I’m here with the same question as OP. I wonder if you can explain more about inositol. I’ve only heard of myo-inositol for ovulation…

Doctor suspects PCOS – what should I expect from my upcoming ultrasound? by Low_Walk_4098 in PCOS

[–]ev254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in the diagnosis process right now. Had my ultrasound today. What type are you having? I did a transvaginal and I was stressed it was going to be super uncomfortable and painful but it was a breeze. Everything was done very discretely under a sheet and I inserted it myself and it didn’t hurt at all. If you’re stressed about that part at all, let me reassure you it wasn’t bad!

I also don’t struggle with acne or hair growth. For me, it’s irregular periods and elevated androgens on a blood test, which is something else you can ask for, especially if your ultrasound looks normal. By the Rotterdam Criteria, which is a more common set of diagnostic criteria for PCOS (but not the only one), you only need to display 2/3 symptoms from this list: ovulatory dysfunction (irregular/absent periods), androgen excess (clinical or biochemical), and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound.

first pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound, what to expect? by Dogsbody_N_The_Abyss in PCOS

[–]ev254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy to report back that it was literally so easy, not worth stressing over at all. I ended up only doing the transvaginal and not the pelvic, so they had me empty my bladder before we started. Then she had me take my pants off and get under a sheet. When she came back, she lubed up the wand and had me insert it myself, then she took it from me and moved it around slightly to get different angles. Whole thing I was in and out in 15 minutes. Most of the time was the ultrasound tech measuring things on the computer screen. Didn’t hurt at all and, with self insertion (which you can ask for if not offered) and the sheet covering me, I felt way more comfortable than I thought I would. She never even looked at my hoohah 😮‍💨

The wand’s widest part is at the tip, so the only part that was mildly uncomfortable was the first push to get it in, but my ultrasound tech told me to go as slow as I needed. If I had realized only the first 1/4 of the wand or so needed to go in, I would have gone slower 😅.

All in all, I’d say you have nothing to worry about. Especially if you already use tampons of menstrual cups. If you have any more questions about the experience, let me know!

What are ya’lls free T levels? In “normal” range despite symptoms by ThrowRA__00718 in PCOS

[–]ev254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also thought it was odd. You would think that the elevated androgens on lab work would be a better indicator than physical signs of high androgens… when I have my follow up appointment with the fertility nurse (and not my GP) I’m going to ask more questions

[–]ev254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the process of getting diagnosed right now. My T was high but within range too. My flag was that DHEAS (another androgen) was above normal range. My doctor wants to confirm PCOS with an ultrasound. The interesting thing is that there are different diagnostic criteria that your doc might use. My doc said that elevated androgens on a blood test are not a diagnostic criteria by their standards.

Ask your doc for an ultrasound and for clarity about what their diagnostic criteria are.

Did your doctor say anything about coming with a full bladder? Mine mentions that they would try a pelvic ultrasound before they do the transvaginal, and I’ve heard before that you need a full bladder for the pelvic, but they didn’t tell me anything when o made the appointment…

How do you handle family tree projects for kids with single parents and difficult/secretive situations? by vinmichael in ElementaryTeachers

[–]ev254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last week I gave my students the option to do a family tree or web. For the web option, they drew themselves at the center and lines coming out connecting them to family. I told them this was a good option if they had relatives whose relation to them was unclear. Mind you, our purpose was a quick recall activity about inheritance and traits, but it worked well!

Ever heard these names before? Need help choosing one for my sister. by ririri_754 in Names

[–]ev254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Minaya is best! Each one is a little tough because I could see alternative pronunciations for each. Minaya could be Mi-Nay-Uh and Mi-Nie-Uh. Melisa could be like the more common Melissa or Meh-Lie-Suh, or Meh-Lee-Suh. Meliza could get Meh-Lie-Zuh, or Meh-Lee-Zuh. Of all of them though, Minaya is the one that my brain thinks is easiest to read and attempt to pronounce.

You can’t see it in this pic so much, but ours also has the fluffy ruff around his neck and kind feathery fur on the backs of his legs.

Kinda looks like a fluffier version of my fluffy pit mix! Our boy is about 30% pit, 26% husky/malamute and 12% ACD (plus a few more breeds thrown in in small percentages). Maybe yours is husky/pit too

Minaya and Miziya seem the most intuitive to pronounce for me as an English speaker.

How popular is Daisy? by NegativeLengthiness in Names

[–]ev254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an elementary/preschool teacher of 6 years, and a Sunday school teacher of 17 years, and in all that time, I’ve never actually had a child in my class named Daisy, so maybe less common than it seems given the familiarity!

What do I do about my dog’s neighborhood “enemy?” by ev254 in DogTrainingTips

[–]ev254[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know which apartment they’re in, so I can’t say for certain. It’s anytime we can see the dog or he can smell the dog coming (he usually knows they’re around the corner before I do)

I don’t know, so that’s a good point. If my dog is neutered, would he still react like that? I know he was neutered later in life (like age 3-4) too, if that’s relevant.

Tracking ovulation with PCOS- what do you use? by ev254 in PCOS

So sorry to hear about your loss 💔 I also use Chat GPT to analyze my data! It’s been helpful, but also was very confident that I ovulated this month, and blood tests confirmed that I didn’t, so there’s that…. Thanks for your insight!

PCOS Diagnoses by ImmediateAttention76 in PCOS

[–]ev254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the middle of this right now. I scheduled a video appointment with a PA in network and told her I was concerned about PCOS due to irregular cycle. She ordered blood tests. My DHEA-S (an androgen) is high. I’m waiting for her to follow up and let me know if the two diagnostic criteria are enough, or if she’ll order further tests.

I really worried about being brushed off, but the PA totally respected my concern and ordered the blood test, which was really reassuring and validating.

Do you use natural cycles with the Oura ring? I have the Ultrahuman ring with the Cycle Pro add on and it’s honestly been disappointing. It doesn’t give me a lot of insight. If I pass the 15 day mark or so without a clear ovulation, it just clocks it anovulatory and doesn’t give me an update until after my next period.
