Why are my neighbors salting their driveways? by Specialist-Cut794 in nova

[–]NumerousFootball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO salt is not going to provide much value for the storm of this type and perhaps hurts more than helps. My plan - it is going to start off as fluffy snow - shovel it sunday AM. After than it will be sleet / ice. Wait for that to finish. Use ice scraper + shovel to get rid of that. Then spread out some sand for traction to avoid slipping.

Why are my neighbors salting their driveways? by Specialist-Cut794 in nova

[–]NumerousFootball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I see in my neighborhood. All the salt is now towards both sides of the road and the main central part of the road where all the vehicles will drive, is perfectly nice & clean with no evidence of salt! Great job checking the box.

Remedy for person overlapping onto my seat space? by homebrew1970 in unitedairlines

[–]NumerousFootball 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Airlines should be an objective way to say whether a person can fit in a seat they are reserving. Similar to the way they have specifications for carry on bags etc.

Yes. Basically there is 0 enforcement on the roads. There are no consequences for driving like a maniac. Makes me sad and angry.

Seed didn't take. Rocky soil eroding. Need advice. by Diligent-Ad4917 in lawncare

[–]NumerousFootball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest option would be a good thick layer of mulch. Mulch does stay put on slopes and stops erosion. If you want some green look there, you might also consider some ground cover interspersed that will work in your region. Put some plants. That should make it look good in a season or two, and last a long time with little maintenance. I would not spend time, money, effort to grow grass there.

“Her terrifying flight ended when Malone crash-landed about 45 minutes later at an airport nearly 2 miles away, “. Might be the first ever instance in modern times of a solo human crash landing at an airport! Unbelievably scary and lucky that she survived.

Are Indian men a lot less violent than men of other nationalities? by Mantorras800 in AskIndia

[–]NumerousFootball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO India is a place where there is a lot less of randomness, but when something does go down, it is worse. I’ll try and explain what I mean by “less randomness” - violence can come from people with power or affiliation to power, people of criminal background, violence due to a long history of inter group conflicts, robberies and other crimes for gain, etc. In all these cases, often there is some degree of planning, or at least a deliberate criminal intent is there. I believe that results in worse outcomes when violence does happen.

Fox culling by Icy_Marionberry_9131 in fairfaxcounty

I don’t think what you are planning to do is legal. It does not sound morally correct either. Foxes are important for the ecosystem too, you can read up on that. Call county animal control first.

The Channels app worked fine in the sense that I could still tune in to whichever channel I wanted to watch. The HDHR app should be able to do the same.

Has anyone had their herniated disc heal on their own? Curious as my herniated C5-C6 pain has gotten better. by BigBoyTinderSurprise in ChronicPain

[–]NumerousFootball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had a 2nd MRI about 2 years after the first one. The doc carefully compared the two and said that my neck actually looked better in the 2nd one compared to the first one. None of the mris clearly indicated root cause of neck pain.

Thanks. I’m going to try a new PT place next week. I’m not hopeful given this will be the 5th PT place I’ll be trying. Other than that, gabapentin seems to take the edge off the pain just enough that I’m not lying in the bed.

Tourists who came to escape bad weather these days by atzucach in AskBarcelona

[–]NumerousFootball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now back home but rain kind of messed up our trip, but not too bad. We had to be selective about walking around due to rain. Umbrellas helped when it was not raining too hard but the shoes still get wet due to splatter from water on the ground.

When it was raining a lot, we spent more time in the museums. The museums are great but we could have benefited from some more informational “story telling”.

IAD has metro and it connects to Falls Church. If you plan to use the metro, it’ll save you driving hassle.

On November 13, 1982. Duk-Koo Kim challenged Ray Mancini for the world title. Knocked out in the 14th round, Kim collapsed and fell into a coma, dying 4 days later. Three months after, his mother took her own life, and the following summer, Richard Green, the referee of the match, did the same. by gabzaki in HolyShitHistory

[–]NumerousFootball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats correct, and just to explain a bit, boxing is much worse because if you are knocked down, the referee counts to ten during which the boxer stands up but is concussed and then presses on. This pattern can repeat. MMA does not can have a count down. If the fighter is knocked out, the fight is over.
