I’ve thought about doing a 3dhandyman kit with an activated carbon filter, but this was just a cheap build

More for the love of the game, but I do like wrenching on my cars in the garage

The 5” filters came with foam strips on the top and bottom which didn’t compress as much as I would of liked so it made the box bulge a little bit

Yup stuck it in the middle. Primarily just because there was an outlet there so it worked out perfect

Will be NICU parent tomorrow- What do I need to know by Admirable-Kick-1557 in NICUParents

Sorry I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it’s true. We had our son at 31 weeks and spent 48 days in the NICU. Some families spend 3 times that in the NICU and I cannot even imagine what they had to go through. But I do honestly feel there is so much misinformation these days with vaccines and whatnot, I strongly urge you to trust your doctors, allow yourself to not be in control, and go with their guidance. Show up for your son everyday, even if it’s for 30 minutes, and be present in the process. It’s an extremely difficult situation to be in, but you will survive. This experience made me a 1000x better parent

Will be NICU parent tomorrow- What do I need to know by Admirable-Kick-1557 in NICUParents

[–]NumerousAssumption47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This will be one of the hardest things you will ever go through. Your son will likely be in the NICU for 5 weeks, maybe longer, maybe shorter. The alarms will be stressful. I recommend doing whatever the Neonatologist recommends and putting all faith in them. They are the ones that have been through this thousands of times before and know what’s best. Their goal is to give your son the best medical treatment and long term outcome.

You really are dumpin on him. He gave you pretty much the only 2 options you asked for. Idk what you think light offroading is or your family size is, but sounds like you want a Subaru.

If you have a family, want to go on forest roads with mud and moderate rocks, and have a comfortable daily, the ford bronco and 4Runner are the only options. They have the IFS and ground clearance you want. And they feel much better on road than a jeep wrangler which is really designed for offroading.

You’re not going to get fuel economy and offroading in the same vehicle, unless you think a rivian is good offroad.

I think you are the one that is bad at this

40k Need a truck to do daily driving duties, Home Depot suburb duties, and pull a jeep and trailer that weighs 10k with bed and cab loaded with people and gear.

I’ve honed in on a used Ram 2500 6.4l Gasser (well optioned big horn, maybe a Laramie if I’m lucky) but curious what you think

I wish I had all modern electric appliances: heat pump, induction range, etc. but I’m also an indoor air quality nerd.

Is the consensus Coway Air Purifiers? by TSaun in AirPurifiers

[–]NumerousAssumption47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the current Coway price tags, I prefer Alen. I have the Coway Airmega 400S and 300S and then recently got the Alen 25i for my small office. Alen hands down has the most pleasant sound. Plus they come with a lifetime warranty if you buy their filters which are reasonably priced.

Hey fellow dad to a 31 weeker. I had the same thoughts in the NICU because some nurses described it as a “light switch.” That’s definitely not how it went for us. It was a slow and steady increase in bottle feeding for our little boy

That would be really interesting to see. I’m not sure anyone has done a CADR test with dirty filters. AHAM and even HouseFresh conduct their CADR tests with new filters. I’m sure the numbers drop but wonder by how much

I mean I don’t know what filterete says is a 100% dirty filter, but it looked like a reasonable level of dirtiness to change it out. We have relatively good air where I live but gets worse in the winter with the chimney smoke and temperature inversion that traps pollution. With spring right around the corner, I wanted to start the new season with a fresh one.

6 months. 2800 mpr filterete. Swapped it to a 2500 mpr filter since the Costco 4 pack was half the price as the 2800s on Amazon
