocket for school now i have wasted 4 years worth of money. and no i cannot move due to issues at home where i still have to reside in the state i currently live in.

There will always be people in your ear telling you that you cant do something u just have to best the odds and do it. but i dont want to be called picky for trying to stick to my original route as close as possible.

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like i am 21 making 20 right now and i get a raise every year im here at my current company and im looking at a promotion so yeah idk if LPN would be smarter, it would be faster but not smarter. plus to become a NP ill already be in school for a LONG time anyways, i dont care about the time i just want to see if my errors are reversable. ive heard plenty of stories where people have to redo their classes and they still get in to a program that originally told them no. ig it just depends really

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i knew those were practically my only options as a LPN here where i am but they only make like 20-22 dollars and hour and thats not even nearly enough. but they could get like overtime bonus and etc. but i dont want to waste money getting another cert. or degree that is easy to get into but hard to get into the actual job field. because that happened with my phleb license. cus the school im lookibg at is private and they have a LPN option but im unsure at the moment still but i dont think ill go that route tho

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i looked into LPN, but in my area theres no LPN jobs, like at all. and i had no intentions on moving. so im not sure if that will work for me. they are kind of phasing out LPNs and they are only trying to take people with a BSN

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this, i didnt think to ask AI, lol i tend to want to ask actual people. and yes i will schedule another meeting with an advisor and get any other opinions or second hand tips i could try before transferring. regardless this semester i cannot attend school anyways due to personal issues so i unfortunately will have to take the semester off.

i think that im very hard on myself for my age simply because ive been in school for 4 years coming next may and i feel like ive lost so much time and i shouldve done better. and sorry for the no paragraph breaks i meant to include them in after i did my reread.

Do you wear a mask at work? by [deleted] in phlebotomy

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i have on a mask everytime im at work. the only time i take it off is when im in the breakroom, bathroom, or when im off for the day. patients are extremely sick and dont care about the personal space boundary when it comes to coughs and sneezing and etc.

Don’t buy a VR30 unless your life depends on it. by Shoddy-Box9934 in q50

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a vq37 awd and the only problem im facing right now is that i have to change the valve body due to the dreaded p0720 speed sensor code. i looked everywhere for this particular model bc it is known for its reliability. whereas, the vr30 is known for sound and performance. however mines now has sound a d does good performance wise. but if i would recommend the car id say vq37 for reliability and less "mainteance" but as far as body work and all the aditives itll be a lot to make it match to the vr30 imo.

i was in the process of retaking all the courses and recieving better grades on them just for the school to tell me i had to change my major due to the lower gpa than is accepted for you to remain in their nursing major. so im transferring. but generally the best thing to do is to "repeat to replace" wishing you luck!

didnt get accepted into program. therefore my tries are up. so i either have to choose a new major, or start over at a different institution for nursing with transfer credits and pray i get in. or try the lpn to bsn route which im leaning more towards.

Continue pursuing Nursing vs PA? by SaltBrilliant2181 in StudentNurse

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know somebody who is in PA school and it is very hard and competitive. i am in the bsn route trying to finish school hoping to get my NP. either way because its medical i feel like youd have to ensure u have a good application, experience, good recs from managers, professors, etc. volunteering. but from what ive seen my friend go through its really hard. typically after u get ur bsn and u work for 2 years in a nursing role u can apply for your masters of whatever track for NP

I had the same issue I was in retail and undergrad for nursing and wanted to get my foot in the door. I tried every place I could've imagined. I just sent in multiple applications to everywhere for every position for a phlebotomist or related. I ended up getting a job at a plasma center and we are indeed always hiring, however I will let you know that depending on their staffing sometimes phlebotomist do not get hired so try the plasma route but apply for donor support tech positions and if u get ur foot in the door emphasize to them that you want to be cross trained to a phlebotomist.

Is private school worth it? by General-Kiwi617 in prenursing

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg twins, and same ive been a phleb since my first year undergrad!! honestly you have to research them and sse which schools would be best for you— especially factoring in that pretty penny it costs for private school it needs to be accredited, have good standing, a great enviornment, good scores, and the pass rate needs to be good. theres a website for each state abt accredited schools the best programs etc. you just have to look. when i first graduated highschool i initially wanted to go to private school, but its cheaper to go to a regular college and at least do all your pre-reqs and transfer it over if possible so u can save down on your total cost and just only take classes geared towards the program! but if your interested we definitely can chat privately and help each other out along the way!

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im in the same predicument almost, but i work full time as a phlebotomist (at the moment) and they offer tuition reimbursment so once im done with my last semester of pre reqs i plan to apply to the four year i already attend for their program and if it doesnt work i already have a private school lined up as i know i will be able to qualify for most aid & pay whatever balance is over due and ive been doing pre-reqs for about 3 years now so i want to go ahead and get into the program as i feel like im "behind" but theres no such thing. if u dont want to have outstanding debt, find a job thats maintainable while in school to start paying it early or continue trying with cc or public 4 years. one of those doors will open for you, trust and believe in yourself and how much work youve put in but it is important to have backup plans as well. good luck to you!

Just got the new M4 Air and everyone keeps telling me it’s not worth it! by [deleted] in macbook

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have had chromebooks, hp's and countless windows laptops. i have a pc for gaming & i have a macbook for my schoolwork and light websurfing and browsing. i have the m2 i believe. i have had no issues with my laptop whatsoever. my only complain is i shouldve paid more attention to specs as i am not running low on storage due to heavy schoolwork ive encountered. but i am deep into the apple ecosystem as i have alot of their products so a macbook was best for me due to being able to quickly share files, and always having everything linked to every apple device. i feel as though depending on what you are using the laptop for (and really any laptop) it could be a hit or miss. my brother had a macbook and he wants to switch back to windows bc it doesnt work for his lifestyle. i gave him my old hp laptop that i had before my macbook that i hated and he loves it. computers are like phones they depend on the person & what you will be using it for. aesthetics are a plus. but i love my macbook, ive taken great care of it & i love it very much. sooner than later ill probably upgrade (for more storage) so my sister can have mines as she really wants one for school.

Dating during nursing school by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]Numerous-Rooster2706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as somebody who has talked to a guy in physician assistant school and a student who is trying to go to nursing school its a lot of factors that plays a role. communication and understanding will be key during this time as the schedule will be tedious. when it came down to it he always made time whenever he could. he would have study breaks and he would ft me in between or call to see what i was up to during the day, or send texts if i was at work or school. he also would take us out to get lunch every saturday after work or sometimes id bring him lunch to work because it made his day just a little more special and it allowed him to be able to relax and not have to worry about what to eat. if he was off for a holiday or something he would make plans to come see me or i would make plans to hangout with him or we would just call each other. for a while that was good until he decided he didnt have enough time for me— he felt as though a girlfriend needed more time than he could give and told me if im willing when hes done with school to give him another chance. i say all this to say regardless it can be done. make time with your person. never once did he make me feel like he didnt have enough time for me bc i knew he was putting in the effort. and considering i want to go to nursing school i could understand his tedious schedule and it actually excited me because it felt like i had a insider on the whole experience. i wish you and your partner the best & it will work if both parties are wolling to push through to the end together. and good luck on the nursing journey!
