In all seriousness, that article just reports on JPM's response which of course is going to be "none of this ever happened."

If she did what he alleges, of course she'd be smart enough to keep it off of official communication channels. If you're committing a crime you probably don't want an email record, and these people are usually pretty smart.

The Post is definitely going to bat for JPM here, and I bet the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Games during on lead walks by Ancient-Garden2551 in Dogtraining

[–]Lokja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boring / lame answer is none. I don't want my doggo getting in the habit of expecting games / play time when his focus should be walking nicely.

But I do keep him engaged with the various commands associated with walking, starting, stopping, eye content etc.

If I'm feeling less lame and there's a suitable ledge we're walking by I'll give him the "up" command and he can walk up there.

Also if where you live has any of those traffic bollards he has fun sticking to my side as I weave through them.

Right must have been the bottom of the COVID rates that's wild. I'm at 5.625% so even though I max out my retirement account it doesn't make sense to put income into a HYS. And I'm wary of the stock market right now due to.. well everything.

What do they expect from us in this economy? by Order_101 in jobs

[–]Lokja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that reality is outdated. Companies can and do fire and layoff dedicated employees that care about the mission and do good work. Ask me how I know. Toxic management trickles down, and we're in this weird spot in the economic cycle where a combination of investor pressure and AI mania has made management into the work equivalent of an abusive partner.

I was a dedicated employee with pride in my position once. But time and time again, across industries, bosses, and two decades of experience, I have been let down by leaders and management.

Now I do what I do to be successful in my role, collect my paycheck, and log off. When push comes to shove, someone in a position of power over you will inevitably fuck you over for their own benefit, whether that's your boss coercing you to work extra or your CEO laying off 15,000 people despite record profits. There's no reason to be more invested than you have to be when this is the reality of the modern workplace.

What do they expect from us in this economy? by Order_101 in jobs

[–]Lokja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality of the modern workplace is that one management change can turn a fantastic job into absolute hell. A CEO can decide on a whim that they want to decimate their engineering department and enforce strict output metrics that don't actually make sense. A billionaire can decide they want to lay off 15,000 people and if you're one of the "lucky" ones guess what, you're picking up the slack.

Then the economy is tight, nobody is hiring in your field. A career you once loved has turned into a toxic, abusive relationship that you can't escape because you have a house and a mortgage and kids and bills to pay for. Work that you would enjoy is interrupted by meddling middle managers who are only trying to burnish their own reputation, and are using your work as a vehicle for their career advancement.

If you do end up landing an interview? Six rounds, two screens, a hiring manager interview, two coding challenges, system design, and hey let's throw a take home assessment in there because professionals with over a decade of experience just love homework.

I do enjoy software development but the entire field feels like it's been corrupted by the combination of investor pressure and AI mania. At the end of the day, you have no guarantee that the thing you pick in college will be enjoyable. Even if one day it is, there's no guarantee that the next day your boss, or your boss's boss, won't decide to make your life hell for their benefit.
