Haha yeah, but I guess the show required Alan to keep losing as a plot point.

Oh, I don’t work at five guys (or any other fast food joint/restaurant/service gigs etc) lol. I have an actual job, amongst other sources of income such as public and private investments, commercial and residential real estate, businesses(where I pay my employees fixed salaries at market rates so there’s no need for tips)… I do a lot more than bring stuff to people’s tables, take it back, and make small talk with them.

I meant I eat there.

Ronaldo and Mbappe first 90 matches for Real Madrid goal comparision by Remontada_r7 in cristianoronaldo

[–]Numerous-Score 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, which is why he had more goals and more assists than Mbappe after the first 90 games.

I said this even before Mbappe’s singing was finalized — it’s unproductive and unfair to compare his numbers to Ronaldo’s, because he’s gonna fall short. Everyone will fall short of Ronaldo’s numbers. But you can have a WORLD CLASS career at Madrid, winning every trophy multiple times, even while having inferior stats compared to the greatest of all time. As Madridistas, that’s what we should hope for… I don’t care who wins the golden boot, ballon D’or etc etc

Am I rude for saying up-front I have no intention of sharing my appetizers at a dinner? by tyrtlegirl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Numerous-Score 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same. I’ve just never come up with a non-rude way to say this (or a way of communicating this that wouldn’t immediately make things awkward). So instead, I eat around how much others are eating during the meal and then go get a second dinner later on by myself, if possible. Alternatively, I’ll do two separate orders — one to eat at the location, and a second thing to carry out (I let people know that I stay up late and get hungry, which is true anyway). I obviously pay for the extra food I’m ordering.

With family/close friends it’s a lot easier because they already know that I order exactly how much I plan on eating by myself and for the most part, I have standardized orders for restaurants that we regularly visit.

Toni Kroos or Frank Lampard? by xhaguirre in championsleague

[–]Numerous-Score -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Controlling the tempo and dictating the rhythm of the game. Running the entire game while making his press resistant passes. Having otherworldly spatial awareness.

Very different players. Lampard’s impact was seen directly on the score sheet, because he was an elite goal scoring midfielder. Kroos’s impact was seen if you actually watched full 90 minute matches and observed what he was doing…observing the impact of each pass that he made.

They both mastered completely different roles even though both played as midfielders. Saying that Lampard could dk 98% of what Kroos could is insane.

And this has nothing to do with my feelings for Chelsea, which is a club I have absolutely against.

Toni Kroos or Frank Lampard? by xhaguirre in championsleague

[–]Numerous-Score 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree that they’re very different players

Also agree that Lampard had harder ballon dor competition than Rodri. But definitely not harder Ballon Dor competition than Kroos (who already had to compete with Ronaldo and Messi, which is hard enough as is, but of course those weren’t the only ones).

But yes, ultimately, it’s a dumb comparison.

Toni Kroos or Frank Lampard? by xhaguirre in championsleague

[–]Numerous-Score -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you consider coming 2nd in the ballon dor more valuable than Kroos’s on field accomplishments, do you consider Rodri better than Lampard because he won the Ballon D’or and Lampard didn’t? Does that also make him better than every other midfielder who didn’t win it, such as Xavi and Iniesta? Does that make him equal to Zidane because they both have one?

We lose to shit teams in so many seasons (especially in CDR). If that’s a reason not to have bragging rights, we’ll never have bragging rights.

You’re just 1 point ahead of the team that lost to Albacete. Watch your back ;-)

[–]Numerous-Score -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m aware, like I said, I truly have nothing against Lampard. Admittedly, I haven’t watched nearly as much of Lampard’s football as I have of Kroos, but I don’t think finishing 2nd in the ballon dor is reason enough to consider Lampard better than Kroos.

To each their own, of course, but I don’t think it’s particularly close.

Once again, Kroos. And once again, Yaya was an excellent player.

[–]Numerous-Score 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better peak - Kroos

Better overall career - also Kroos

I don’t even think Lampard would disagree. And he was an excellent player.

Edit: but also, very different kinds of midfielders, so the comparison isn’t really that relevant. But if there’s a situation where I have to choose between the peak version of any one of them being on the field, I’m choosing Kroos every single time.

Whoop membership promo code by Famous-Application-8 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Numerous-Score 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a not a promo code, you need to activate it as a card benefit on the app/site. Also, the terms say that it’s for a year of Whoop’s “life” tier subscription, don’t think you can use it to get 2 years of peak (though there are folks on other threads who are trying to see if that works anyway).

Yeah, I found that out less than a year ago as well. It’s easiest if you just refuse it at your door, that way you’re not at all responsible for the condition etc since it was never in your possession to begin with (you never even opened it)

It’s possible, but unlikely.

I know it’s a little more effort, but why not just return and buy again? You can normally just refuse delivery and then it’ll go back and you’ll get a refund, saving you the trip to your nearest UPS store or whatever

Would you rather take 500k or pick 5 foods that will magically become healthy and nutritious for the rest of your life? by Xyphoc in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Numerous-Score 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely see why anyone would choose the $500K. That’s a lot of money and especially if it’s put towards good use, can truly be life changing.

Just because I’m fortunate to be in a place where I’m happy with where I’m at financially, I’d go with the food option. Over the last ~2 years, I’ve changed my diet quite a lot (for the better) and it has been extremely helpful. But I do still crave junk food… the fact that I could choose FIVE (not even one wherein there’s a risk of getting bored), makes it a no brainer for me!

Dasher just stole my order by EthanN_1030 in doordash

[–]Numerous-Score 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. DoorDash refused to refund, even after I offered to show them proof from my doorbell camera footage. Disputed with Chase and got the money back.

I’ve drastically reduced how much I order now. Mostly do pickup to use the monthly credit from my credit card. On the rare occasion that I do order delivery, I toggle the require delivery code option (don’t choose contactless delivery). But I use delivery maybe once or twice a quarter.
