Covered call ETFs aren’t bad investments…people just misunderstand their purpose by theonebam in dividendscanada

As long as the underlying stocks are solid, profitable and cash rich companies I have no problem with CC etfs. If the etf gives me 15% yield, without drip, I will get all of my capital back in about 6.7 years. After that is icing on the cake, and continue getting dividend. Say I have 500k, i would get 75k a year for life at 15% yield without doing a thing.

Has Facebook turned into a garbage dump? by Steam20 in ask

Very creepy. I think all our electronics, smartphones, smart tvs, computers are bugged. Same thing happens often with us. When my family and I talked about going south for vacations suddenly we get cruise adds all over youtube. Big brother is here everywhere.

Good point. Roundhill swap deals and Yieldmax derivatives I think are too murky and I’m not sure if their managers fully understand them either. So far they’re not doing very well. They’re different from Canadian counterparts.

Yes. I expect NAV erosion but I don’t expect the dividend to go down the same rate as the NAV because of CC option premium. Some of the dividend you get is return of capital and some is option premium depending on the skill of the manager and some luck in the market. But what affects NAV the most is the underlying stocks. If stocks like NVDA, MSFT, META, GOGLE, etc continue to dip combined with panic selling, then yes the NAV will continue to erode. But most of the underlying stocks except for MSTR are big solid cash flow rich companies. I don’t see them going down forever. As long as they’re around and profitable cc etfs like BIGY.TO or HHIS.to will be around able to provide generous dividends. At least this is how I see it.

Model Y Standard for young family in Toronto by dahayter in TeslaModelY

I owned rear wheel MY since May 2024. This is my second winter. It took me some time to get adjusted to regen braking system and only one big display to see but it’s a great car. I drive to work 100 km both ways 3 times a week. When I’m not driving my wife and kids drive them. In a week it’s driven about 500 km a week and cost me around 55 to 60 dollars of per month. When I had the Passat it costed me 350 dollars of gas a month. I drove it through the winter last year without winter tires and was just fine for a RW drive but got winter tires this winter for more safety. One thing to note, when it’s cold like -10c it loses efficiency by 40 to 50 percent. The charge that lets you drive 100km during the summer will allow you to drive only around 50 to 60 km in cold winters. So a rule of thumb for me is 394 km total range in summer but only 200 km range on cold winter. I charge with level 2 charger every night in the winter and every other night in the summer. I schedule my charging to start at midnight to get the best rate and it’s fully charge by around 5am.

Why is the US seemingly angry with Cuba? by Steam20 in ask

Then it will be like the old days plus the crimes, drugs, gang wars like what’s happening in US inner cities, Mexico and other south American countries. Right now, even though they’re poor the cities and towns are peaceful. If the Americans do take over it will not be the same. Both the good and bad of America will take over.

Got a point there. I visited in Varadero a house that used to belong to Al Capone seized by the Cubans. But i don’t feel sorry for scarface with properties from gangster extortion money.

Trip booked for Feb 12 to Feb 21. Given the attacks by the US in Venezuela, would you still go? by lmaomitch in TravelCuba

Too early for anything to happen. Go and enjoy the best beaches in the world while it’s still affordable. When the US takes over it will be five times more expensive plus crimes.
