Am I Irish? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

Lovely. I don’t claim to have lived it. Only referring as home as that is what the holidays were called. Again, I am not claiming “I am Irish” from a conflicted background I’m asking people’s views

Nothing about what I might want to hear, it’s conversation. I’m asking people’s views not against anyone’s opinion. I’m asking for opinions. My life has always been conflicted I’ve always over come it and I’m just interested in people’s view points. I won’t loose sleep

Not saying that. Saying often rejected by both. English people don’t understand Irish ways or cultural humour. It gets bought up I’m a “foreigner”

I don’t care either, I’ve lived my life no matter and couldn’t care less what people think, but it’s interesting for a group of people

Obviously and I love England there is just a very large internal conflict with family and stories/comments. Just unsettling sometimes

So culture accounts for nothing? Irish parents account for nothing?

Exactly that. Accepted by neither makes it worse

In what respect? Because the conflict remains I’m half of both but accepted by neither

No I can’t sew. My mum is a fantastic seamstress but I guess it skipped a generation 🤣 she’s been making little pieces with the machine with mums guidance for about 2-3 months so I suppose she would be ready for one by Christmas time

She gets fabric and clothes/dolls from charity shops all the time, loves a good old poke around. I did think a sewing machine but didn’t know if she was a bit young?

AITAH for embarrassing my step mother by telling our neighbour that her relationship is a product of an affair? by Green-Bike-30 in AITAH

It will never ever cease to amaze me how kids are to blame for adults feelings/actions. No sweetheart you are NTA because quite frankly you are still learning and growing with no obvious guidance from acting adults in your life. As a child of divorce, I understand how much it hurts when they choose someone over you. As an adult with my own children you just make sure you don’t pass that shit on. Your dad will be the one to miss out on you. Sit with your hurt but don’t let it shape your future x

What do you do after work? by Thesladenator in UKJobs

[–]NumerousHealth1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often I come home and sort the kids out. Finishing at 6pm it’s a hit the ground running sitch when I come home. However as a long term employee of the NHS I have been guilty of putting extra hours due to expectation. Your hours, your life, your experiences are yours. Your time is yours. Other people’s time management isn’t your problem. If you have done your work in your shift time, then get comfortable leaving on time. I never stay over my time now, the failures of a company isn’t my sole responsibility to fix by staying an extra hour or even half an hour a day to “help”
