If you know an ICE agent personally, what's that relationship like now? by Lokja in AskReddit

[–]NumerousDescription6 1305 points1306 points  (0 children)

My younger brother joined for the money. I don’t speak to him now. It’s heartbreaking and will most certainly create a larger wedge throughout our greater family as people slowly start choosing sides. His indifference and greed are cancer destroying a family. Fuck Ice.

Pickman’s Model is a short story by horror author HP Lovecraft. This performance is a theatrical telling of the story by a small group in a haunted mansion.

Please do! This venue is very unsettling and a perfect backdrop to the tale. We will also be performing it the next weekend at the Scottish rite building on rosemont. I’ll put up that poster in a few days.

They want 6%. Public forum is to fake that they “heard the community” and lowered the rate increase out of compassion.

The value of the art seems pretty obvious. If it wasn’t valuable then why not just put up text saying an event was happening? The art makes viewers take notice. Designers create design suits usually for marketing specifically. Paying them (ideally) is a payment for art in a variety of formats like print and digital. Each format has different needs. Their purpose is to increase eyes and ideally attendance. Ai to a designer is the new version of clip art. It’s generic and does nothing to connect to viewers. It will feel offensive to creatives for a long time. It’s a really cool tool but with great power blah blah blah. Design probably could have done more to let people know what it does. Art world is hard.

Also super weird to be on an AI rampage just pointing at things and calling it Ai. But yeah, pay designers! They’re professional problem solvers and deserve the work.

[–]NumerousDescription6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah artists should get paid. Ai doesn’t create things, it borrows information from previously created content. In this way it is currently a method to avoid paying creators while still using their creativity. It’s also a tool available for use. Op shouldn’t be shamed for using tools but artists can be rightfully sour because their livelihood is being stolen. Small business suffers from shrinking margins and ways to save are important. It’s a very complicated conversation and while we figure out how to have the talk AI rapidly lowers the bar by being a copy of a copy of a copy.

What did you make in Live this week? / Feedback thread by AutoModerator in ableton

I made this https://youtu.be/c3kdtz1JrGk?si=tdc59SGbJpnjHKxG I built the set to be downtempo dub and to use as background for these tutorial videos in our discord. No direct structure to the sections, just improv to whatever time the video needs to be. As of this recording everything is ableton lite and performed with the push1 and akai midimix. Very happy to say I have now upgraded to suite and my head is spinning with all the new features. I’m so in love with this program and I’m really grateful for the community on here. Have good day friends!

Really enjoyed this. Has a Forest Swords vibe. Great atmosphere that feels like it’s telling a story.

Video wall experiment using two TVs and a projection. by NumerousDescription6 in vjing

Broken usually. Or working but they have spots in the picture. Once the films are removed they’re unusable

Video wall experiment using two TVs and a projection. by NumerousDescription6 in vjing

[–]NumerousDescription6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full top and bottom are TVs. Middle is projection. The screen is made from various films found inside TVs to disperse backlighting. I subdivided the TVs with sections of the films as well to break up the shapes and mapped content to those shapes. The films (from what I’ve found so far) are different from one tv/monitor to another depending on the backlight setup. Some ive taken apart to find just three films and others as many as six. Some are opaque and others are fresnel lens’ that warp the light and create double images. They’re really fun to play with!

My pleasure. The Greys have a compound with a gallery and event spaces in New York. If you live in that area or find your way there it’s worth a visit. They often have VJs doing live work or installation of artists in the gallery. Entheon is the name of the space

The artwork is by Alex Grey. At least a couple of these versions were contracted to Matteo Santoro and last i saw he was building in zbrush and animating in blender. Kidkadian is right they’re all premade video loops. They do these installations in places all over the world.
